“Restaurant patrons”?
That is not how you spell “terrorists”.

I’m a liberal, and I believe that rent control almost always leads to shortages of rental property and deteriorating housing stock, and that nuclear power is much better for the environment than fossil fuel power plants. I used to think otherwise, but I was persuaded by logical arguments.
Believe it or not, this liberal thinks some greenhouse gas fuels will still be needed, as we’re seeing in Europe. I just hope that we can depend a lot less on these polluters. We need a portfolio, with natural gas and petrol being used as a backup when our windfarms and solar farms aren’t cranking out the energy we need. To that end, though, we need start consuming less. America in particular is arguably the most wasteful goddamn planet on the earth. In my apartment, for instance, I can’t even turn my cooling off and I’m freezing every night. I go to bed with a sweatshirt on and long johns because it’s too cold in my apartment, and I live in the mid-Atlantic where temps regularly get to 90+ in the daytime. It’s nuts. We’re wasting energy.
By something else, I agree that we shouldn’t make restaurant hostesses be in charge of enforcing a vaccine mandate.
I’m not sure either, as they are not identified by party in the report. However, I certainly suspect that they are, do you have conflicting information?
Well given that as you say there is no party affiliation given, we are in the realm of inferring party membership by probabalistic association with other attributes, and while most people who get violent about anti-vax mandates are Republican, most black people are not. Also note that the women who actually did the assault were vaccinated its just that some other members of their party weren’t (or at least couldn’t prove that they were).
I’m wondering if the real issue that made the women upset wasn’t so much the vaccine issue but perceived racism. Given the long history of blacks getting kicked out of establishments based on other pretexts when it was really their race that was the issue, its not too surprising that some might assume that that was the cause even when there was a legitimate reason for their being ejected. This view may be bolstered by unverified reports that the hostess may have used a racial slur during the attack.
But all of this is pure speculation based on very little verifiable data. And just to say that it isn’t as cut and dried as some other cases.

I don’t care if they’re Republicans or not, they are undeniably Texans.
A Michigan lawmaker told another lawmaker that he hoped her “car explodes on the way in,” according to text messages filed in court to support a request for a personal protection order.
“You’re truly the worst human being I’ve ever met. I mean that with the utmost sincerity. Just a parasite,” Rep. Steve Marino told Rep. Mari Manoogian.

His lawyer says they’re “taken out of context.” I’d be curious to learn how “I hope your car explodes” can be understood another way.
You’ve never heard of a “blown engine”?
First, you wrap your lips around the tailpipe…
It was a pun.
Palindrome.
It’s not enough for people like him to walk away. If their values include a sane, functioning democracy, they need to switch parties and be counted with the Democrats for purposes such as determining House and Senate leadership.
The only way to break the GOP’s culture of insanity is to help the party lose big, at every level. Walking away is chickenshit.
But then they’d get booted out at the next election and replaced with Trump bootlickers who have no qualms about dismantling democracy, assuming their districts are solidly red.
I’m not optimistic this can happen, given all the voter suppression laws bandied around, Republican-led legislatures refusing to seat Democratic electees, and there being an apparently much larger market in this country for insanity than we rational people care to admit.
I’m leaning more towards the view that this insanity won’t stop until the USA is burned down to the ground à la Germany in World War II.
But this is apparently what’s going to happen in the primaries, anyway. And if Gonzalez has what it takes to beat a Trump bootlicker in a primary, then who’s to say he couldn’t do so in the general? Meanwhile, he counts toward the blue majority.
We will have to see in the next general election. Trump and his ilk are really loud but may be few. Look at this Jan 6 rally, where cops outnumbered MAGAs.
I am under the impression that most Republicans in his district (and in general) would just vote “(R)” out of tribalism, not even paying attention to his name. So in the Republican primary he’d win because he’s the incumbent Republican, but this advantage disappears if he were to run as a Democrat in the general election.
God what a psychopath, that guy.
You’re probably right. But that doesn’t change the fact that …
