This is more of a SCOTUS being evil, but it was a vote of 6-3, with the three being the liberal justices.
SCOTUS has ruled that federal courts are banned from hearing new evidence that was not previously presented in state court as a result of the defendant’s ineffective legal representation.
Clarence Thomas wrote in his opinion that the federal court should not be allowed to override the state’s “core power to enforce criminal law.”
Slimeball Ken Paxton, Texas AG and all around felonious grifter, still hasn’t gone to trial seven years after being charged with a felony. And, he keeps getting re-elected. Republicans sure do love their criminals. Party of law & order my ass!
What is publicly known about this Bush-du-jour? Does he have any established public history? Does he have a scintilla of integrity? He is the son of Jeb! Bush, who I vaguely remember as having a scintilla of integrity (for Bush Republican anyway). If he will become a future star in the Pub party, will he be a tolerably-borderline-honest Conservative Republican, or a clone of Uncle W/Cheney? /JAQ
No, he does not. George P. previously tried to portray himself as a compassionate conservative a la his uncle (his first major public appearance was at the 2004 RNC, where he gave a speech). After 2016, he went full on MAGAt, and is doing everything he possibly can to court Trump’s favor. He is the worst kind of political opportunist.
Does anyone in the mainstream media even know who George P. Bush is? I saw one article earlier today that said he is the grandson of two former presidents. (Figure out the family relationships there. This sounds like something that might have been true of ancient Egyptian Pharaohs.) I saw another article that said he is the nephew of W and the grand-nephew of HW. I don’t think that’s right.
You are correct, of course. George H. W. Bush had sons George W. Bush and Jeb Bush (plus other children, but never mind that for now), and George P. Bush is Jeb Bush’s son.
So George P. Bush is a grandson of one former president and a nephew of another.
Note that the dipshit Karen Democratic Senator from Arizona also copy and pasted. Not a shred of original content - thoughts and prayers - no empathy - no recognition of the magnitude of loss. “But what about my guns?”
The Onion has been in a decline for many years now, because we’re largely beyond satire at this point. I mean, how surprised would you be to find out that he’d actually said that?
