Johnson County, Kansas, sheriff Calvin Hayden, who’s been trying to investigate (nonexistent) voter fraud, admits that the search warrants he supposedly had in hand were not signed by a judge and therefore were not valid.
The backstory is that the county was planning to shred old ballots as required by law, but the sheriff asked that the ballots not be destroyed because of his ongoing investigation, which supposedly included a search warrant.
At the April 13 forum, Hayden said, “As we stand here today we had a search warrant in hand and had talked with the district attorney and we were working on getting the documents needed when they decided in a hurry to destroy the records.”
The ballots were destroyed as required. Hayden has been campaigning for re-election using voter fraud as one of his talking points.
Johnson County is the most populous (and richest) county in the state.
Conservative humor, such as it is, seems to mostly consist of insulting people they don’t like. That’s not humor. You can insult somebody while making a joke, but the joke needs to land. If you don’t you just come off looking like an idiot.
Am I 100% sure that the people who passed this are Republicans? No. But it’s fairly evil in my book. Not “fishhook in the dog treats” evil, but evil.

Ten years ago, fifty years ago, this would have been a mindblowing observation. The Overton window has shifted so far, and in the wrong direction.
Bolivia, Uganda, etc. etc. have cruised right past the USA, leaving us where they were decades ago.
I know I’m stating the obvious, but it bears repeating once in a while. The new normal is not normal.
I expect that within my lifetime, the Republican Party will have transformed into full blown terrorists who kidnap, murder and shoot up shopping malls as political acts.
Isn’t that exactly what they were trying to do on January 6, 2021, shooting up congress, kidnap, and murder the targets fo their hatred?
I don’t think they’ll ever do that officially or publicly, but if stochastic terrorism counts (and I suspect it does for you), they’re already there, and have been since the 90’s.
