The Official Greatest Seventies Sit-Com Trivia Challenge on the Dope Today

Charles Nelson Reilly played “The Giddyap Gourmet” (a take-off on the Galloping Gourmet) on Arnie, which starred Herschel Bernardi.

Right on Gregory Sierra!

It was (nitpick) the Kweens Kouncil of Krusaders, and Archie told them how a black person’s blood saved his life when he was hospitalized.

I’d say “being Rip Taylor” ranks just slightly above “being guest celebrity at local supermarket openings”, actually…

As Sampiro noted, Random the Angel appeared on a “Happy Days” episode. He did not appear on “Mork & Mindy;” Mork appeared on the pilot episode of “Out of the Blue.”

A contrived spin-off yes, but of HD, not M&M.

I’ll defer to you and Sampiro. My memories of 70s TV are tinged by the fact that I’m remembering them through somewhat sporadic reruns and a child’s experience of the original run, as I was all of 8 by 1979.

Where’d all the trivia buffs go?

As I recall, the latter show was actually called Ozzie’s Girls.

For the Fernwood 2-Night query (Question #10) in the OP, America 2Night would also be an acceptable answer for the title of some episodes of the show that starred Martin Mull as host Barth Gimble and Fred Willard as sidekick Jerry Hubbard. Barth’s reference to Jerry’s resorting to “often racist drivel” inspired my brother Mark and I to dismissively refer to most of our mom’s subsequent viewing choices (Fantasy Island, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, etc.) as “drivel”.

The Flying Nun started and ended in the 60’s, didn’t it?

I only remember the actor: T K Carter. I cannot remember the name of the series

Well I think I should answer this as I just saw it…he was upset because he’d been his show biz partner during the war. And he blamed him for stealing his act. But I think my bit of trivia from that show was more interesting

Without research, I’m almost certain that at least part of the show was running in 1970, because I watched it while I was in kindergarten.

the last episode was in April 1970 - you may have caught it in reruns
Also there is no **Janet ** on the “guest list”, so please give a better hint

More ODD COUPLE TRIVIA:

1- On what precedent setting grounds was Felix’s wife awarded her divorce?

2- Why was Felix decorated by the Nazis?
GOOD TIMES Trivia:

1- What was Sweet Daddy Williams’ blood type (and also J.J.'s)?

2- Name three celebrities Bookman imitated over the course of the show.

3- What was the name of the play Thelma wrote?

(A question I don’t have an answer to about GT- did it ever explain what happened to FLorida’s second husband? I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the episode where he returned.)

LAVERNE & SHIRLEY trivia:

1- What was the name of Laverne’s father’s business in Milwaukee? Next, what was the name of his business in L.A.?

2- What landmark Broadway play did Carmine win a role in?
ALL IN THE FAMILY trivia:

1- What two actors, one of whom would go on to star in a classic 70s comedy movie and the other in a title role on a classic 70s comedy series, burglarized Archie’s house while he was at a movie, and what did Edith intend to use the $50 she had in her sugar bowl for (that they let her keep)?

2- Name two of the much more famous actors offered the role of Archie before it was offered to Carroll O’Connor? And (easy one) what famous actress/director met the man who would become her husband when she auditioned for the role of Gloria (hint: it wasn’t Sally Struthers)?

AitF#2
a) Mickey Rooney
b) Penny Marshall - but they had met and married way before AitF - Sally Stuthers had said in an interview she was sure Penny was going to get the role because, after all, she was already married to Rob Reiner

Penny Marshall, who played Myrna Turner on The Odd Couple.

  1. What where the names of her 2 siblings?

ODD COUPLE

1- Felix was a “pest”

ALL IN THE FAMILY

1- Edith had written some song lyrics and she wanted to pay to have them set to music.

I know one of the burglars was Demond “Lamont” Wilson of “Sanford and Son,” but I don’t remember the other guy.

The other was Ron Glass of Barney Miller fame.

Wasn’t it because he had the neatest barracks in the Stalag?

Nope. Cleavon Little, of Blazing Saddles.

Didn’t Ron Glass appear on AITF in a roll as some kind of robber?

Woo-hoo! I can get at least half of this one:

In Milwaukee, Laverne’s father ran the Pizza Bowl. I’m unsure about the name of his business in LA, but I seem to recall it was some sort of western-themed restaurant.
