The Prime Day 2024 thread

NY Post has a story about sex toys on sale for Prime Day; I’ll let you find it yourself if interested.

I didn’t buy anything on that list or anything else, I don’t see the value in paying $100+ per year as I very rarely buy anything from them

AirPods Pro 2 are on sale for $169.99, the lowest I’d ever seen. Which was perfect timing because I have the first gen from 2019 and mine started having a lot of static over the weekend that Apple said would be almost $200 to replace! Even better was Best Buy priced matched Amazon and I was able to trade in my old ones for an additional $45 off. Score!

I also bought an external hard drive for $20 off the regular price, a cover for my Kindle Fire for a few $$ cheaper than it had been last week and a new Apple Wallet, all Prime Day sales.

Sigh. Anybody else see the title of this thread, think “oh yeah, 7/17, primes” and open the thread hoping to read about some interesting nerdy holiday (nerdliday?)? Oh well.

Now that I think about it, of course I know about “Prime Day” as a shopping event, don’t know why it didn’t occur to me.

Prime Day has just gotten so commercial nowadays…

Actually I just realized that I didn’t know whether the date of Prime Day is in fact deliberately chosen to include prime month/day numbers, because, math pun! Apparently not, though. :frowning:

Dang, I bought those just a couple months ago. They’re very good.

I’m on a Lego kick right now so I snagged a 30% discount on a set that’s been sitting in my wishlist for a few months, the recent smaller scale Millennium Falcon. I just got notified it’s been delivered.

My wife has needed a bigger phone due to the hours she spends in a bunny suit (in the cleanroom, get your minds out of the gutter!) at work, so we’ve been checking size/feature options and making a decision. Last night, during the closing hours, the Google Pixel 8 Pro went on sale from 999 USD to 699 (although it’s almost always on sale with carriers for 899, so a touch misleading) - so 200 off a solid new phone for her (she’s running with an iPhone SE 2nd Gen right now, but she’s OS agnostic and the Pro is the best size we found for her needs and hands).
