The resolutionary-less MMP

I didn’t get poured upon, so that’s good. **FCD **came home early - he’s lunching. The jerky should be done in about an hour. With luck, the chicken will be cool in about an hour, too, so I can make it into salad.

Oh, the excitement!!

<hangs head in shame> Back during the one break a day in peak, one of my coworkers wondered how the boxes felt. Long story short we water-spidered him to a pallet ---- and then went on break. All of us got gigged a point for that one. And an official announcement that anyone considering riding the belts would be automatically terminated from employment.

And it’s related expression “Thank you, Movie”.

Bragging rights to whoever identifies the quote without Googleing.

I am convinced that there is some sort of genetic memory in dogs and other animals that says “When a persons arm suddenly becomes long and skinny at the end, it can hurt me”. I’ve known a lot of dogs like yours that will automatically stop a behavior, cower, or assume a defensive stance at the sight of a stick even though they were never touched. Its just something in the brain that cries danger.

**FCD **was just telling me that when he was using his cane, Higgs gave it wide berth. So you might be right, kopek!

The dishes are washed, the money is transferred, I have about 10 more minutes of irk and irk is highly irksome today.

I’ll finish off the spaghetti for lunch, maybe a piece of chicken to go with it.
Then get busy and get some things done today.
Sah-son isn’t going to like it but he’s going to have to help. He’s going to have to go out soon and shovel some snow too.

The snow has started on Lawn Guylindt

It’s rainy and icky here too, although not freezing. I’m hoping that it clears up some for the blues jam tonight. The jam is under cover, but the food trucks aren’t.

The jerky is done and it’s been pronounced good and “hot” - well, duh, with black pepper, cayenne, and pepper sauce!!

I made the chickie salad and I’ve even done the dishes - go me!!

Still raining a bit, but I don’t expect it to last much longer. At least it’s not snow…

Finally some good news.
I was going through all the doctor/hospital bills and I found out two of them are included in the total of a third bill, and another insurance payment came in, so I only owe $210 instead of $481.

Finished off the spaghetti.
Bills are paid except for the stuff that comes out automatically.
I need to call my aunt. She likes for me to call her once a week and I always forget until I sit down for the evening. By then it’s too late because she goes to bed at 6.
Better do it while I’m thinking about it

Well, if you’re looking for undignified, along with uncouth, & a couple of other ‘un’ words, who also cooks a lot, & who you already have something in common with, but no work ramifications, may I suggest you look no further than our very own Doggbutt.

I’ve said this before; OBL’s first owner was a male who beat him. I know this because he was always skittish around guys, & when we first got him, he would cower if I lifted my hand to say, scratch my nose; didn’t even need to be looking at him. I ‘beat’ this behavior out of him by hitting him, a lot. When I hit him, he ran away, not with tail between his legs, but up high, going back & forth, while his eyes were scanning the room looking for that toy because, “Oh boy, oh boy, Daddy’s playing with me!!!” Sometimes I’d pin him between the legs & play butt bongos, sometimes I’d swing, hard, near (but intentionally missing) his snout, sometimes I’d whap him in the side. Always the same reaction.
He sit right at the edge of the kitchen when I’d cook (didn’t like to come in because of the wood floor) & sometimes when I’d walk out I’d extend a hand to give him a skritch on the head - that’s when he’d cower; not when I was (playfully) hitting him, but when I was being nice?

Finally got a surgery date -
June 3. I asked for them not to rush it so they pushed it back a bit.

I have never hit my dog but he sure acts like it. He’ll duck and back up when I go to pet him, although once I start he comes closer. Close enough that I have to sit on the edge of the chair and stretch my arm out to reach him.
Whenever I give him a treat he sniffs it, gives me the eye, sniffs it some more and then will finally take it.

It still takes two to get his harness on him, he runs away and we have to corner him to get it on. Trimming his nails is a major undertaking. Never wants a lot of attention, pet him a little and when he is done he walks away. If you persist, he’s like a cat and will turn around and snap at you.

Yet in other ways he is so good, never got into the trash, never has accidents in the house unless he is really sick, housebroke easily, never chewed anything, doesn’t bark a lot. Can go out in the rain, mud or snow and come in with four pristine feet.

I have no idea why he’s the way he is, don’t try to hug him, crowd him or corner him. I think it’s the Shar Pei half, very independent and not too affectionate.

I conflated “jam” with “food trucks” and was picturing a tarp stretched out over rows of jelly jars while all this other food melted in the pouring rain! :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy from da cave! Let the weekend begin! Ok, in a little while I have to be at the church house to start cookin’ stuff for the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig feast tomorrow, and will also spend a big part of tomorrow doin’ the same thing, but still it beats irk.

The kid lucked out
The snow stopped and the sidewalks melted so no need to shovel.

Is that one of them high a cooes?

Be-yoo-tiful day today. I feel bad for my East coast friends. My dad sent a pic from his home in WV, and my sister-in-law posted one from her home in Virginia and I gotta say it looks pretty but had got to suck.
But it’s ok, they will have their revenge in the summer when I have 100% humidity and a heat index of 110 here in Memphis :frowning:

maybe with a little tweaking

The kid lucked out when
the snow stopped, the sidewalks melted
no need to shovel

There is a poet amongst us!

Young boy feels lucky
Snow stopped, sidewalks are clear
No shoveling now
