The official RibFest 2004 Thread

Ginger, ten buckeroos per adult to purchase meats, beers, plates, plasticwares, etc. Not a bad deal since it’s “all you can eat.”

Personally, I think dogs and burgers would be great, since I personally find ribs barely worth the effort no matter how good they are.

As far as sides, what is really needed? I mean, there could concievable be a huge overflow of the same stuff.

We could do deviled eggs. How’s that sound?

Mrs. Teasdale is about as definite as she’s going to get, before actually packing an overnight bag. At any rate, I’ll be forking over dough for the both of us.

Side dish TBA. I like doing the black bean salsa I made last year, but it’s not easy to make a small quantity of it, so I might do something else.

And I just picked up two of those folding outdoor chairs at a yard sale for $5 total, so now I’ve got a set of four of them which I can bring along.

Yes, the price is a sawbuck per adult. RTFirefly, if you want to hold off on Mrs. Teasdale’s contribution until you come up, that’s fine. I’ll be buying a couple extra racks of ribs anyway, so it’s no big deal.

I’ll be emailing the definites with my home address and phone numbers in a day or two.

So far we have:

Gorgon Heap, devilled eggs are a great idea. I’ll put you down for that, if that’s okay. We need to get our side dishes straightened out, so chime in and let me know what you’ve got.

So far, I’m aware of:
FriendBill and HelenWheels Bill’s famous macaroni salad
Gorgon Heap and Acrylic Vessel devilled eggs (and maybe Jell-O shots? Those were good last year! )
Biggirl et al I’m assuming more beer, since you have a discount beverage center nearby. I’m cool widdat.
Meros breadage
Little Nemo home-made ice cream (chocolate and vanilla are fine, AFAIC)
Mrs. Dave-Guy The world-famous chocolate chip cookies, without which she would be lynched, and probably a malt-ball pie.

We could use something like baked beans and maybe a green salad and perhaps some fruit salad. Pipe up and lemme know what’s in the works.

We’re in for green salad.

Hmmm side dishes… Deviled eggs are my specialty, but since that’s taken I dunno. My next specialty is Scotch Eggs, but I dunno if that’s too redundant? I can’t stand baked beans, so I don’t think I’d do them justice making them… My mother makes killer spring rolls, but those aren’t very barbecue-y. Fruit salad I’m not very strong on… Unless I convince my mother to make some of that ambrosia stuff that everyone either loves or hates.

Duly noted. Green salad is good.

I’m in, and I can bring pasta salad. Looking forward to it!

Pasta salad sounds good, but I have to close the door on them after you. Both FriendBill and my friend from work Danyne are bringing similar dishes. We still need potato salad and fruit, and possibly a little more dessert.

But I’ll email you with the particulars, Juniper200.

It’s looking more like “Heck Yeah!” than “Probably…” at this point. Tark may not be able to go but the kids and I are all looking forward to it.

I can probably make cookies or something…anything I bring has to have a decent shelf life though.

The only things which would prevent my/our attendence are catastrophe and gas prices.

Okay, I’m committing myself, work be damned! And I’d be happy to handle the fruit salad.

Jell-O shots? Consider yourself drunk, my friend!

You can bring spring rolls if you want. I mean, why not?

Okay, update, since we’re now on page 2.

Hey sunfish: Please check your e-mail (the one you have listed on here), if you can. Thank you muchly.

Cosmo, I saw your email and wrote back, but in case it got lost in the ether - just tell me where in Manhattan you’ll be, and we can set a time later.

I hope this means I can bump Cos to the “Definite” list.

(I’ll bump you down the stairs later  )

I know she’s looking foreward to it, Dave.

So far I’ve received money from Gorgon Heap, FriendBill and someone else who didn’t think to put her screen name anywhere on the check. I assume it’s either sunfish or Juniper200.

Female…living in the Bronnix…

little help here…

Dave can you e-mail me where o send the check? I’ll get it out right away once I have your address. My e-mail’s in my profile.

Thanks.

Meros, email sent. Grassy-ass.

And it definitely wasn’t Juniper200, because Junie doesn’t even live in New York State, let alone the Bronx. So I’m guessing sunfish. But I’d still like confirmation.

Dave, though not entirely down to the wire yet, is there anything I can do to help you out?

I’m watching this thread with baited breath because I haven’t seen any of y’all since January, so please let me know if I can do anything for you.

And Cosmo, are you going to give me a call, or what?
