“His dog will not stop barking!”
To deal with an unwanted flower delivery…
I didn’t catch that the flower’s voice was Bruce Willis until I read it yesterday!
OMG, yes. He’s Gladys Kravitz.
“Something’s fishy!”
I’m really sorry.
Wouldn’t it be ‘straightdar’?
Mind=blown!
We’re just going to have to come up with a whole new nomenclature. Figuring out “gay” and “straight” with a (nominally) all-male species is akin to trying to conjugate verb tenses for time travel. We will-have-haven-had figured this out at some point.
Moclans don’t view themselves as male, right? I mean, they are sort of - since they convert their females - but their official belief is that they’re all one gender and some babies are deformed and need a correction. As such, shouldn’t they not have a concept of straight/gay, and shouldn’t be dating a male or female of another species be equally valid?
It is certainly damned confusing. I figure they are like worms and orchids and have both sets of reproductive equipment.
One wonders what animals of their planet are like, and whether it was a shock to find intelligent species that are sexed. You would think that Union biologists would straighten things out about what gender to call them, though.
I thought it was a well-done episode. Had some subtle humor, tackled a serious social issue with the typical sci-fi flip to make you think, created a mystery that probably wasn’t as easy to solve for anyone not familiar with “Court Martial”, and developed some characters important to the show (Kelli and Seleyan#2). Plus, now it introduces a new dynamic to the Bortus - Klyden marriage.
I think the last two episodes are clearly in the show’s top five to date. Keep it up!
For me, the last two episodes are middle of the pack (which is still pretty good, because I like most of the episodes of this show), but the two before that are among the best.
Semi spoiler from tonight’s episode
It ain’t the Moclans.
So; another Bortus episode. Bortus doesn’t get a corner piece…
joking…
Damn, what are they going to do? All I can figure is that Issac will decide to save them somehow. Otherwise he’s written out of the show.
Oh…my…god!!!
Judging from the early comments I’ve seen elsewhere, it really does seem like I am in the Negative Universe of the fandom of this show. I would rate this episode among the lowest of the show’s run so far. It was far and away the lowest through the first 45 minutes, until the final twist partially redeemed it–albeit not without doing even greater damage to Isaac’s character growth as seen in recent episodes.
ok tonight’s ep was epic, simply epic
I did not expect that at all
davidm and SlackerInc
They’ve already written one character out of the show. What’s to stop them from writing off another?
And SlackerInc, they damaged a character’s growth? That’s your takeaway from tonight’s episode? Really?
However
They’ve already established that the doctor’s N-grams or whatever they called them have had an effect on Isaac’s programming. Isaac will do something to foil the attack. The day will be saved.
Yeah, that went to a far darker corner than the show has previously attempted. I’m digging it.
I wonder if spoilers are really necessary once it’s aired. People who haven’t seen it yet should know to stay out of the thread. But I’ll continue to use spoiler boxes until we decide otherwise.
I liked this episode, but this is the Dope and nitpick we must, so…
What kind of security systems allow a child to leave the ship on a whim without stopping him, or at least notifying someone?
The Kaylons say that the Union must be eliminated to make more room for themselves. I have to believe that the vast majority of planets are not inhabitable by humans and that many of those planets will however support Kaylons, since they presumably don’t breath and can withstand a wider range of temperature and gravity, so there should be plenty of real estate that they can use that would be useless to humans and other biologicals.
DavidM.
I fully concur. (I tried quoting your post but it did so with the spoiler showing.)
