The pumpkin spice (bleck!) MMP [Old]

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out with heavy rain and with a predicted high of 65 with rain off and on throughout the day. Looks like it will settle down for a couple of hours around ten, however. This is a good thing cause we want to go to Sonny’s for N.O.L as they have their sammich special (sammich, side, and a drink) all day today. We figure on goin’ around eleven to beat the crowd. That will take care of the main need to feed for the day. The rest of the day shall be spent in sloth and general overall uselessness as is our wont.

JtC GG is indeed a big boy! Handsome as well. VBC looks like she could or could not tolerate his presence. She is a pretty girl

shoe hope you have a successful rat purchase and that Pretzel is soon no longer hangry.

nellie hope you got some good sleep and are feelin’ better today.

Nettie hope y’all are able to go back home soonest. Glad Allie and Buddy are gettin’ along.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Good morning everyone.

It’s 54F and cloudy outside, but the expected high is 66F, and sunshine should bust out in the afternoon.

I’ve been up since 2:30 this morning, no thanks to the husband’s tossing, turning, and scratching. I gave up on getting any more sleep, showered, and came downstairs. I am…not rested.

The workday was long due to many things, and today will probably be the same. I need staff to take care of some things, but of course, their supervisor is out of the net, I need accounting codes, and I need people to take care of their travel documents. I have a day and a half left this week, and I foresee none of that getting done. Next week, I’m on my own since the MPA is out due to a major surgery for her daughter. I totally get that, and I’d want to be there too. After her daughter’s surgery, she must take care of the grandkids.

As usual, there are too many irons in the fire and not enough people to help get things done. My budget analyst is also on leave, and his sub, while nice, is not exactly good at what she does, which translates into even more work for me.

shoe, I’m sorry to hear about sniky snik, but am glad you have a plan of action. I hope it works.

nellie, I also hope you get some answers and help fast.

nettie, I really hope you get to go home very soon.

The kitties are certainly beautiful.

Time for some more coffee. Today is a three cup day.

Mornin’ all - an hour post-dawn and I’ve been out here two hours now. Overall cloudy & a bit breezy, with the usual chance of spotty rain. Now 84/29 on the way to 90/32. Was coolish (~80) pre-dawn.

Shoe I’m glad you shared the ASF & snake story, but it’s a darn shame it got that bad before you’ve been able to course correct. Gonna be OK though. I often remind people that problems that took months to assemble will also take months to disassemble; no instant gratification with that kind of issue. Like Home Depot almost says: You can do it; we can commiserate.

Taters it seems that office is one giant conspiracy to piss you off. And no, I’m not for an instant thinking you’re imagining things; they really are out to get you.

Glad to hear FCD is heading home, obliviously though he may do it. Darn shame you weren’t able to stock up on sleep during his absence.

No clue about my day; the weather is not looking very beach-compatible. Her Ladyship will be gone all afternoon for Mah Jongg so I ought to come up with something good to do.

Happy Thor’s day. Cheers all!

I pronounce it ‘uh’.

Morning all. Another fine day in N. Ali-bama, about 66F heading for 78F and no rain in the forecast (well, we’ll hope not…the rain we got last night wasn’t in the forecast either). Gym and soccer coaching will help burn off calories today and I might even do some house-cleaning while I’m at it.

My Panama Canal cruise starts 7 November, so I do need to start thinking about it in terms of organization; I have all my reservations and tickets, but packing, readying the house, etc. need to be done in the next several weeks…sigh, guess I’m going to have to make a list.

{{nellie}}, you take care of yourself, y’hear?!?!

shoe, a most interesting story, considering all you’ve been through recently it’s not too surprising that this snuck up on you. Best wishes to the rat-raising and Pretzel’s imminent feasting.

JtC, GG is HUGE! And that corn looks like something from a Steven King book/movie.

And while I am not a cat person, those are lovely photos from all of you.

Seanette, hope you get back into the house soon…and can fix a meal fit for a returning lady.

boo fae, sorry friend lost her Mum, best wishes to her. Hope work (and travel) settles down.

Taters, do what you can and leave what you must; keep your own sanity as a priority.

OK, have broken fast and now need to bestir myself and clean up some before venturing into the great outdoors. All y’all take care.

I rely on my wife to pronounce these things for me. She’s of Polish descent and has studied the language, even though it was rarely spoken in her home.

Breakfast today: Hash browns, eggs and sausage. Nothing on the agenda, as I’m taking a rest day after yesterday’s exercises. The wife is going to tour a lint factory or something with a gaggle of other residents. Not for me.

Looks like we may have rain moving in over the next few days. At least they finally turned on the building heat yesterday.

They’ll likely put you on antibiotics for a week to knock that down and have you come in for a visual. Take care. Ice it, if you can.

It’s one of those things that if fixed surgically doesn’t always stay fixed plus I’m at that lovely age of “we don’t recommend that for someone of your age with your other complicating conditions”. So I get to just deal with it with a raft of dietary restrictions and regular monitoring to catch if the stomach acid is causing pre-cancerous damage in my often uncomfortable esophagus (then I guess all hell breaks loose medically). Again, at ‘my age’ Prilosec shouldn’t be taken for more than 8 weeks because long term it has been found to greatly increase the likelihood of dementia. I’d rather have constant heartburn than dementia, so here I am.

Are you making a full transit or just in and out?

FCD just called from Washington, Pa because his exit was closed with no detour. Then he was caught in a traffic jam, but I was able to help him out. But, of course, it’s a delay. I may get back from taking Tobias before he gets here. We shall see.

No Wiggle Giggle today - the kidlet seems out of sorts bordering on sick. So we’re staying home with Bluey. Rah.

Almost lunchtime tho.

It’s a freakin’ gorgeous day outside. AND the husband unit had to go into the office, so since today is one of my work from home days, the house is quiet. For now. It’s an early release day for the kids - fall break, doncha know - but the girl is going to a friend’s house after school and the boy will be home for about an hour before driving himself to cross country.

Of course, the reason I’m working from home is Thursdays are ridiculously meeting-ful. Whatever. It’s quiet and I can think (and have just jinxed myself). I’m hoping I’ll at least get some time to waddle while it’s light outside (after peeing, shoe); my waddling partner has bronchitis so I didn’t go this morning but it sure was nice not to be ambulatory at that hour. I should go to mom’s house tonight and drive her car around the block to make sure it stays in decent condition.

I don’t love going to mom’s house because the place smells like her before she got sick. It feels like I’m going to walk in and find her watching TV, ready to chat. Anyway, it’s gotta be done sometime. In the meantime, I might step out on my porch for a minute and enjoy the birds before the next meeting.

Full transit, leaving from Miami and docking in Los Angeles, with 4-5 stops along the way. From LA I immediately head for Brother’s place for Thanksgiving, so will be on the road for nearly 3 weeks in November.

I want to make a full transit. We did in-and-out from Fort Lauderdale before the plague hit - what little I saw of the canal was fascinating!

Dammit, the husband unit read his email wrong. He doesn’t have to go into the office and just walked in. I love the man, but dang he’s distracting. But not as much as being in a cubicle. Ah, well. First world problems.

do they harvest the lint from industrial sized pockets?

Is there a reliable cite for that? I’ve been taking Prilosec for years without issue.

Midnight got their act together, so we started on time. Howeer, both SSLAWs kept going down more than The Mustang Ranch Employee Of The Month, so it still ran long. I hit Teeter for stuff. They were out of stuffed Queen olives. I was in a state of mild rage for at least 30 seconds. Now it’s time to nap and dream. Zombies? Hangry pet Allosauruses? Lesbian witch covens? Tune in and see.

Is Cherry afraid of the sound of tape and wax paper? Spot is, which is an odd feline trauma.

Taters, have you thought of finding a slightly less stressful job? Something like the Baghdad bomb squad, or narco cartel squealer?

Recently I have been reading about what looks like alien monsters living in the Amazon:

PS: If you don’t think this is an alien monster, what do you think it is?

It’s almost 2:15 on a sunny Thursday here 10 miles west of the White House, with a current temp of 71°F and a forecasted high of 73. My windows are open for the second consecutive afternoon. :window:

Bailey had some mad zoomies on the bed last night! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her quite like that! At one point she suddenly leapt off the side of the bed and kind of went *splat* when she hit the hardwood floor (between not having any purchase on the wood, and her hips being crap). Normally she jumps off/on the foot of the bed, where there’s a nonslip area rug and a big storage ottoman she uses as a step, but at the time I was kneeling on the ottoman and playing with her. For a moment I was worried that she’d hurt herself, but she quickly scrambled up on all fours and walked away without so much as a limp…and then proceeded to spend a few seconds zooming up and down the hallway rug, which I’d never seen her do before! Crazy mutt.

I could use some of that energy: I am so not motivated to go to the gym today. Worse than Tuesday. While nuking a leftover tuna melt for lunch I even briefly considered texting my trainer and pretending to be sick, but (like on Tuesday) I know I’ll be glad to be there once I’m there. Until then, though: meh!

My “I just have to get past this point” point is getting changed. I work from home in glasses and pretty much PJs (sleep pants or sweatpants [today it’s these] and a random t-shirt [today it’s this]), and when it’s gym time I change into my Kohl’s Tek Gear workout stuff: leggings with pockets, and one of four tops that I bought specifically for the gym. I also put contact lenses in, so I don’t have to worry about the glasses falling off due to sweat or gravity, and I wear a plain black baseball cap over a ponytail so I won’t get distracted by worrying about how my hair looks. Basically, I have a workout uniform. Once I’m in that, I may still need to grab my water bottle or say goodbye to the dog but I’m pretty ready to go.

Keeping fingers crossed for you… :crossed_fingers:

I had one fixed at the same time as my gastric bybass surgery; I didn’t know that they don’t always stay fixed! :worried: Mine actually better stay fixed, because a billing screwup resulted in me paying $4K out-of-pocket for that part of the procedure (the rest was covered by insurance).

I paid the bill before learning that I shouldn’t have, and I spent a long time trying to get reimbursed – repeatedly talking to both my insurance company and the bariatric center – before finally giving up. I’ve (mostly) come to terms with it.

Some flavor of caterpillar?

I LOL’d.

I’m putting together provisions for this drive (gotta have snax! and a water bottle!) and today I learned that while Monkey won’t actually eat Burger King chicken nuggets, he will lick them obsessively.

Even after being shoo’ed away. And the bag they’re in tied tightly. And then he got gently patted with a fly swatter (that’s usually enough discipline for him) and oh my gawd he’s STILL after those bad boys.

I told my sweet manager last night that I’m making this drive, and said, “If you get an ‘I’m home safe!’ text later, that’s why!” (because temp drivers license, outta state plates, no insurance, yadda yadda she knows all that B.S. about me) and she said, “I love that! Please let me know.”
… and if anyone wants to know why I’m loyal to the hilt to what amounts to most people’s idea of a shit job, that ^^ is a huge reason why.

That’s just the first one that came up when I google -Prilosec dementia risk-. There are many articles, all with varying opinions. The study is not alleging causation at this point, merely significant correlation. The correlation was found when people were followed for years of taking proton pump inhibitors, 5-6 years. There can be other side effects like osteopenia, which I also need to avoid, so it was a pros and cons decision for me, you and your doctor may weigh your pros and cons differently.
