Looks like @Deeg is using the Matt Gaetz thread to prove the premise of this one, at least as far as their supporters and apologists are concerned.
So he is referring to his whiteness. Good to know.
It’s only a “coup” if it comes from the Coup region of France. Otherwise, it’s just “sparkling insurrection”.
you know my great gramps once said the last true republican was teddy roosevelt and the last true democrat was woodrow wilson ,
Damn Gyrate, beat me to it, and with a better line.
Evil, violent fucks.
I have dared to compare a democrat to a republican. There are a vocal number of Dopers who cannot abide by this, as if no democrat could ever be as bad as a republican.
My problem with this is that it allows us to minimize the errors on our own side. Cuomo has “just” slapped a few women on the ass but at least he’s not as bad as that republican! Focusing our rage on Gaetz is allowing Cuomo to slip by.
Another problem is that by pairing Cuomo with Gaetz this is somehow apologizing for Gaetz. Again it’s as if Dopers just can’t bare to have a democrat compared to a republican.
A lot of republicans right now are despicable; Gaetz is one of them. Some democrats are despicable; Cuomo is one of them. Both should be gone.
IMHO Cuomo has to go, but I will say that it is harder for Democrats to be as bad as a republican, for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious. Having no shame, several republicans in power do not feel a need to stop the behavior as they know that while there is a need to distance from them, there is almost no direct demand from other Republicans to resign or remove him/her from committees.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) said on Sunday’s Face The Nation the allegations against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) are “sickening,” but would not weigh in on whether he should step down.
So, IMO a democrat could be as bad a republican, but republicans nowadays have a better safety net for their evil members.
Could you cite one democrat on this board who said that? Or one doper?
WTF is this about? There’s a separate thread for Cuomo that you’re welcome to participate in. No one in that thread (from what I remember) said he shouldn’t resign.
And, if all of the allegations against Gaetz are true, it’s just a fact that he’s worse than Cuomo – he was also involved with workplace sexual harassment and contributing to a hostile work environment, PLUS he may have committed rape AND sex trafficking of a minor.
The “just” is my interpretation of this quote by JohnT:
“Let’s minimize child rape because a Democrat slapped a woman on the ass.”
I think the quote above comes uncomfortably close to excusing Cuomo because at least he isn’t Gaetz, or at least minimizing it.
Somewhere, someone–probably a Republican–is saying at least Gaetz didn’t rape a 5-year-old. Would that be worse than raping a 17-year-old? I might guess that plenty of people would say it is but in this context it’s not something I want to contemplate. The age of the victim is not germane to whether Gaetz should resign and be indicted. Bringing in “at least he didn’t…” is an attempt to minimize the original crime.
Why are you going after me? I’m not the one who brought the discussion here.
You should let Google do the translating from now on, 'kay?
Weren’t you the one who brought it to the Matt Gaetz thread? Anyway, you made multiple false claims in that post – somehow, we’re letting Cuomo slip by, even though there’s a thread talking about him, with just about everyone calling for his resignation. And, that we’re somehow minimizing errors on “our own side”.
I think you missed the sarcasm.
At least the Missouri GOP has found the line.
But Georgia GOP punishes those who act ethically. Evil.
Trump Loyalists in Georgia Censure Kemp, Raffensperger Despite Loeffler Defending Them (msn.com)
OAN punishes employees who act ethically.
Gee, what an inspiring example of conservatives’ devotion to freedom of speech and repudiation of “cancel culture”, huh?
Individual Republicans can be OK, but as a group, they are still evil, lying fucks.
Republicans, your leaders are evil. And you elected them.
On Aug. 4, 2019, the day after a gunman who had posted a hateful diatribe against Hispanics fatally shot 23 people at an El Paso Walmart, a leader of a tea party group in Texas said on Facebook: “You’re not going to demographically replace a once proud, strong people without getting blow-back.”
Forgetting, of course, that white man demographically replaced the brown man some years back. I think the problem Repubs have with minorities is that they are afraid that the minorities will do them what THEY did to the minorities.
