From Trump’s speech at the Economic Club of New York, September 5 2024
Donald Trump was asked about child care. See if you can understand his response.
Well,
I would do that
And we’re sitting down,
You know,
I was,
Somebody,
We had Sen. Marco Rubio
And my daughter, Ivanka
Qas so impactful
On that issue.
It’s a very important issue.
But I think
When you talk about
The kind of numbers
That I’m talking about that,
Because the child care
Is child care.
It’s something,
you have to have it in this country.
You have to have it.
But when you talk
About those numbers
Compared to
The kind of numbers
That I’m talking about,
By taxing foreign nations
At levels that they’re not use to,
But they’ll get use to it very quickly.
And it’s not gonna stop them
From doing business with us.
But they’ll have
A very substantial tax
When they send product
Into our country.
Those numbers are
So much bigger
Than any numbers
Ee’re talking about,
Including child care.
We’re gonna have,
I look forward
To having no deficits
Within a very short period of time.
Coupled with the reductions
That I told you about
On waste and fraud
And all of the other things
That are going on
In our country,
because I have to stay with child care.
I want to stay with child care.
But those numbers
Are small
Relative to the kind of economic numbers
I’m talking about,
Including growth.
Growth also headed up
By what the plan is
I just,
That I just told you about.
We’re gonna be taking in
Trillions of dollars,
And as much as child care is talked about
As being expensive,
It’s relatively speaking
Not very expensive
Compared to the kind of numbers
We’ll be taking in.
We’re gonna make this
Into an incredible country
That can afford
To take care of its people,
And then
We’ll worry
About the rest of the world.
Let’s help other people,
But we’re gonna
Take care of our country first.
This isn’t about America first.
It’s about make America great again.
And we have to do it
Because right now
We’re a failing nation.
So we’ll take care of it.
Now who can argue with that? I think we’re all indebted to Gabby Johnson for clearly stating what needed to be said. I’m particulary glad that these lovely children were here today to hear that speech. Not only was it authentic frontier gibberish, it expressed a courage little seen in this day and age.
That doesn’t work. You can’t shame women with that answer.
“You can’t afford child care? You should have thought about that before you spread your legs. You were raped? Well, you shouldn’t have worn that dress.”
what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
From his Detroit speech (some punctuation added by me)
These things were coming
cylinders, no wings, no nothing
and they’re coming down very slowly,
landing on a raft in the middle of the ocean someplace with a circle. **Boom**.
Reminded me of the Biden circles that he used to have, right?
He’d have eight circles and he couldn’t fill ’em up.
But then I heard he beat us with the popular vote.
I don’t know,
I don’t know…
Couldn’t fill up the eight circles
I always loved those circles
they were so beautiful
They were so beautiful to look at.
In fact the person that did them
that was the best thing about his …
the level of that circle was great.
But they couldn’t get people,
so they used to have the press stand in those circles,
because they couldn’t get the people.
Then I heard we lost,
‘Oh, we lost.’
Later in the speech Trump gave the following semi-haiku:
The word grocery. It’s a sort of simple word.
It sort of means everything you eat.
The stomach is speaking
This article suggests he might be referring to social distancing circles, which seems like a good guess but its really only a guess since there is no context what so ever in Trump’s speech.
Arnold Palmer was all man.
And I say that
in all due respect to women,
and I love women,
but this guy,
this guy,
this is a guy
that was all man.
This man was strong and tough.
And I refuse to say it,
but when he took showers
with the other pros,
they came out of there,
they said,
‘oh my God,
that’s unbelievable.’
I had to say it,
I had to say it.
We have women
that are highly sophisticated here,
but they used to look at Arnold,
but he was really something special.
Arnold was something special.
