Oh, wait/ No he wasn’t. He’s a lying sack of shit.
“That’s an endearing term, by the way,” Holtorf continued before Benevidez hammered her gavel and called for order as some members began yelling at Holtorf. “Why are you yelling at me?” Holtorf asked before Benevidez called for a recess.
Then lies about lying.
Holtorf later returned to the podium and said, "I apologize if I’ve offended anybody in any way. It is not my intent, ladies and gentlemen.” On Thursday, he went back to the podium to offer “my sincerest apologies.” “I see all of you as my brother and sisters, all created by God and equal. I cherish working with you each and every day,” he said.
Translation: I am sorry if you silly ninnies got your panties in a twist. Fuck the lot you.
Joe Manchin is the best we can hope for from a place like West Virginia, and Cheney is probably the best we can hope for in Wyoming. IMHO Democrats should vote for Cheney in the Republican primary as the lesser evil. Her principles are wrong, but at least she has principles.
Desantis is dangerous. He walks and talks like a clown, but he’s a smart little fucker. He knows how to tap into Trumpist populism but he’s an Ivy League intellect, and he’s legitimately so, unlike Trump. He’s young and the governor of a very important state. He’ll be a thorn in our asses for a while.
No Representative from Wyoming will ever vote with the Democrats because Wyoming will never elect a Democrat or even a centrist Republican. This is 100% a GOP seat for the foreseeable future. But it is useful for the Democrats to have as many anti-Trump Republicans as possible in Congress so the GOP continues distracting itself and weakening its organizational power with highly public internecine battles.
The comments about Cheney caucusing with Dems are fantastic nonsense. But that doesn’t mean her presence wouldn’t serve a positive functional purpose in a political sense.
Without looking it up, my guess is that it’s probably more than 0% and less than 5%. That’s because their principles are different than the Democrat’s principles. To use a sports analogy, here’s how I see it. It’s as if the Blueville Donkeys (possibly) have a choice between playing either the Redtown Elephants, who are a bunch of assholes, vs. playing against the Orangetown Shitgibbons who are not only a bunch of assholes, but have also bribed the umpires and the scorekeepers.
Cercaise, for someone who seems so passionate about having Cheney run as a Dem, I’m surprised you haven’t weighed in to the P&E thread about just that kind of scenario. Roger_That could probably use your support.
Given how you are arguing here, I actually assumed (before I checked) that you must be OP of that thread.
Assuming you mean @Cervaise, whom you quoted, I’m completely lost. I 100% agree with the entirety of their post and yet have no expectations, nor desire really, of having Cheney run as a Dem. Are you reading between some mythical lines, or did I miss something in their post.
I think I got Cercaise mixed up with Typo-negative (too many smiling skull faces) and seeing the similar arguments being made in the P&E thread about Cheney’s value (or lack there of) to the Dems, cobbled them all together in my mind along with Roger_That. Please just ignore my post and go on your merry way.
I think Richard Holtorf is a “white trailer trash redneck hayseed clodhopper asshole”.
Please note that I meant that affectionately, it’s a commonly used term of endearment among my friends and family. I had no idea that anyone would be so overly sensitive as to actually think I meant to insult him with that language.
Regarding this, I don’t think she’s particularly valuable to the Dems, I think she’s valuable to the sanity of the country. In a sane world, Liz Cheney should represent the people near the outer edge of the Republican party. Planned Parenthood and the Human Rights Campaign both give her a 0%. The League of Conservation Voters gives her a 1% rating. Club for Growth, on the other hand, gives her a 65% and the US Chamber of Commerce gives her an 82%. She has no value to the Dems from a voting standpoint and I doubt that I’d agree with her on just about any bill.
She just happens to be right about the current state of her party and where it is headed.
