The ONE movie that will always make you stop channel surfing

I agree, there are a lot of good ones here, but probably the top one that I’ll stop for is Stripes. Lotsa fun.

Oooh, this is really tough for me. I have three consistent channel-surfing-stoppers, so I had to imagine that Jaws, The Fifth Element, and Aliens were all on at the same time. Which one would I tune in to?

My gut reaction: Jaws.

Goodfellas. It seems to be on all the time somewhere along the basic cable spectrum. I even saw it on Lifetime once.

Oooh, a real quandary! I’d go with 5th Element, because I enjoy the humor so much. I also enjoy the visuals, and Milla Jovovich, but I repeat myself.

Clue. Infact, I accidentially came upon it the night before one of the biggest exams of my college career, and rather than study/sleep, I HAD to watch the whole rest of the movie. It pretty much fucked up my life.

I’m the same way. I have Die Hard on DVD, but it’s cool when I catch it on TV because I’m not expecting it.

King Kong (The original version - not either of the remakes.)

I’ve been looking for that video dvd - I’ve found it once, and it was $20 or something - I thought it should be like $6 since it’s been out so long. I’ll probably have to break down and shell out - it really is a great movie.

My choice based on what I actually do would have to be “Forrest Gump” - I know there are many criticisms of the movie, but I just find it so damned entertaining.

Amazon has it starting at $6.98. It is on of my all time favorite movies. However, for this thread, I have to pick My Cousin Vinny. Everytime I see it, even if it is almost over, I watch it.

Fandango.

I can think of a few, but this was the first one that popped into my head when I saw the thread title.

There are a handful for me, but if they were all on at once, I’d choose Blazing Saddles over the rest… Makes me laugh every time I watch!

Kelly’s Heroes for me too - great story, great characters, great action and funny as hell.

Willow.

Did ya ever spring that on unsuspecting friends? Were they still friends when it was over?

I actually did it to a church singles group. They did not excommunicate me, but it took a long time before I was trusted to recommend a movie again!

My answer to the title- CARRIE.

The Big Lebowski.

Gasp!

Really? Hazle… my sister!!! I love love love that movie, Kevin Reynolds is an old family friend, but I never see it on TV. Oh boy, we gotta talk!

For some reason I haven’t been able to work out, Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992).

Predator.

I’m going to switch from Repo Man to Evil Dead. Thanks.
