“Money” by Pink Floyd. I have the utmost respect for the musical talent of that group, but I’ve found every other song of theirs (that I’ve heard) to be unbearably depressing even before taking the lyrics into consideration. But “Money” is fun. And I’m a big fan of 7/4 time.
This is the song in karaoke bars where some girl drags her reluctant, protesting boyfriend up onto the stage to sing a “duet” with her and once the music starts it quickly becomes apparent that, though reluctant, the boyfriend is the only one of the pair who actually knows how the song goes.
“Money” is also the only Pink Floyd song I like. It’s especially a treat to hear it on the radio when they don’t edit out the profanity in the “do goody good bullshit” line.
Wow, the love for Madonna’s La Isla Bonita is disturbing to me. I had that album (hey, I was 13 at the time!!), and haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaated that song. Gah. But what do I know? My one guilty Madonna pleasure that endures is “Tell Me.”
Another vote for Britney Spear’s “Toxic”
Another vote for Kanye West’s “Gold Digger”
I think I like Justin Timberlake (haven’t heard his album, so dunno how much I like him), but really all I need is “Cry Me a River” on a CD repeated about a dozen times and I’d be good.
