Happy happy!
Although these early ones are not the sweetest, I am just so happy
Cherries are a part of my armamentarium against gout. Yay, cherries!!
Oooh, Raniers! Can’t wait!!!
When I was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington, I found loads of cherry trees planted all over the older part of the place. My father had told me about them, he ate the cherries when he was there during the Korean War. All I had to do was step out the back door of the barracks and grab a handful right off of the tree. Nobody else was eating them because they didn’t know they weren’t supposed to be all red before they were ripe. Forty years later and I still remember those cherries.
I’m already on my second bag of bings. The first bag was perfect, but the second one is only so-so. Doesn’t mean I won’t plow through the whole thing by myself, though. Cherry season is the only thing that makes summer worthwhile.
We’ve had 'em for a few weeks. REally early in the season, farmers will load a truck, head over the Cascade Mountains and set up a table in the 'burbs. Quite popular.
Had some earlier in the week but they were the really small early ones. Heading to the good grocery store tomorrow to buy some.
$6.99 a pound in Ohio. Or $3.99 for bing. Hmmm.
I just bought a 25 pound box of peaches that I have 2 weeks to eat so I passed on the Raniers. For now.
OK, I’ll be the dick. It’s Rainier.
