I am so excited about this movie. Can’t wait to see what Cuaron does with it. Chris Colombus, IMHO, did a great job with the last two movies as far as getting the sets & the atmosphere, etc. right, but somehow he missed the heart and soul of the books.
I have high hopes that Cuaron will do better, and this teaser is definitely encouraging.
Check out the dementor. Very cool, no?
And it’s worth the download time just to see Snape in drag.
I like the Dementor a lot, as well as Hogsmeade. It still totally weirds me out how much Harry and co. age between movies, and I miss Dumbledore, but I can’t wait for this movie.
Not the greatest trailer, really… a couple good moments, but nothing that really made me sit up and take notice yet. Still, I’m looking forward to the movie.
If you ever say something like that again, I will personally some to your house and stuff 500$ worth of John WIlliam’s soundtracks up your tuckus. There are some things in this world you justdon’tdo. That, is one of them.
Yeah, jeez. The man did as much for the SF boom in the late 70s as George Lucas almost.
I just watched the trailer without sound. I agree that the Wanted Poster should be more sullen but otherwise it looks good. We’ll take Baby Kate to see it next year. She’ll be four!
smiling bandit, are you going on Williams’ reputation? Because you obviously haven’t heard the dross he plastered all over the Harry Potter movies. Having $500 worth of records shoved anywhere would barely trouble me, after the clunky emotional cues Williams shoved down my throat during that score (yes, I get it, Harry finds all this magic stuff really wondrous, can we quit with the sugary strings already?).
Why the hell not? I can imagine several composers who could have done better than Williams’ trite offerings for the HP movies. Hell, Williams himself can do better, as evidenced by his work twenty-plus years ago, or even recently by his surprisingly original score for Catch Me If You Can.
I’m no hater of John Williams in general, and I recognize that he’s done some good work in the past, but his music for Harry Potter is just bland (worse, however, was his music for Attack of the Clones). So much more could be done with it, it’s one of the few major disappointments I have with the HP movies so far. I’d be quite happy to see someone else take the musical reins in forthcoming installments.
There. Now I expect you’ll be over soon with your $500 worth of John Williams music.
Did anyone see Draco Malfoy in the trailer? - he aged/looks odd, and people were worried about Harry, Ron and Hermione’s aging, which I think all three look age appropriate and look good.
Is that a new Dumbledore, or some kind of magic digital Richard Harris?
As for the poster’s demeanor, maybe all magical wanted posters are made in such a way that the wanted individual looks dangerous and scary, urging people to be extra vigilant or whatever. Or it could be the work of a sort of magical police sketch artist. After all, do they ever go in to how magical “photos” work? Maybe it requires a talented spellcaster to capture all the nuances of the moment, and when photographing criminals they are more likely to think of them as crazy/dangerous. I really like that second explanation.
Very excited, and the trailer looks great (although I do agree about Sirus’s picture). I’ll have to reread the book in a few months, as it’s been about a year since I read it last. Fun.
Cool… I thought we had to wait for next thanksgiving!
New Dumbledore looks great. I kinda pictured Sirius more burly, but Oldman is always a treat. Can’t wait to see what the new director brings to the table. I was very disappointed by both movies so far. 2 was better than 1, but neither captured the heart of the books.
Hey, Lisa-go-Blind, we share a birthday! I guess my plans for the day are already set.
re: Sirius’ Wanted poster. Keep in mind that at the this point in the movie, we’re still supposed to think he’s evil incarnate, the worst sort of betrayer. Also, remember Fudge at Madame Rosmerta’s talking about how Sirius just stood there and laughed like a loon as they took him in? He was hysterical at the time. (Who wouldn’t be?) So I think the wild laughter and crazy appearance in the poster is appropriate.
The chorus is growing on me. I like the music, and I imagine we’re seeing the Halloween banquet. Maybe we’ll see/hear the chorus scene interspersed with shots of Black sneaking through the castle to attack the Fat Lady? That could be good…
