It looks like Paramount is rebooting Leslie Charteris’ The Saint, starring former Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page. From what I’ve seen of his work, he’s got the chops, but I hope they show Simon Templar’s early career, when he was more of a clever cavalier than a detective.
Regé-Jean Page to Star in Paramount’s Reboot of The Saint: Report | PEOPLE.com
Doggone it, I want Tom Hiddleston to play Simon Templar! It’s my dream casting!
He’s a little busy at the moment.
I hope it’s good. I’m a fan of The Saint.
Roger Moore made a pretty good Saint in the UK TV series. The Saint (TV Series 1962–1969) - IMDb
Incidentally I always thought that Roger was better as a gentleman adventurer than as James Bond.
No love for Ian Ogilvy?
George Sanders? Val Kilmer?
I hope they don’t give the film(s) – being optimistic – that big budget over-the-top treatment. I’d love a series of second-feature type, B pictures with great writing and stories and cracking action done by ordinary characters, and good actors who are not mega celebrities. Maybe one celebrity guest-star for each film for a little box-office appeal. Probably made by some independent film-maker, as a way of funding more adventurous pieces. These sorts of films can be made cheaply so they don’t have to make piles of money to justify their existence. They just have to be realistic and entertaining.
Are you suggesting Simon Templar rappelling down the facade of the Hotel Ukraine in Moscow is somehow not realistic?
