Ooh, can I come?
I’ll bring my own hula hoops, but I’d be coming through customs…
I will put you on the guest list
Jim
**BoDoug **- my first thought is to compare your recipe to others to see if they are proportionally similar. If you find one of your ingredients is much more or less than in other recipes, that might be a clue. Beyond that, I wouldn’t know where to go - with luck, **Baker **will pop back in and have a simple, logical answer for you. Or some of us might share our recipes and you can try them all till you find one that works for you.
I’m home. We stopped at Red Robin for lunch and at Best Buy so **FCD **could get a gizmo to hold his GPS on his motorcycle. He’s futzing with that now. I’ve got a load of towels in the wash, and I’m going to try some knitting in a bit. Instead of just selling my SofTrivets, I’m making up sets with pot holders, SofTrivets, and dish cloths. If they don’t sell, I’ve got Christmas taken care of.
What I really want to do is nap, even tho I know it’s a bad idea. We’ll see how the afternoon goes.
Well, that was fun.
When I loaded the washer, I also turned on the filter system to make water for the aquarium. One part of the system is a reverse osmosis filter that flushes itself out, requiring a drain. No biggie, except apparently the other night, **FCD **opened the alternate drain to fill some containers with filtered water, and he didn’t close the valve when he was done. I went down to put the towels into the dryer and I was greeted by a flood. My first panicked thought was that my washer was dying, but it was just the valve.
We sucked up most of the water with a wet/dry vac and I’ve got a fire going down there now to help dry the floor and the rug that got soaked. Meanwhile, the towels are in the dryer, a load of jeans is in the washer, and sections of the basement floor are now clean.
You folks are so talky, I can hardly keep up with the thread! LOL
I wish you all could move to Albuquerque - we have a really nice 2 br/2ba apt, it’s under $700/month. I can afford to live here, I could not afford to live in suburban MD - or most anywhere else on the east coast, unfortunately. Yes, I would like to be closer to my “homeland” area but the rents are just too high for me. Even on the eastern shore, which is where I had been thinking of, they are high, plus I’d need a car. Another expense I couldn’t afford. I do like Albuquerque, though, but just wish that my friends and family were closer!
In other news, I am baking banana bread today, I can smell it baking even now and it smells sooo good. I added a bit of chocolate chips to the batter this time, because chocolate just adds to the goodness of the banana bread, in my opinion. Also we found breaded eggplant cutlets in the frozen section of our local supermarket - this is new! Previously, the only grocery I had been able to find them in was a Trader Joe’s! We got two boxes too, so I’ll make a large dish of eggplant parmesan this time.
So sorry about the valve, FCM; glad that you were able to vacuum up the water. BooFae, what, pray tell, is a marmite cocktail?! Or dare I ask! I know what marmite is…ah well, if you like it, go for it, I say.
Happy FIRDAY all!
The basement floor is just about dry - that little stove down there pumps out some BTUs!
My last load for the day is in the dryer - I’ll have one or 2 tomorrow, which it both easy and peasy!
No idea what we’ll do for supper. We had a fairly big lunch and I’m not even close to hungry, even at 4. So I’m guessing leftovers.
I’m an Instrumentation Engineer, not a Chemist!
What’s the deal with RO water, it buffers the pH?
We have a well and we live in a rural area full of farms. Apparently fertilizers seep into the water table and if we use straight well water in our tank, we get all kinds of bad stuff growing in there. But running it thru multiple filters, including RO, gives us a very nice base for the fishies. So every 2 weeks, we need to make about 35 gallons so we can do a water change. This is the water change weekend.
I am in labor and delivery right now I’m being monitored for contractions and getting a shot for the contractions. The medicine is called terbutaline and it makes you feel like you just snorted a line of coke. I’m so wired right now, but everything should be okay. I’ll be able to go home soon. No baby yet!
Best wishes, congratulations, I’m not sure what is appropriate here…
How early are you, Apie?
I am only 30 weeks so this is the way too early to have the baby! She has got to hold off for another 7 weeks at least
sending sticky thoughts to Apie
Wheee! Another month, another spinal injection, and I’m stoned on Valium.
Ooh, I remember terbutaline! Sending sticky thoughts your way.
Got our first financial aid package today and I am very happy it did not give me heart failure. And it’s from the most expensive school he’s looking at, so that’s very encouraging.
Cross your legs Apes. Sticky thoughts for you!
Well as I figured I have a sinus infection with a block on one side. Got a cortisone shot:dubious: and 10 days of strong antibiotics. Leviquin. Haven’t had this one before. And cough syrup.
Was chilly this morn but has warmed up nicely. I took Lucky Louie out to lie in the sunshine on the warm sea wall. Scooter the cat joined us but found her a shady spot.
My house is a mess and I don’t feel like cleaning it. Tomorrow is another day. When that cortisone shot kicks in I probably won’t be able to sleep anyway. I don’t like steroids but they usually work. I had lost another two pounds for a total of about 20 in three months but will probably gain it all back with the steroid hunger.
I live in a very expensive location and a dumpy place will run $1000-1500 if you can find one. Fortunately we own a house but with taxes, three insurances- windstorm, flood and homeowners- it’s probably cheaper to rent.
I hope all have great weekend!
Trust me, little one, you want to stay right where you are. It’s nice and comfy and safe in there. Stay put and keep baking!

I am glad the cookies were brought back up because I wanted to go on record as saying that Really the only bad cookie really is when someone takes a perfectly good oatmael cookie & puts raisins in it.
Busy day today. Did Laundry yesterday & not only the Weekly chores to do, but beginning the deleavening/spring cleaning process also, plus getting ready for our trip this weekend. I will see ya’ll Sunday!

What…the…bananas…sugar…I…head explode
Back when Complicated Friend was Complicated Fiance, my sainted cat Peter woke us up out of a dead sleep with a mighty SBD. Peter had to sleep in the living room that night.
I’m proud of me. I’ve done three days of yoga this week. My lower back is still hurting, but I have an IcyHot patch on it right now telling it to shut up and loosen up.
