The pumpkin spice (bleck!) MMP [Old]

'Tis the season for layoffs apparently. They let about 1,000 people go yesterday and a few hundred more today. At least they didn’t do it during the holidays?

I didn’t get to my mom’s place yesterday but I will tonight hopefully. I went out to dinner with a small group of friends instead for Indian food. It was nice. Tonight I might have a friend over to binge watch TV after doing a shelf at mom’s and driving her car. Hopefully I’ll get a waddle in today (didn’t yesterday), but if I don’t I’ll just do it tomorrow.

Just one more meeting today. Maybe. Oh! Almost forgot - anybody watching the eclipse this weekend? I’m pretty jazzed about it. My son’s got a cross country meet during the eclipse so we’ll be at a park anyway. I get stupid excited about these things. Hope everyone’s having a good (or at least not so bad) day.

I resisted the urge to yell “EXCELSIOR!” when I reached the landing.

Well, it was a Friday the 13th(although without any axe murders. As far as I know, I didn’t peek in unload or anything). Senior Clerk was out, so I was covering for her. When I wasn’t on the 200 table or the Mez. I finally got out at 11:30, mainly because the Overgoods printers plotzed. I returned the portable grinder I found back to maintenance and left. I had to dodge an accident, as a chick in a Lincoln misjudged how fast she could gun it across 5 lanes of traffic, and got the nose of her car sheered off by the SUV that was in the right, both by the laws of traffic, and of physics. I had to stop at the Likker Sto, because somebody drank all my rum. < glares at Lush Cat > And TVCTPMO was digging a hole in the middle of one lane, so it was 1 lane a quarter mile each way. But laundry is spinning, I’m squeaky clean, and time to hit the hay.

I don’t mind it because 1. I’m too cheap to pay a maid. 2. I like bringing the appearance of order to an otherwise chaotic universe. 3. I’ve had a series of roommates who would resemble the Trash Heap from Fraggle Rock if left unchecked. NYAH!

Yay for feeling somewhat better, nellie.

Yay for stairing, Cookie!

It’s the way I’d want to go. Either that or go out of the world like I came into it, naked, screaming, and covered with another person’s blood and fluids.

I moved the Jeep to the end of the driveway, and pulled the MGB out of the ‘garage’. The tonneau cover went back into the boot, and the hood is now covering the cockpit. Then I did some cleaning at the back end of the ‘garage’ (I still have to remember to zip it up) and threw a bunch of stuff away. I bungeed the Yakima rack to the ‘garage’ frame, and put the unused Jeep tire in it. We got a 10-foot shade for the patio (now catio) a few years ago. I was going to use the large cardboard tube it came in for something, but I forgot what. So I got out the circular saw, cut it up, and threw it into the trash bin. The MG is back under cover. Next, I pulled weeds along the house where my kayak will rest on its rack in Winter. I was going to put the charger on the Jeep’s battery just to ensure it’s topped off, but I couldn’t get the hood open. (American hood on the Jeep, English hood on the MG. ) So I started it and let it run for about 10 or 15 minutes. I decided to try the hood release one more time, and it worked. So now I have the battery charger on it.

Next up: Back to irk!

In keeping with this week’s MMP theme…

While I was making a mini-groc stop I encountered Bonne Maman brand pumpkin spice spread in a tub display next to the rest of the regular PB & J plus breads. Back when I ate a lot of preserves and such I thought their stuff was fine, but nothing special. “Limited Edition” it says, so hurry up and buy! The carb label suggests it won’t be too beastly sweet, and it appears to otherwise just be pumpkin butter which I like but now rarely eat, so a jar came home with me.

I had just come from a late lunch that was probably about my carb limit already, so tasting the spread will have to wait awhile yet. Such suspense. But y’all will get a report, I promise.

You know how you keep talking about your shit memory? My ambition and your memory are a marriage made in heaven. Nothing would get done, but we wouldn’t remember anything needed doing, so it’d all be hunky-dory.

Damn wordie; 1,500 in two days. Hope you’re not somewhere on the “soon to axe” list. I’ve been there and it ain’t fun.

The eclipse should pass my place in the early afternoon. We’re far enough off-axis we’re only getting about 65% solar obscuration. The clouds have been high and thin / fuzzy much of yesterday and today. NWS suggests tomorrow will be more of the same. I’m cautiously optimistic, but even under an unlikely clear blue sky we won’t have too much to see.

Flyboy: A hood release that only works when the engine is warm will be much less fun once it’s cold out or the engine won’t start. Might want to investigate and lube that thing this weekend.

I had that exact thought.

I expected you might, being a mechanical kinda guy and all. At the same time, pointing out the obvious once in awhile saves somebody a real :man_facepalming:.

My usual failure mode is to have the “gotta fix that promptly” thought while it’s fresh, but also when / where I can’t write that down. Once I get to where / when I could write it down, the thought is gone without a trace. Oops. Now that we’ve both written about your latch, we’ll even remember it. Or this half of we probably will. Probably

'I only ride 'em. I don’t know what makes ‘em work’ - Oddball

I loved that line. And that whole movie.

Always with the negative waves, Moriarty. Always with the negative waves.

I learned Polish in the cradle, too! Cicho Cradle, childhood, puberty, all the way into adulthood, parenthood, and grandparenthood. I think it’s my mom’s favorite word!

After a call from our credit union’s fraud prevention folks, we managed to track down and cancel a subscription to AdBlock that FCD inadvertently signed up for (that is, he thought it was $1.99, not $1.99, then $9.95 a month forever…) He doesn’t remember doing it, but it was his email address and it was saved on his PC, so…

The cabbage, onions, and ham are cooking as I type. There’s a sweet potato in the toaster oven for me, since he only likes it with the disgusting marshmallow topping. I’ve priced all the stuff I’ve made, and I’m working on another pair of fingerless gloves. I should also make the gnome my mom ordered for my sister. And due to rain, the fundraiser is rescheduled for Oct 28.

Back to the kitchen with me!

Yep, excitement abounds!

Howdy Y’all! Been a dreary and rainy day here, so glad we are to be inside and dry. Makes for good nappage weather, so there’s that. Also, good weather for day drinkin’ on the back porch. We et an early sup just cause and now I foresee Netflix and chill. Tomorrow will get somewhat bzzy with the ordination and such happenin’. I may even have to forego nappage. The horror! We are not in an area where the eclipse is viewable. Sad cause tommorrow should be clear and N.O.S. Oh well, we were in the path of totality in 2017 and I got to view it then.

Cookie yay for successful stair climbin’!

shoe glad Pretzel’s edible ratties had a good last meal. Seems the proper thing to do.

Ref the map here

pretty much the whole USA will see something, local clouds permitting. GA, AL, and FL will all have about 65% coverage of the Sun. So a crescent Sun will be something different to see, but not a full-bore eclipse.

It was one of my grandfather’s favorite words as well.

I’m glad that you’re feeling a little better nellie. May you continue to improve.

Don’t forget to wear eclipse glasses wordy. You don’t want eye damage.

Nelson got his trip to the dog park after I shopped for groceries. This time, he didn’t get hot and bothered by a girl doggy in heat. His buddies Bandit and Ollie were there, so a good time was had by all.

I fixed a southwest chopped salad (they had the kits on sale at Kroger) and a tunafish wrap on a whole wheat tortilla for supper and am now fixing to mess around in the studio.

So good news from up here. I met with the director of the museum and showed him drawings. When the guy you’re trying to sell says “that’s the best thing I’ve seen all day!” , it seems positive. Zoom meeting with the full board next week, then, cross appendages, a contract. I might be building a boat.

Awesome!!! The only thing harder than drawing the 3D curve of a boat bow is making the 3D curve of a boat bow. I’m assuming this is some sort of non-functional model or display.

Next time, you should definitely do this. Revel in your triumphs!

I will endeavour (the u is for boo fae) to place this in my memory. What a great word! I must remember to teach it to my grandbabehs.

I just got an email from Health Equity saying a charge was declined yesterday. Huh? I haven’t been to the pharmacy in a while. I called, and they told me who the attempted charge was for. Motorcycle part. My computer saves credit cards, and I have several options. Turns out I picked the wrong one. DOH!

I’ll wait until after vacation to buy the part with the right credit card.

WTG VanGo!

flyboy, I did that a few years ago with da Jungle. You’ll get it straightened out.

Well, I tried my pumpkin spice pumpkin butter with dinner. Don’t bother. Nothing wrong with it, but very little right with it either.
