“You Oughta Know” - Alanis Morissette
“Supersonic” - Oasis
“Outtathaway” - The Vines. Actually, “Get Free” isn’t too bad either. But everything else on that album sucks wombat balls.
I HATE Eminem. But I could listen to “Lose Yourself” over and over for about a week.
Nirvana’s version of David Bowie’s The Man Who Sold The World is great.
Anything else by Nirvana is just wasted on me.
“Sister Golden Hair” by America. (Yes, I hate America … In the desert, you can remember my ass!)
I love hip-hop, but don’t like Mystikal’s style of rap. That song, though, I love.
Michael Jackson - Give In To Me.
Can’t stand him otherwise and I think it is only Slash’ contribution that mzkes this palatable.
“Break On Through” - The Doors
“Fool In The Rain” - Led Zeppelin
My picks for the Stones are Paint it Black, Sympathy for the Devil, and Miss You, which counts because they had so many chances to make good songs and could only manage the three.
Greenday is the worst thing to happen to “rock” music in… forever. They paved the way for countless horrible bands that made KROQ the steaming pile of dog crap that it is today.
But I actually like “Jesus of Suburbia”.
I don’t hate rap music, but it generally doesn’t thrill me.
But “Gangsta’s Paradise” is good.
This.^^^^^^
Thank U by Alanis Morissette is a brilliant song. Everything else she’s done: Blech!
Talk by Coldplay has a great riff, and it’s the closest they’ve ever gotten to actually rocking out. I wish they’d do more songs like that.
Duran Duran is usually utterly generic 80s garbage to me, but Ordinary World is a great song.
As in, even the lamest, sorriest band in the world probably has that one good song…I ain’t sure I agree altogether, but here are some choice specimens anyway-- good songs by musicians who we think basically suck dead pig ass otherwise:
Mach 5–Presidents of The USA
Somebody Save Me–Cinderella
Suffragette City–David Bowie
No Rain–Blind Melon
Aqualung–Jethro Tull
China Grove–The Doobie Brothers
**Loser **–Beck
Rotten Sunday–The Hangmen
Pigs In Zen–Jane’s Addiction
Cowtown–They Might Be Giants
Baby’s On Fire–Roxy Music
Peace Of Mind–Boston
Stan–Eminem
A Horse With No Name–America
Aimee–Pure Prairie League
Crimson and Clover–Tommy James and the Shondells
When Doves Cry–Prince
Manna and Quail–Caterwaul
Man on the Moon - R.E.M. …Everything else is just self-indulgent tripe
Prince sucks dead pig ass? Really?
My nominees:
“Space Oddity” by David Bowie.
“Karma Chameleon” by Culture Club.
I agree on “La Isla Bonita” by Madonna.
There’s probably one by the Talking Heads, but I’m blanking right now…
This.
I kind of like “Mosh” and “Stan,” too, but I love “Lose Yourself.”
And other than that, I can’t stand Eminem.
“Beth” by KISS. God help me.
Ditto “Picture” by Kid Rock. I’m pissed that it’s not on iTunes.
“The Only Promise That Remains” by Reba McEntire. She bugs the crap out of me but this song (written by Justin Timberlake) is awful purty.
“Once Was a Time I Thought”, by the Mamas and the Papas. I have furious hatred for much of their other work.
