[/QUOTE]
I marked some things as I wouldn’t try them because I’m pretty sure wouldn’t like them, but honestly if I only had to have a small bite I would probably try almost anything except insects or something still alive, unless I was quite drunk or enough money was at stake in which case even those might not be out of the question. I generally don’t eat much meat, but I’d be curious to try the various odd meats once for the experience. The oddest foods I’ve eaten are stinky egg (Chinese delicacy involving sticking a hard boiled egg in the ground until it ferments and turns black), and iguana (tasted like dry medicre chicken).
There were a lot of things I hadn’t heard of or weren’t sure of. Maybe you should have included a glossary! I’m too lazy to google them all
Seeing others responses… These are the ones I would want to try. Other *s I’d just be willing to. As far as roadkill, if it were something like a deer I’d be willing, but random roadkill like a raccoon run over I would not.

As for the asterixes/cross outs - there is nothing on there I wouldn’t love to try and there isn’t anything there that I have eaten that I wouldn’t try again. There are, however, a few that I’m not sure what they are so can’t be sure I haven’t eaten them under a different description? I might research and amend when I have more time.
I am also going to print this list and pin it on my fridge and will make a concerted effort to have it all in bold as soon as possible. What a great OP!
- Bold the ones you have tried.
- Strike through those you wouldn’t even try.
- Place an asterick asterisk by those you would try, but haven’t
- Italicize those you have tried but would not eat again.

Cognac and cigar - I’m just not a smoker.
-
Sea urchin - I’ve dissected enough of these that there’s no way I’m eating that purple or black goo that you find inside. Yech. I hate that sh*$
-
For a second I thought this had to do with Baiji dolphins - and wondered how can anyone eat that, or even get that now? But it turns out its just a liquor - whew!
A couple of nights ago, I discovered that Haagan Daz has a criollo chocolate ice cream. It’s called Amazon Valley Chocolate. They only mention that it’s flavored with Criollo chocolate on the underside of the lid! I bought some and it’s REALLY good, but I don’t know if it’s enough to check criollo chocolate off on the list. It does make me want even more to try some real criollo chocolate!
I, too, liked the FAQ that WVmom linked to. It explains the thinking behind the list, and especially the inclusion of kaolin (and the cigar with the cognac), quite well.
About the roadkill, I used to work in a homeless shelter that got large donations of meat, including elk. I think, though I’m not sure, that those came from the state, and that at least some of it was from roadkill as well as deliberate culling.
Oh, and I had two more pints of excellent 8.5% beer last night. Anyone who crossed that off can send theirs to me!
There is not a lot that I wouldn’t eat, and looking at this list there is not a lot that I haven’t eaten.

So, not that it’s a competition or anything, but at 95%, am I in the lead or not?
Clotted cream tea isn’t a cup of tea with clotted cream instead of regular cream; it’s a small meal/snack of tea and scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream instead of butter.
Clotted cream is probably the thing with the largest variance between “Urrghhh wtf?” name and actual deliciousness.
Is it just me or is anyone else amazed that Mangetout hasn’t posted to this thread?

I’ve tried most of the things on the list and will happily try anything if I can find it.
But is it just me or does the list make no sense.
It’s definitely not a list of the most tasty stuff in the world. You might be willing to try it but I don’t think anyone can seriously say they LIKE raw scotch bonnet chillies and kaolin (that’s mud isn’t it)
It’s not a list of the most exotic stuff in the world - what about bird’s nest soup and that nasty cheese with the maggots and a 100 other things.
It also seems unlikely that many people have tried all those things. You would need to have travelled very widely AND have a lot of money (the whisky and Kobe beef are EXPENSIVE). I would happily try some of the things but I have no way of getting the ingredients - some are VERY regional.
I guess this is just one guys arbitrary list of stuff he’s eaten which he thinks most people haven’t tried?
ETA: Just read the FAQ and the guy pretty much says it is an arbitrary list to make people think about food. In that case it makes perfect sense.

I think it was to encompass a wide range of food, from expensive haute cuisine to very pedestrian to exotic.
My husband has been known to eat those raw. It isn’t always to win a bet, either.
A type of clay. Kaopectate used to use it as a primary ingredient, so if you had Kaopectate before, like 1990, you’ve eaten it. Probably after scarfing down something like those scotch bonnets.
All of the meat ones I tried before I became vegetarian - so me not eating those is due to that, and not a dislike per ce.
