The ONE movie that will always make you stop channel surfing

Jaws.

Now, Voyager . . . especially before the “transformation.”

“My big fat Greek wedding”

It’s Repo Man, Melon farmer.

Wow, some good one listed, Godfather, 5th Element, Christmas Sotry, etc…

But if I’d have to choose only one, it’d have to be “The Princess Bride”. Love that movie.

Alright then, The Godfather II.

Pulp Fiction

Bridge on the River Kwai

The character interactions are endlessly fascinating.

Some great choices listed. Keep them coming!

One quick question for those of you that picked movies that are heavy on the vulgarity… does the edited version not bother you at all?

**Petek **listed Pulp Fiction, one of my favorite movies, but the edited version is hard for me to watch. The vulgarity is an integral part of the movie. To either cut a scene completely or dub in other words spoil the movie for me.

Fried Green Tomatoes

Kathy Bates rocks, as does Jessica Tandy. And Mary Stuart Masterson and Mary-Louise Parker.

I love all of it!

There are many, but if I had to pick one, it’d be Singin’ in the Rain.

A League Of Their Own.

It’s not even that great a movie, but it was on cable all the time when I was a kid, and it was basically the one thing that my sisters and I could always agree to watch when we were ‘sharing’ the TV.

At this point I guess it’s just habit.

To go with the OP I guess it’s got to be something that’s on pretty frequently, which rules out a lot of my ‘favorites.’ It’s also got to be something that never gets old or boring no matter how many times you’ve seen it. Plus it would have to be something you can come into mid movie and still be enthralled.

Therefore, I give you H.E.A.T.

Bah!, I move that the Godfather be considered one movie in three installments for film lists like this where you can only pick one film. It’s not fair to have to pick Godfather I or II or even III to be left out.

So many good ones here. I think I’d stop for 2/3rd’s of these, but the one that will make me stop every time - Road House. It’s not a great movie, but it’s a great Guy’s Movie. Sam Elliott, “Pain Don’t Hurt”, throat-rippin’, ass-kickin’, and Jeff Healey settin’ it all to music. I’d be ashamed by this choice, but testosterone won’t be denied.

Any Clint Eastwood movie, but I’ll pick In the Line of Fire. I don’t own the DVD since I’m waiting for a blu ray release.

My Cousin Vinnie.

Of course, I could have named about half the films listed so far…but hey, I didn’t!

Me too. I have it on DVD, but it doesn’t matter. If I wander across it on cable, I’ll still watch it, no matter how much has already been shown.

A second vote for The Dirty Dozen. Other flicks come and go, but that one is always a surf-stopper.

Love this! I’m a girl - but I love the fight scenes. Patrick Swayze *and * Sam Eliot - mmm…
