The Republican Party is the Party of Evil

Oh, my god.

I just saw my first Ron DeSantis for President television ad.

In Oregon.

He’s casting himself as the next St. Ronald Reagan.

Looking their press releases they seem pretty equal opportunity.

In one press release they oppose the failure of a student senate to recognize a “conservative club” but on the other hand they are pushing back against DeSantis’ Stop Woke act

GOP commission refuses to certify New Mexico primary vote “because Dominion!”

I think this just makes it even more clear that Dominion has suffered damages due to the lies spewing from the defendants in their upcoming court case, and that the financial penalties should reflect this.

Or Dominion could just add these two muppets to those they are suing.

I’d be disturbed that Otero County Commissioner Vickie Marquardt didn’t know before the election the manufacturer of the voting machines that were in use . . . but Vickie is a Republican so it all makes sense.

I just wish the lawyers for Dominion would use this as a way to speed up their suits against Ghouliani and Powell and Lindell. As it stands, they’re still in the discovery phase and likely may be for another 16 months or so. They really should try to speed their suits along to avoid this happening over and over and over and over.

This is the “evil” thread, not the “stupid” thread.

It’s a fine line.

Wonder what Trump thinks of that.

In this case, it’s the Southern Baptist/Evangelical wing of the GQP. Not sure where this goes best. “Evil” encompasses a lot of ground so I’m posting here.

Some of the commentators were UPSET. How dare this man call them on their shit.

He should really stick to making movies. (Yes, I realize it’s not the same guy.)

He hasn’t heard yet. Otherwise, we would know.

I’m not a Republican so I’ll be fair. Was there some place in her speech where Boebert said she was praying for Biden’s death? Because the bible text she quoted would more directly imply she was praying for him to lose the 2024 election.

In some cases. It would give them time to contemplate their life choices on the way down.

She said ‘May his days be few and another take his office.’

I guess you could interpret that as you state, but to me that implies that she hopes he will die soon so somebody else can become president.

She quoted Psalms 109, verse 8. Verse 9 (which, to be fair, she did not quote), says ‘May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.’ Rather straightforward.

Psalm 109:8 - “May his days be few, may another take his office”

It’s traditionally regarded as a Psalm of David. We can guess that the traditional origin of it would have been during one of David’s times out of power, either when he was pursued by a jealous Saul or usurped by Absalom.

In the context of a hereditary monarchy, the king’s term in office doesn’t end until death, so praying for an end of reign and death are synonmous. The next verse is “May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow” which makes prayer for death unambiguous.

So just enough plausible deniability to keep the dog whistle silent to folks who don’t get the context.

(ETA: Ninja’ed by Railer13)

If I was a religious person and I had been saying back in 2018, “I’m praying for the day Trump leaves office,” I would have meant it in the sense that I wanted Trump to be impeached or voted out of office, not to die.

On a more partisan note, if Biden were to die then Harris would become President. And I doubt that’s the outcome Boebert is praying for.

But that’s not what she said so not super relevant.

She also didn’t say she wanted Biden to die. She said she wants somebody else to take his office.

Bush took Clinton’s office. Obama took Bush’s office. Trump took Obama’s office. And Biden took Trump’s office. None of these men are dead. It’s been almost sixty years since somebody took the office because the person who was in it died.

The Republicans say plenty of evil things openly and explicitly. We don’t need to look for things we can interpret as evil.

In addition to saying she wants someone to take his office, she said, “May his days be few.” It’s weird to ignore half of what she said.

Not to mention the next line from the Bible quoted earlier by @Railer13 , “May his children be fatherless and his wife a widow.”

She wasn’t talking about elections.
