Because of incidents at a half-dozen of America’s several thousand colleges and universities over the past two years that Fox News, Republican politicians, and other right-wing media have made such a big deal of that you’d think stuff like that was happening at every college in America?

If you’re interested in a little bit more despair, reading political cartoons on a site like TheWeek which aggregates them across the board is a good source. It seems like “The democrats have no platform other than hating Trump” is actually a fairly widespread meme among right-wingers. I realize our media landscape is divided, but it still sucks to see that such obvious bullshit seems to be working.

That’s nothing. In Dodge City, KS, they opened two new meat packing facilities which turned the city 60% Hispanic. Suddenly, the Republican county clerk decided that the polling would be moved from the city center to outside the town limits, a mere one mile from the nearest bus stop. As if that wasn’t bad enough, that voting location will be expected to serve 13,000 voters, a tad higher than the statewide average of 1,200 voters per polling location.

The Kansas elections directory praised the city clerk’s efforts.

Actually, this may not be all bad. Dodge City has had only one polling place since 2002. The former lone voting location was located close to the country club, in the ‘white’ part of town. And Hispanic turnout in the 2014 election was just 17%.

A lawsuit has been filed to try and force the opening of a second polling place for Dodge City.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas is seeking a court order to open an additional voting site in Dodge City after the election office sent new registrants a notice with the wrong location for its lone polling site.

The lawsuit filed Friday in federal court in Kansas seeks a temporary restraining order on behalf of the League of United Latin American Citizens and voter Alejandro Rangel-Lopez.

Ford County Clerk Deborah Cox did not return a call for comment.

Cox recently moved the polling site from the Civic Center to a facility located outside city limits because of construction.

The lawsuit asks the court to order Cox to also reopen the original polling site to avoid confusion since many registrants received notices directing them to vote there in November.

Sure seems like shenanigans from the County Clerk’s office to me.

Projection. Democrats rightly pointed out that the GOP had no platform other than “fuck Obama” so now the GOP figures (of course they do) that surely the other side is just like them only with opposite values.

Seems to me if DHS knows about these criminal elements in the latest group it would be fairly easy to weed them out and prevent entry or arrest them.

That it makes more sense to help the Mexican sort out these groups before they reach the border is, I fear, unlikely to occur to the present Administration.

The GOP is going after KS-2 Democratic candidate Paul Davis because many years ago he was in a strip club that got raided in a drug bust. (Davis himself was not involved, he was just a bystander.) This is the same tactic they used when he ran against Brownback for governor four years ago.

So, GOP sees no problem with electing a pussy-grabbing president, nearly electing a pedophile to the Senate in AL, and confirming a judicial nominee accused of multiple sexual assaults. (And who probably has an alcohol problem to boot.) But OMG don’t vote for the guy who got a lap dance in a strip club!
