And it sounds like they’re also trying to win over the transgender vote.
There’s a picture of one of the t-shirts emblazoned with “It Takes a Real Man To… Woman Up”.

Uh oh. With this, I fear they can turn the tide. Clearly they are saying to women “We’ve heard your concerns! We understand the issues that are important to you, sweetie.”
Does any of that come with a condescending little pat on the head?
“And that they primarily involve issues of inadequate maintenance of hairstyles and makeup!”
On the head? No, not on the head.
All snark aside, what’s with the t-shirts saying “It Takes a Real Man To… Woman Up”? Is it in fact an attempt to market their wares to men who are into that kind of thing? If so, why did “Woman Up” think it would be appropriate at a Republican convention?
“Sir I believe that it’s necessary to start appealing to the female voters.”
“Women? But they’re so…feminine. Nah let’s just keep ignoring em.”
“But sir we need the female vote, the Democrats are killing us there!”
sigh “Fine.”
“Great where do we begin? Start talking women’s issues? Make some compromises on contraceptives or abortion?”
“What? Hell no! Just…give em some makeup or something. That oughta distract them long enough for them to ignore our misogyny and vote Republican.”
Where’s the sandwich-making-tips pavilion?
I am at a complete and total loss to come up with any explanation for what that is supposed to mean. I’m pretty confident wagering that they sell fewer than a dozen of the.shirts.
What would really be nice is if they had a station where on the way out they could pick up a drink to bring to their hubby. I know there’s nothing I like more than when my wife realizes that she ought to pretty herself up before meeting my needs.
They aren’t just doing this. Kay Baily Hutchison has an opinion piece on CNN dot com extolling the virtues of the GOP for women:
She’s basically saying, hey we’re not totally against you. Ignore those other things (it’s sexist not to!) and look at these things instead.
Yeah, I’m sure that will win people over.
Maybe that pavilion could help Arianna Huffington.
He sounds like a good Republican, trying to give the little lady some sound advice.
“comb-overed (sic) real estate mogul?”
I still prefer “short-fingered vulgarian”
I heard most of Trump’s wives left him for a man, too.
Interesting that she couldn’t find any Republicans to co-sponsor her pro-women bills.
They must really think women are stupid and gullible. I don’t think anybody is buying the whole “Mitt’s wearing shirts from Costco that his wife bought him! Gosh, he must be just a regular guy.” Transparent bullshit.
Well, you know what they say about a man with short fingers.
It really is patronizing isn’t it?
Her point appears to be “There are no women’s issues, there are people issues. And if you don’t buy that, me and a Democrat did two things that were women’s issues in the past.”
In the face of the Republicans positions on rape, abortion, contraception, equal pay… I just don’t think that line is gonna cut it.
I’m impressed. I fully expected the GOP to have just said they were going to stop stoning rape victims. Still have to undergo the 100 lashes though for being “unclean”
