Ugh, back to the grindstone today. Today’s commuting horror was black ice. Not fun, but hey, I made it in. I was shocked to see they had actually PLOWED our parking lots! There are HUUUUUGE piles of snow at the ends of the lots.
However, they failed to put deicer down, because I just about went ass over tea kettle attempting to walk across the lot.
I donwanna. Knowing how much I have to get done in the next four days is just a little overwhelming at the moment.
I don’t have any interesting historical facts for this day. Well, I could look one up, I suppose, but I need to get back to work.
Make sure you rub Purell on your elbows too, Eve, just in case

Hippo Birdie Moooooooooooooooooooom & Wiki!
I have found the FAQ document I have on my PC, I await further instructions!
Not much going on today, **PB **has orientation for a new job, & I may or may not get some of the never ending pile of housecleaning done.
Good OP, Swampy! Happy Monday all! Happy Unbirthday rosie!
Happy birthday FCM! The strippers and giant cake shall arrive this evening. I have also taken the liberty of having a stocked kegerator scheduled for concurrent delivery to assist partygoers in the festivities. Take lots of pics!
My knee was better when I got up this morning so I told my dad I’d be able to pick him up from the hospital if he’s coming home today. Now, for no reason at all, my knee is worse. I’m hesitant to take a pain pill in case I need to go pick up my dad so I’m just sitting here trying to get some paperwork/homework done. So far this morning my dad had an ultrasound on his knee and was going to be fitted with a brace. Hopefully he’ll make it home soon.
Believe it or not, I nearly forgot that today was Monday! Such are the pitfalls of retirement, I guess. A not so bad one. Next week is full of appointments, so this week, I’m taking it easy. Sending good “take it easy” thoughts to LiLi, btw, to help with the twins and to keep that blood pressure down.
Weather in ABQ has been seasonable - no snow since the several storms we had in December, of all things. Fortunately, we only got a few inches of all that snow - most of it was in the mountains. They don’t believe in shoveling sidewalks here, though - it’s insane! There are still a few piles of really dirty snow and, even worse, patches of ice lurking around. Plus there are always a few people who insist (so it seems LOL) on wearing summery clothing even though the temps are in the 30s. That I do NOT understand at all. And thus endeth my short rant on the weather & people. LOL
I am hoping that everyone is doing well, or as well as can be expected. Have a good day today. Oh oh, and whee for a Rigs sighting!
Thank you all for the birthday wishes! Although I was a bit sad that swampy forgot, (the year was 1960, it was the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius!) I was completely gratified that rosie remembered!
The only plans I have is to make shrimp etouffee for supper because I love it and no one else here makes it right. The best present I could receive (besides the diamond studs I lust for) would be some fresh flowers, but I can count on getting neither. It’s a very good thing that I am happy with the things I have, and I can always go out on the deck and gaze upon my still blooming pansies. I would have to get my ears repierced for diamond studs anyway!
My heart is healing, thankfully, and I am beginning to feel more sociable. Happy Birthday to FairyChatMom, the lucky duck out cruising!
Oh, and for newer folks, I used to be kaiwik, hence the nicks kai and wiki. If the MMP sticky perhaps that could be included. Also that I like to forage for food when the tide is low, especially urchin, octos and cucumbers . . . mmmmmm!
kai so you were born once. In 1960. But for longer than twenty minutes. Also, at low tide you go down to the beach and forage for poor, raggedy clothed children? Oh My!
Plus PolyCarp tells us the Earl of Eels was murdered today.
On the bright side Eve graced a MMP started by me. I feel so special.
Oh and irk was pretty unirksome today. So yay for that.
Dindin is sammiches tonight just cause I don’t wanna cook. I shall make up for that tomorrow cause I am makin’ skettie sauce this evenin’. Skettie sauce needs to set overnight IMO to blend and mellow so it’ll be gooooooood tomorrow over angelhair (a very disturbin’ name for pasta) pasta.
Is anyone familiar with Eddie Izzard’s bit on little old ladies exclaiming “I’m 82”? Well, I’ve got it stuck in my head, only today I am exclaiming “I’m 52!!!”
My dad is coming home. All it took was for me to take a pain pill and incapacitate myself from driving. Yep, 30 minutes later he was ready to go home. Good thing my mom had just gotten off work.
