I’ve continued a conversation someone just started, in this thread: NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2) - #6515 by JKellyMap
The Outrage Fatigue.
At this point, forging your entire resume in order to get elected really just doesn’t seem that bad, compared to some of the shit we’ve seen.
Plus, you and I and everyone already knows that it just doesn’t matter, the Republicans will never repudiate this guy, so long as they think he will be useful.
Heck, he likely has a long and successful career ahead of him in the Republican party. He represents the lying that they appreciate.
Within minutes of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsing and nearly dying on Monday Night Football, rightwing assholes were on Twitter blaming the Covid vaccine.
What is wrong with them?
They’re Republicans.
Can’t blame that on a vaccine!
You’re not trying hard enough.
Texted Maganut. Told him crazy people believe a vaccine caused Damar’s health problem. I got back lots of texts-other countries vax and death rstes, mrna, yada. Finally blocked him.
He says hes not a conspiracy Theorist, hes a conspiracy Analyst! Ohhh.
Ya gotta love Lennie Dykstra — Mr. “Steroids Good, Vaccines Bad”.
This is a guy that a judge ruled was essentially impossible to defame. Wikipedia:
Dykstra attempted to sue Darling for defamation in April 2020 but the case was dismissed on June 1, 2020, with the judge citing Dykstra’s documented reputation as being “among other things, racist, misogynist and anti-gay, as well as a sexual predator, a drug-abuser, a thief and an embezzler” as the reason.
I saw a former colleague and their facebook cohort declare that it was karmic justice for Hamlin having supported vaccination.
Thats beyond offensive.
I liked this, pulled from Mr. Dykstra’s tweet:
A non-controversial statement, and has been for longer than COVID-19 has existed.
The Governor of Colorado will stop…
Wait a minute- the governor of where???
The (excuse me, Democratic governor) ???
Colorado, what the fuck?
That’s it Colorado, ALL of you, Democrats included, are now on the hook for people like Lauren Boebert. WTF, Colorado? I thought you guys were all “skiing” and “pot smoking” and “groovy”.
Stuns me too. I’ve lived in Colorado since '75. We are generally reasonable people. I say generally because a bunch of us are apparently morons **
** ref: Lauren Boebert
In the county where I work (Summit) the powers that be have set up a place where homeless are welcome to sleep in their cars. The set up porta potties and it’s just a stones throw from the State Police station. They should be safe.
We have a BIG population of seasonal workers, and housing is ridiculous here. It’s an ongoing problem that is getting addressed constantly. COVID sent us a real curve ball. A lot of our short term rental stuff now has the owner living there full time since many people can work from anywhere.
It’s relatively common for local authorities to bus migrants to other places. Usually, though (until the recent spate of Republican spite), it’s to places the people already have at least some connection to, there’s coordination with someone on the other end, and the people being bused know what’s going on. It’s still based on NIMBY, of course, and a desire to get rid of one’s problems by making them someone else’s problem, but it’s not nearly as evil as what DeSantos and Abbott are doing. What they’re doing, however, has significantly changed the optics, hence presumably why Colorado is stopping.
For what it’s worth, I was intoxicated when I wrote that. The general sentiment stands.
Which is in fact part of the FL and TX strategy of using the night flights and mystery bus rides to deal the “hypocrite card” in the game. One of their points is to overwhelm and discredit the system that others used, with the aim to deny any alternative other than “kick them back over the river”.
Thanks, Ron: nothing like getting the police to raid homes with guns drawn to weed out all those deplorably fraudulent black voters. Should’ve given those dangerous scoundrels the Chauvin treatment. Or something.
Weren’t there a spate of harebrained crackdowns in Florida a while back too?
So we are at the point where Republicans are just going to arrest Democrats it seems.
Guns drawn. Of course those folks had some elaborate scheme to cast fraudulent votes and steal an election from dear leader.
