The one song you like by a singer/group you hate

“Fully Completely” by the Tragically Hip (or the Tragically Shit, as my husband invariably calls them). I don’t hate them per se, but I don’t go out of my way to listen to them, either.

“You Wanna Make a Memory” by Bon Jovi. I’m a traitor to my 80’s roots - I can’t stand Bon Jovi. I think the worst song ever recorded is “Bad Medicine.”

Without Me by Eminem- I can’t stand him as a human, but he’s a gifted and clever lyricist [even in his songs I don’t like], and this one’s just got a fun beat.

Shake Ya Assl by Mystikal- I’m not a huge rap fan in general (though I freely admit it’s an art form and do have some songs I like) and I particularly don’t care for rap or other songs with crude lyrics, but I dare you to keep your head still during the first minute of this song.

“Low” by Flo-Rida is on my list of rap songs for the same reason - it’s the stupidest song ever written, and I sing along with it at the top of my lungs every time I play it.

This is exactly what I came in here to say. One of my very favorite songs… I just try to pretend it’s someone elsesinging.

The only song that Creedence Clearwater Revival plays that I like is “Suzy Q”.

I hate The Doors, but I do like Riders on the Storm.

Also, I really hate Sheryl Crow, but I like Steve McQueen. The song. And the actor I guess.

And, I hate all rap music, but I have to admit I kind of like Gin and Juice by Snoop Dogg.

I’ve always have had a soft spot for Radiohead’s Creep, but otherwise I never understood them.

Wakinyan

[Slight hijack] Interesting name.

“Cool” by Gwen Stefani (I know, I know).

Aretha Franklin’s Chain of Fools is one of my all time favorites. While I don’t hate her, the rest of her music leaves me with a “blah” feeling.

That’s funny, cuz Last Kiss I’d the one PJ song I can’t stand. Most PJ fans feel the same way.

The first song that comes to my mind is “Alfie” by Lily Allen…

This happens sometimes with artists whose first song is great but their followups are either secondhand crap that only made it because the first one is so good or more of the same as the first one.

With one exception for me: Voodoo by Godsmack. Their other stuff is horrible Goth-metal but this one is sort of DCD-Mission-influenced classic stuff.

“Land of Confusion” by Genesis is a great song I sing along with at the top of my lungs. Everything else sucks, including their Peter Gabriel era.

Not a fan of James Taylor at all, but “Fire and Rain” is a nice song.

“I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry is a fun song to sing to, but the rest of that album is crap.

I shamefully admit that I like Kayne West’s “Gold Digger”, but I’ve yet to hear anything else from him that I’ll listen to twice.

I agree 1000% and can’t change the radio station fast enough when it comes on. I loathe the original as well. I think that it’s the (non-)rhyme scheme:

*Oh where oh where can my baby be
The Lord took her away from me
She’s gone to heaven so I got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world *

If you’re not going to rhyme, don’t rhyme. I like a lot of songs that don’t. But don’t quarter-ass it.

“You take my MONeee
while I’m in neee-eeed
Well you’re a triflin’
Friend indeee-eeed”
We played that at my sister’s wedding (with her permission). That song’s a lot of fun.

Toxic-Brittney Spears

Stay-U2 My god do I love that song.

Me too, on this one. Their trademark harmonies are just awesome here. The song is basically about stalking someone though.
My reply to the OP would be “Like a Prayer” by Madonna, except I have to admit “Open your Heart” by her isn’t too terrible.

The Scientist by Coldplay. Maybe the video has something to do with it.

Ditto. First thought when I read the thread title.
