The yodeler will be about halfway up the mountain, then it will stop. Everyone will pause for a second while Barker gets ready to move the game along. The contestant will catch a glimpse of her sister in the audience. Then
In a spoiler box, did the wheel come off the hinges and injure Barker, a contestant, a Beauty, or members of the audience? I’m deciding whether to bother recording tonight’s show, as I won’t be home. If nothing out of the ordinary happened, then I won’t bother.
Okay, I haven’t watched TPIR in probably 20 years, but I loved it as a kid so I DVR’d this morning’s show and just watched it.
I was surprised there wasn’t more done in way of tribute to Barker. There was mention here and there of some of the contestants camping out for days to get in, and Bob gave a very brief thank you as the credits rolled, but that was it. Kind of anticlimactic.
As for the pricing games, I found them kind of disappointing as well:
There WAS Plinko and there was the cash register game, but no Golden Road, no Hole In One, no mountain climber, no Clock Game, no Dice Game. Most of the games were not as exciting or fun as the ones I remember liking as a kid.
So long, Bob! You were a great host. And thanks for that one last reminder to spay and neuter my pets!
No Hole in One?!?!? But that’s CLASSIC Bob! The show just isn’t (wasn’t :() worth watching if Bob didn’t get a chance to humiliate a contestant by showing them how EASY it is to get a hole in one.
Of course, sometimes he did miss, and that would have been a bummer of a way to go out.
There were two other references I noticed: the audience threw confetti when Bob Barker walked into the studio, and the TV which was the first item up for bids was showing the opening of Bob’s very first show. There already was a special prime-time Price is Right honoring Bob’s career a few months ago, so I guess they wanted to do something plain for the last show.
