Awesome. Good for him.
What concerns me is the following:
I’m at work right now and I don’t have access to Saltines. Someone please tell me: Is it really difficult to eat six saltines in a minute?
It’s easy to eat six saltines in a minute if you have a glass of water with you. The bar bet is to eat six in a minute with nothing to drink. The catch is that the saltines absorb all of your saliva, and make it nearly impossible to swallow the last few.
Reading that linked article, though, I only wish that it had happened when I was attending college in Boston - I would have definitely taken on that challenge. Probably lost, but I’d give it the old college try.
Which is, suitably, eating a disgustingly large amount of food and then going back to sleep.
How many other people are now going to head home and down 6 saltines?
Heck, I’m stopping at the store to buy some.
It’s harder than you think. But not as hard as people say. And technically, I think, you have to put them all in at once.
astro: Thank you. Of course, with a thread title like that you know you’re gonna love the thread, but this was better than I expected.
Six saltines seems easy. But a guy who can eat three pounds of meat that quickly might be able to eat six packages of saltines. Who knows?
Redundant.
Ukulele Ike must be a Yale man.
Eating contests always make me wonder what someone from a third world country would think about a story in which a man is lauded for consuming three pounds of beef in a few minutes. In a country in which food is sometimes hard to come by, whispered rumors of a distant land in which food is so plentiful that contests are held to see who can eat the most of it in the shortest time must be hard to believe.
My thoughts exactly. I think food contests are disgusting for that precise reason.
Mind you, I realise that there’ll always be economical differences in the world. I have no problem consuming a fine, expensive 7 course meal, accompanied by a fine bottle of wine.
But eating food as a competition, to see who can eat the most? Disgusting.
