The Really Bad Cookies and Other Stuff MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 77 and sunny! A great day to spend all of it indoors cookin’. Oh well, somebody’s gotta do it and contrary to what a lot of my co-parishoners seem to believe, little Leprechauns do not come out of the woodwork and get it all done.

I gotta motivate soonest and purtify so I can get over to the church house and commence with peelin’, choppin’, dicin’ and stew makin’. Ima bring my laptop so’s I can be entertained as needed so be ready to amuse me at a moment’s notice.

Not sure if’n it’s Pearl’s bday or not so, not takin’ any chances…

For the collective amusement of all, I leave you with Another Irish Drinkin’ Song

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Is it just me or do both of them sound like something knocked together in a student kitchen at about 4am?

Except the Marmite steam. How does one even make Marmite steam? Some sort of vapouriser?

I feel most unadventurous with my food choices now. :frowning:

Anyway, I’m orf to a gardening event thing today, and it’s actually quite sunny! Yay!

PS, Apelette, two of my friends have already had babbehs this month- and they both agree that it’s cold out here, so stay in!

Well, I guess it’s official now!

Happy Pearl Day!!!

Just back from a tour of the back yard with Higgs. I took her out on a leash because I’m still in my robe and slippers and if she took off into the neighbor’s yard, well, that’d be bad. So we walked around the yard and she finally peed. I’ll be so glad when the fence is fixed and we can just turn her loose out there.

**FCD **is still abed. I’m still not caffeinated. What’s wrong with this picture?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hippo Birdies, Pearl!

Good Morning! Happy Saturday!

I am up as I am not sleeping well again and mr ems is still snoozing. Today we are headed to Dallas to go the the PGA store so that mr ems can shop like a girl for his birthday present. It was his birthday yesterday. Then we are staying overnight and going out for a nice dinner then headed to Houston to house hunt for the week. Fun times.

Sticky thoughts for babyapes!

Happy Birthday pearl!

I woke up this morning to the horrifying realization that I had forgotten to buy coffee yesterday! I quickly threw on some clothes that were marginally acceptable for appearing in public and made a quick trip to the store.

So, caffeination has now commenced.

flytrap, ugh. Dreams like that are rotten.

Janis, thanks for the suggestion of keeping a piece of the mug. I picked out a shard last night and already have an idea percolating…

I wanna make lamb stew tomorrow, but the lamb in the grocery store is freakin’ expensive.

Happy Sattidy!

I can’t believe I didn’t wake up until 9:30.
I am turning into such a lazy slug.
I’ll blame it on the time change and the dog waking me up at 3am.
Sah-kid was still up and started talking my ear off
thankfully NOT about Smite.
That is when he also informed me that he is out of milk, out of juice, and out of food.
It is 14 degrees above freezing, grey and dreary outside.

I told Sah-kid to be up and ready to leave the house by 9am.
HA! I wasn’t even up and ready by 9am.

We have to go get his glasses, which we didn’t have time to do yesterday since we sat forever at the bank. It was only right before closing that the woman who had been sitting at her desk twiddling her thumbs came over and said she’d be right with us. All she did was ask the other 2 customer service people how much longer before they could see us and satisfying herself that they’d be able to help us and still get out on time, she went back and sat to twiddle her thumbs some more.

So it will be off to get the glasses, and dog food, and grocery shopping
and then
and then…

If I can get motivated and up off my ass and make the drive

go down to Secrets in Ocean City to meet up with some friends and party the night away.

I really should stay home and work, and have to clear it with the kid to make sure he’ll take care of the dog (which he will but the dog won’t sleep in his room and since he’s getting older and wants to go out in the middle of the night I’m not sure how he’ll let the kid know).
Then I have to find a place to stay, except my mother and her bf are down there so maybe I could crash at his place for a few hours before I drive home.

You know you’re getting old when such mundane things as worrying about finding a place to stay keep you from partying the night away.
There’s was a time when I’d just pack a cooler, hop in the truck, drive to the ocean and not worry about a thing.

Oh well, up and at 'em and see where the day goes.

No dreams last night.
Ginny took a while to decide if she wanted to chase her tail or attack her sister.
They settled for playing with a plastic Easter egg. I’ve already rescued it once from under furniture.

happy birthday pearl!

We’ve been to the trash/recycling center, had breakfast, and picked up a power cord for the GPS. I’m about to go to my studio and make some flower pots. We had about 7 drops of rain this morning but it’s sunny now. They still say we’ve got a 70% chance of thundershowers. We shall see…

Howdy from the church house! Everything is peeled, chopped and cookin’ away. Well, everything that’s supposed to be cookin’ away now is cookin’. So here I am hangin’ out for the nonce. Nonce is a word I do not get to use often enough.

There is an assumption that I know where everything in this place is. I do not know where everything is, only the stuff I deal with on a regular basis. So, I impart knowledge such as look in the Sexton’s closet, look in the storage room, look in the Sacristy, look in the pantry. It’s all gotta be somewhere. So whoever’s lookin’ looks and then thinks I’m brilliant because I knew where to look.

Actually relatively productive day- went to the gardenin’ event, got some stuff I’d really been after, then took the hideous giant moth trap of a rug that’s been in my bedroom for the past two years to the recycling centre.

It was so big, it meant moving basically everything in the whole room to get it out, which has taken ages. Still, it’s gone now.

Just got in, and the sky started badly leaking, and there’s thunder 'n hail 'n allsorts- timed that well! The housemate juuust went out to walk to the laundrette

Got a call from the public radio station, which is in the midst of a pledge drive. My husband renewed our pledge yesterday, and today they called to say he’d won one of the drawings – $150 gift certificate to a local antique store! What a pity my husband doesn’t share my enjoyment of antiquing…

I just turned on the gas stove to warm up The Bead Cave and am headed down shortly to work. I really ought to clean and organize, but it’s such a dreary day that sitting and beading in front of the fire sounds very cozy.

Mawnin just barely,
I had a good night last night, BW was fun and the band had a good time. Got home about 2:30 so not too bad.
I am starving so off to the breakfast hut but…

Happy Pearl Day

Happy Saturday all

Jim

Bazillions of cupcakes with green buttercream frostin’ abound in the church house kitchen. The all important run to get some Killian’s red has been accomplished. This is for all the kitchen Leprechauns. Must keep the kitchen Leprechauns happy.

I just rolled my eyes so hard I think I saw my brain. Owie.

Glad you got a better night’s sleep tonight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEARL!

Still haven’t gotten out of the house but I have gotten a lot done inside the house, although you would never know it from the look of things.

I’m about to go jump in the truck and head for the ocean and tell sah-kid he had his chance to go get juice and milk and now it’s too late… suffer!!!

OK, now I have to tell my leprechaun story.

One year, when Father Gallagher was having dinner with us on St. Patrick’s Day, he told my sister and me that if we put a sock on the bedpost overnight, we just MIGHT catch a leprechaun on his way back to the Old Country. We were very excited about the prospect of catching a leprechaun, so we did as instructed. We woke up the next morning and checked our socks. No wiggling leprechauns trying to free themselves, but there was definitely SOMETHING in there. We shook out our socks, and in each one was a real Irish half crown, which the leprechauns must have left as ransom. We were beside ourselves with excitement!

I still have that coin.

So I started the tradition with my son when he was little. Sometimes, he just gets a little “green” in his sock. Last year, I made a beaded Celtic knot necklace for him. This year, I found a really cool pocket knife on Etsy with a Celtic pattern on the case, but it did not arrive in the mail today, so I had to inform my son that the leprechaun’s magic was on a time delay and he’d have to hang his sock on Monday.

Oddservation of the day,

Ran to the corner store as I was out of beer(emergency!!!) and on my way back, actually in my driveway but on foot…

Cute brendle (sp?) dog goes flying past me, running down the sidewalk being chased by a guy on a moped in the street, yelling

“Penny stop”

“Penny you are a good girl”

Penny was rather obviously running away from the moped, hope he got his dog back

Oddservation

I had a good day in my studio. I made 2 flowerpots with saucers, 2 yarn bowls, and a monster, plus I trimmed the 3 pots I threw last time I played in clay. I also made a couple of clay weights for my sweetie’s aquarium to hold some tubing submerged.

Shortly, I will change and we’re going to get dinner, then to the show. It’s like a date night!

See youse guys tomorrow!
