I’m pretty sure that if they were asked about it, it would be pointed out the Robert L. Dear et. al didn’t put salt in their porridge and so the statement stands.
Nevermind
Oh for fucks sake:
Great family values. Cheating on sick wife, accused of her murder when she tries to divorce him, still wins GOP Primary.
What kind of sick fuck LOST this primary???
I really do not think this belongs in The BBQ Pit anymore. The Republican Party is undeniably the Party of Evil. I do not think this should be a controversial point of view anymore.
No, we still need to be able to swear freely.
Damn right!
You can swear all you want in every forum.
The only difference is that here you can call other posters liars, ass clowns or, if they really piss you off, Republicans.
But it is generally discouraged in other forums. Just like it is discouraged at the grocery stare as opposed to the sports bar (another place where Evil is obvious - it wears a Astros uniform!)
Nobody, actually.
Looking into it further, it turns out that it was an election for a local township board. There were exactly three candidates, and the instructions were to “Vote for three.” There was literally no way for him to lose.
I mean, I don’t like it either, but all of the headlines are making it sound like the voters mulled it over carefully, and deliberately chose the murderer. That’s not really what happened.
Were the instructions “Vote for three or be arrested!”? I mean, anyone familiar with the story could have, say, voted for only two.
Haha. Like any of the voters knew who any of the 3 were.
Name - Yup
R next to name - Yup
Check
(To be fair, I’m no different. If there’s an R next to the name, don’t care who they are they aren’t getting my vote)
You’re absolutely right. Any voter who knew that Wilhoite was accused of murdering his wife and still voted for him is a jackass of the first order.
I just wonder how many people did know that. It’s a small local office, one of those where maybe you’ve seen the candidate’s name on a yard sign, and that’s about it. And there are exactly as many candidates as there are spots to fill, so you don’t even really have a choice to make. Fill in all three ovals and move on.
Indiana has plenty of lousy Republican politicians–Mike Braun, Victoria Spartz, or my very own Congressman, Greg Pence, to name three. I will gladly join the condemnation of anyone voting for them. I will also join in the condemnation of Wilhoite voters, if it turns out that they know who he is and still want him. Based on current evidence, though, I think it’s more likely that people voted for the guy on the ballot without knowing a thing about him.
Nobody lost. There were three seats open and he was one of three Republicans running so they all won. He would have won with just one vote (he got 60, btw).
Here’s a commentary/opinion video about your point, 5-1/2 minutes long. Host is encouraging Democrats to at least get on the ballot, in such a case.
That’s why the thread is not in Great Debates.
More of an MPSIMS statement.
A slight hijack: would it be in bad taste to use his conviction in a campaign ad if things were different?
Well, I can’t disagree with any of that. The sad fact is that in certain parts of Indiana, the Democratic party is all but nonexistent.
Idaho folks, west Indiana.
She’s not a Republican Politician, but she is pretty evil. And I wasn’t sure where else to post it. Her Dad’s campaign advisor is unhappy.
Apparently, she’s been accusing him of being a pedophile for a while now, and he got tired of it.
It was a pretty epic rant.
