I first said this on this site several years ago: if the Pubs can think of a way to outlaw the Democratic Party itself, they will.
Ok, most Republicans are not overly smart but they do have great cunning.
Most of them actually don’t want to outlaw the Dems. They want them around but with no power. If the Republican Jan 6 coup had been successful and Trump was “president” today they wouldn’t outlaw the Dems. They would rig things so Dems have about…oh…25%…maybe even up to a third of house and senate seats.
Why? So when things go wrong or in order to divert scrutiny, they can blame the Dems.
To add…if republicans had no scape goats to blame everything on they will eat their own. Republicans are the party of hate. They need a target for that hate. If they cannot point at a dem they will divide their own party and hate on each other.
IIRC back when the whole Cliven Bundy thing was happening many far-right groups went to the area to “defend” Bundy. When the government did nothing and they had sat there for weeks with no enemy they started fighting among themselves.
More recently we see Boebert and Taylor-Greene starting to fight.
Put another way, if the conservatives got their way and poofed ALL people-of-color and and LGBTQ and transgender and whatnot out of the country tomorrow they’d find some other group to hate in short order.
Keep that up and there would only be one person left and I bet they’d hate theirself.
They no coherent philosophy other than hate of others and that falls apart fast when pushed.
Probably divided based on religion. For example, evangelicals against less radical denominations.
I don’t know if this has already been mentioned, but I just read that the far righties in the house want the not-so-insane right to expunge Trump’s impeachment from the record. Revisionist history in the finest traditions of the Soviet Union.
Is that even possible?
I mean, I think they are literally asking for the impossible (or near enough).

Yeah, you have to wonder about the inner workings of a mind that apparently truly believes that the election was stolen by some shadowy cabal of the most powerful people in the United States, and thus in the world, and their “solution” to this problem is to shoot up a ten year old girl’s bedroom in Albuquerque. I mean, how did they imagine this would play out? “Oh my god, Mr. President, four guys in Albuquerque fired a few shots!” “Damn, I guess I have to retroactively concede the 2020 election and send myself to Guantanamo. It’s the only way!”
Maybe they imagined it would inspire others across the country to shoot up their own Democratic rivals’ homes. You gotta admit, if this started happening with regularity, shit would happen.

But it’s just so random, and unfocused. How is a series of shootings, some of which the victim didn’t even know about until after the police started asking questions, spread out over several days, with no publicity by the perpetrators, supposed to spark a revolution?
“Hey, I heard about a random shooting by some unknown people that no one really knows the motives for, I guess it’s time to overthrow the government!”
I mean, take a lesson from the IRA: when you bomb a pub to kill a bunch of English soldiers, put out a press release, for god’s sake.
