The Riches 30 April '07 (spoilers)

This was fun. I was wondering how far Dahlia would go with Rudy, would she’ve actually had sex with him to keep the con up? It was nice to see Sam actually get some screentime. For a second I actually thought the part with the pool guy was real.

I also thought the pool guy bit was real for a minute (until he got up, actually–in my defense, I was trying to study for my finals while watching).

It was awfully convenient of them to give Sam a gender-neutral name.

No resolution of the Travellers plotline from last week. I didn’t watch the bits of the next episode after, so I don’t know if they’re planning to get back to it next week.

Even more convenient that Dahlia (expecting Sam to be dressed as a boy) never used words like son, him, or hid when talking about him to Rudy :dubious: .

Was Dahlia expecting Sam to be a boy?

One of two things: Either she never knows what to expect with him, or they had decided in advance that he would be a girl.

Come to think of it, the only other time we have seen Sam in a con (the school reunion in the pilot), he played a girl. Maybe he figures that if he is acting, he might as well do it up good.

I don’t think so because she was say, “Oh, Sam it’s time to go” and when he came down stairs she was like, “OH!?! Sam…antha!”

Owes something to THe Sting, but a very good episode.

I liked the ep, too, but sigh - the continuity on this show is making me CRAZY. I know it’s hard to balance drama and comedy, but come ON - we last saw Dale with his hands around Ken’s neck, demanding to know where the Malloys were living; DiDi had just narrowly escaped an unwanted marriage; Ginny was stunned to have Ken stand up to her… and this week it’s faked carpet cleaners and sex addicts and a pile of trailer trash folks posing as millionaires… none of whom could carry it off for two seconds prior to the mark’s arrival, but acted flawlessly through the sting itself.

Arg. I really want to like this show. And it IS fun to watch, no matter what is going on. But - this is really pushing my willingness to suspend disbelief (and, yanno, COMMON SENSE!)

I liked it, good episode. And I caught the resemblance to the Sting, too, so I knew the FBI agent’s “death” was a fake to throw Rudy off guard and write off his 500 grand against staying out of jail.

One question: Hugh didn’t pursue his search for his 40 grand. I know he came out of this with 500 thousand, but I can’t imagine his letting the 40K go. He suspected everyone and had no reason to think Wayne stole the money specifically.

Perhaps he is but no longer suspects Wayne. I suppose ten times as much could distract him, however.

I don’t recall when they showed us the trailer park before; I was so confused when they began talking about the trailer park people. Either I missed an episode, or I have the world’s shortest memory.

The first I remember seeing the trailer park was at the beginning of the episode. I’m a little confused why they’re parking it there when they probably don’t need to worry about One-Armed Lady having it towed again, though. Maybe they don’t want it near the house in case Ginny rats on them, it’ll make them harder to find. Or maybe it’s just a convenient way to put the characters in contact with a bunch of dishonest people. :dubious:
