Don’t know about anyone else, but for me the closing ep of the 2-parter delivered, even if a bit predictable in its outcome and in who all were involved (wink wink nudge nudge). If nothing else, that was some real eye candy during the last third.
yeah that was epic. They must have spent the whole special effects budget on that space fight, that’s why we had so many episodes of just the doctor dating the robot
And they pulled back from the edge of the precipice in terms of wrecking Isaac’s character. I’m relieved, although I’ll have to try not to think about how callous he was in some of his earlier interactions with his girlfriend (with whom he had just pulled a “Say Anything” move)…
That would be funny, especially if Seth was like “and then the dog says” and does the perfect voice. But I doubt they would do it before like Season 8.
Kaylon is a planet never visited by outsiders, populated by a completely homogenous population of Borg-like robots, and apparently equipped with a robust orbital defensive system. It may simply be that their cities have no system for individual security because there was no need for one, the same way my house doesn’t have anti-kangaroo measures.
What is perhaps more baffling is why they all look like Isaac when Isaac has said in the past that those “eyes” of his are purely cosmetic so humans are less offput by him.
Since the Kaylons are intent on wiping out all life in the galaxy, they shouldn’t be a big deal–it is already established that there are other civilizations in the area advanced enough to concider the Alliance to be quaint and primitive (such as the zookeepers.) Let them swat the Kaylons like a slightly annoying insect.
Well he is v.2, the only one built after the genocide of their makers. His makers, the other Kaylons, may have felt that humans would find blue less threatening while their makers had decided on red.
Here’s a thing, well two really, that bothered me: they’ve shown in the past that Isaac can think/react much faster than humans, such as when he debugged some computer system. So why were the two guards on the shuttle bay so easily dispatched by Bortus? Who actually wasn’t even quick for a human in firing at them.
Secondarily, why was he given that task at all? Shouldn’t that have been EXACTLY in the Security Chief’s domain? Add that on top of the fact that their security protocols can’t even stop a grade schooled child from strolling out of the ship… well, color me not at all impressed by her.
I was surprised that Isaac said he’d named himself after Sir Isaac Newton. I thought he’d named himself for Isaac Asimov (of the Three Laws of Robotics). Wonder if he was lying to Primary about that?
Forget Isaac. I have a different question. Why hadn’t Yaphet been oozing through the engineering tunnels all along, disabling links, shorting out connections, and generally rendering the Orrville pretty much dead in space while the humans tried to think of a way out?
Minimally he is the only one built after the genocide that is on the ship that Prine referred to as “us”. Unless Prime was lying.
Also to be precise Prime claimed they were exceeding the information capacity of the planet. Not the physical capacity. It is completely possible that they run many agents without any physical forms whatsoever let alone as humanoid forms.
Question- did the Kaylon ships have humanoid form Kaylons on them? Or were all those Kaylons deactivated by Issac? Are the ships sentient Kaylons? The concept was referenced earlier but it makes sense that they would be.
I would be surprised if Isaac were the only one built after the genocide. What would be the point of that?
That’s a good point, although I believe they saw Kaylons as being equal to them, so not quite like an insect. Same goes for the people who come from the high gravity planet.
Haha, no doubt.
It’s weird how there did seem to be a lot of stuff that was rushed or done offscreen in the second part; whereas the first part seemed padded. I guess the problem is that they felt they had to have the halfway point of the two-parter be at the cliffhanger point. Maybe they could have had the point where Isaac is asked to kill Ty be the cliffhanger?
Well that was definitely the darkest and most intense episode of the series so far, but no recurring characters died and Isaac still get’s to keep his job. :dubious: Yes Isaac did sacrifice himself (he didn’t expect to be reactivated) to save his friends, and there it’s plausible for the Union to offer him some kind of asylum, but still. I’ll never be able to look at him the same way again. Also the Union is kinda proving the Kaylons’ point given how they’re going to treat all those “POWs”.
What is the point of having any more humanoid form Kaylons at all?
They were created in that specific form, with faux eyes, for the sake of what their makers felt comfortable with. Why make any more in that form at all? Why make any more with any independent physical forms at all?
Issac though was purpose built to be a form and function most acceptable to humans. It was a one time need.
