I saw them a few times during their original run, so I’m not too bummed about missing these shows. But if you’re in Denver, Toronto or Chicago, The Replacements are playing a festival in your city.
Don’t know who’ll be taking lead guitar or drum duties yet.
I just found out about this today. I got to see their “final” concert in Grant Park in Chicago. I nearly had to stop reading the line-up for this festival, I was so overcome. Unreal. Not that I could afford it anyway, but it looks as if most of the tickets are sold out, except for the most expensive ones.
I saw them twice between '87 and '89. I don’t really go to concerts much anymore, but it would be fun to hear those old songs live again. However, I’m nowhere near those locations and don’t like paying what concert tickets cost these days. IOW, I’m old.
We went to the Riot Fest in Chicago last year and had a great time. It was a really well run festival with a fantastic lineup (Jesus & Mary Chain, Elvis Costello, Iggy & the Stooges, etc) but this year’s lineup didn’t grab us, though it still has some good names. However, this announcement about The Replacements being the 3rd headliner motivated us to snatch up a pair of passes. My wife is one of the biggest Replacements fans I’ve ever met and she’s losing her shit over this opportunity.
