I don’t think there is anything else about that story that will be revealed, it seemed pretty straight-forward to me. The close-up of her letting go of his hand was because she was saying goodbye and left to kill herself. The kids nails were dirty because she had him help her in the garden but he wanted to play with his tricycle or just cause he’s a kid and plays in dirt. She looked hot and sweaty when she first came in like she had been outside for a while.
I think it was balanced in that it just portrayed the actions without too much editorial. That doesn’t mean it did anything to make it look good. It’s not like it showed things from the agent’s point of view. The show has many side stories that try to show aspects of modern hospitals without turning it into the main story. I don’t see an issue with the storyline. Also remember this was written before the events in Minnesota.
It was known he was in rehab but apparently not the issues around it. You are right though. No way it would remain a secret. Too many people would know including administration staff to keep it a secret. Three people can keep a secret if two of them are dead.
Maybe we won’t learn anything about that mom, but my theory is that she’s very proud of her garden. She found her kid messing with it – maybe digging things up – and went ballistic. She put him in the car not so much for a timeout as for a punishment and left him too long.
I think I see the Langdon-Santos conflict from both sides. They’re similar types, and they can’t help butting heads.
I don’t think anybody told administration staff. Robbie basically told Langdon to take a leave and go to rehab or he would expose his malfeasance. The fact that Santos kept silent means Langdon owes her a hell of a lot more than that weak-ass apology.
One review I read pointed out that the masked ICE agent complied with Robbie’s request that he get out of the open area and stay in the treatment room with the detainee/patient. In reality, ICE agents seem much less willing to be cooperative.
As for Langdon, it appears that he didn’t go through any sort of disciplinary process when Robbie suspended him and sent him to rehab. And it wasn’t just that he was addicted to drugs; he also stole narcotics from Louie (and from the hospital as well?). Should he be subject to periodic or random drug testing now?
That’s… quite a reach without anything to base it on and not something that would be discovered within 3 hours. If this were ER and the cases were way more sensationalistic and over-exaggerated, maybe.
Reluctantly, and then he immediately responded by violently arresting the nurse, as if his ego was bruised and he had to prove just how much power he had.
I think that people knew that Langdon had a drug issue and was suspended for it.
It’s clear that Robbie and Santos did not mention to anyone he was stealing drugs to support it. If they had, as Santos pointed out, he would have lost his license to practice medicine.
No one else in the ER would know about stealing drugs. Neither Santos or Robbie had any reason to tell anyone.
Almost as if he was a person and not an evil robot. He didn’t immediately comply but weighed his options. It seemed pretty organic to me.
He’s a resident. For him to leave the resident program and then come back would mean a lot of people above Robby would have to know. He runs the ER. He doesn’t run the hospital’s resident program.
I suppose the show is saying that they kept it secret that he stole medication. In the real world that seems unlikely. Robby could lose his license over that and he’s too pissed to want to go out on a limb. Santos has no reason to lie for him. She knew him for a couple of hours and definitely wouldn’t want to jeopardize her license for him. From what I understand they take those issues even more seriously post Charles Cullen than they did in the past. It’s unrealistic but good for the show.
I’ve just gone through and read the Wikipedia synopses for all 26 episodes streamed to date.
If I’m following right, Dana and Dr Garcia also know of Langdon’s thefts. Langdon told Dana himself earlier this season. Santos told Garcia back in Season 1, though Garcia dismissed Santos’ concern at the time.
And now it seems Dr Al-Hashimi has learned of the thefts as well. Stay tuned.
EDIT: I have Dana’s knowledge sourced incorrectly. In season 1, Dr Robby asked Dana to perform the pharmacy audit on Langdon. Langdon did discuss his rehab with Dana earlier this season, but that’s not how she learned of the thefts.
I thought that Roxie’s “death doula” was a private hire by Roxie’s family, but her conversation with Dana after Roxie’s passing suggests she is a hospital employee, even possibly an ER nurse? Did I miss something?
Both. She’s the ED charge nurse (Dana’s role) on the night shift and is moonlighting as a death doula.
Edited to add, I think many of the nurses work three twelve-hour shifts during a week. That leaves time during the rest of the week if they want another job. I’ve known nurses who work a full schedule at a second hospital, or they might be available to be called in for extra shifts at the hospital where they regularly work.
Yes she was in the first season as Dana’s relief. Because everyone had to put in extra time there was overlap between the two of them for several hours/episodes.
Plus, stealing drugs in a hospital isn’t exactly unheard of. I would expect just about everyone to have assumed he was stealing drugs in one way or another, once they heard he was in rehab.
I wonder if Dr Al-Hashimi was feigning ignorance of the thefts when speaking in private with Dr Robby. She asked him directly whether Langdon stole drugs from the ER and he did not address the question. Was she asking a question to which she already knew the answer to see how Dr Robby would respond?
