It would be fun to have a thread that serves as a ready reference to the more popular nonsense threads at SDMB. The idea of “nonsense” will probably vary by individual, but the lack of a specific point or topic would be a good clue as to the sort of thing to be included here.
In the spirit of two that I started in 2009…

Both of the “survey” threads mentioned above include links to (or at least descriptions of) some of the noteworthy nonsense efforts, so if any of those rise to the level of significance in your mind to be included here, please link to them.
In any case, please use links to the threads you want to include here.
Please let the “at least 100 posts” criterion apply to your choice(s).
However, on that very search I see that some of your threads actually had a point. Regardless, here are three worth a look by those who have yet to see them:
I still harbor a secret desire for a “God Forum” for all the people who want to talk endlessly about something that cant be answered, has no answers and no possibility of ever having any answers. But a link to all those threads might be amusing.
This one about a movie slated to take home best picture at the Oscars is well over a hundred posts, filled with nonsense and even survived being zombified, shut down and re-opened.
No doubt! Most of the really silly ones get locked before the first 20 posts are in. I can attest to that with a list of at least 10 of mine that were zapped almost before a reply came in.
However, the classics from before the Hammer of Doom became the norm are available to be read (and revered) for entertainment value. It’s those that many people never even investigate.
If we were to point to the better ones (use “better” in your own way) perhaps the value they had at the time might be appreciated.
That reminds me of Not Coming To A Theater Near You which was started 11-07-2009, 05:23 PM by Malleus, Incus, Stapes! and had run to #896 by 08-20-2010, 01:25 PM with a post by furryman – just over a year ago. It has a theme and almost a point, but there is some magnificent nonsense there.
Two other posts worth looking at (I feel) are this one and this one
