Sorry about your friend Doggio And I hope all you depressed people feel better.
Sunny, we have a 94 Suburban 3/4 ton. It’s big and white and we call it ‘Moby’.
It’s pretty good in the snow but it gets about 8mi/gal. You might want to keep that in mind.
Btw, where in Orygun are you? Generally. We’re SW of Portland a wee bit.
No, I’m not gonna stalk you.
I have lots of road trip stories, some of which are possibly interesting, like the time the clutch in my '64 VW bug went out on the San Francisco Bay bridge during rush hour and I had to double-clutch all the way to Eureka. Or the time I was racing a Lincoln in my MGB in the middle of the night, also in No. Cal., and slide around a curve sideways at about 90 mph and ran into a mud slide. With a tree in it! I had a ~6" tree branch sticking out of the side of my car for several days after that one.
I don’t know if I could ever live alone again. Hell, my anxiety level goes up whenever the dogs are at the groomers. :o
Wifey will be home in about half an hour. I’ve got some cod for dinner and just need to decide on a side dish or two.
Also the Schnauzer is trying to tell me he’s about to die of starvation. :dubious:
More or less. They added a large metal ice chest between me and my sister to keep the bloodshed to a minimum.
Stalk away. I’m in Albany.
We ended up putting off the car thing until tomorrow. We’re looking at a 1/2 ton Suburban. I think it will tow what we need, but get slightly better mileage and be more comfortable when we’re not towing.
We had a productive day at Grandma’s house - gingerbread cookies have been rolled, baked and frosted, kids went swimming with Grandad, we ate pizza for lunch (topped with chorizo, capsicum and extra mozzarella), then read some Xmas stories and came home.
Living alone is definitely better when your husband is a jerk. Jus’ sayin’ …
None really. Grey is seen as a sad color, but you don’t say that you’re grey. At most, you can say you’re having a grey day: it may be shiny or not, but you’re feeling overcast and bleah.
Either Azul or its Andalusian variant, Asú. Asú is more yellable: Ahsooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Just looked up at n00b coworker’s white board. He has a long list of drawings/designs along the left side. Many are checked off. One has a star beside it. One says “Just kill me” - how adorable is that?!?!
Being a bit grumpy today; the last few presents I ordered were supposed to be delivered by today, and thus far at least (early afternoon here) here is one of the places they ain’t. Seeing as one part of the parcel is a book for my Dad, and the parents are both off to New Zealand for three months, flying out on the 28th (they’re going to Shanghai for a week on the way over, so no, they shouldn’t bump into Boofae on the way) if it’s here late, he ain’t getting it 'til March, and I know he was planning on taking it. Especially irritating 'cos I ordered a book for me at the same time, which I don’t need 'til spring, but that got delivered separately already. I really hope it’ll arrive tomorrow.
I’m trying to get things ready for the road trip up to see the aforementioned parents for Christmas; I know this is a small country, but it’ll still take me at least 5-6 hours to get there, and my record is over 8 when traffic was unusually diabolical. Used to feel terribly unfair that I had a co-irker from Prague, one from Kraków and one from Barcelona, and it was faster (and generally cheaper) for them to visit their parents than for English resident me to visit my English resident parents.
At least I’ve got the first actual nice bit of the holidays tonight, after having just the mither til now; I’m off to a solstice/general seasonal party at some friends’ place later, and there should be quite a few other guests I haven’t seen in a while (I did consider going to Stonehenge for a proper hippy solstice celebration, but it’s a way away, and I couldn’t be bothered).
I am still coughing like a 60-a-day smoker and I’m running out of medication. I hope these stoopit germs have got bored by now, because I am so ready to get rid of them.
Busy doing very little today, it’s my last day in the office and there are hardly any academics around so there’s almost nothing going on. It’s nice after the stress of the last few months and I think we’re all ready for a break. Two hours and ten minutes, then I am out of here until 5th January. Hurrah!
I think I might actually be able to go back and read things and make responses today. We’ve had one disaster after another here at work (we’re a disaster restoration company, though, so that’s actually good news), which means I’ve been on phones and collecting contracts and scheduling crews until I drop the last few days. Sudden cold snap combined with snow and rain and ice means a lot of burst pipes and furnace puffbacks. Our guys are getting a lot of good overtime right before the holiday, though, which is nice.
Co-Worker is a mess today because she had to put her dog down last night. Poor girl was about 15 years old and had been steadily declining with pinched nerves and possible strokes for at least the last few weeks, but we were all hoping she’d hold out until after Christmas. I don’t think I’d even have come to work today, if it were my dog, but I’m at least a teensy bit glad that I won’t have to close tonight, because the local Yule celebration and bazaar starts right when I’d get out of work.
Looking forward to a three-day weekend. Probably going to the movies at least twice and taking a lot of naps.
Well, paid my last bills of 2016; now I can get the information entered on my annual spreadsheet and see how my costs compare with prior years.
Had no L or T, so settled for bacon sammichs this morning…and I’m alright with that. Need to do a bit of housecleaning today before I set off for brother’s place tomorrow.
Nut, I know what you mean, I ordered some stuff for my youth soccer team, turned out some of it was coming from China and got hijacked (they did give me credit), hope the books are there in time.
Drae, hugs for your co-worker, losing a companion of 15 years is tough on anyone.
boofairy, hope the cough goes away soon…not fun, I know.
FCM, sounds like noob is fitting in well.
And to all others, hugs, noises of sympathy, and a few deep laughs for the season. May you Felice your Navidad.
Howdy Y’all from the liberry in Ye Olde Home Towne! ‘Tis a very N.O.S. 47 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 62 and N.O.S. for the day. Nice! I came to the liberry yestiddy to post but due to some kind of power outage thingy there was no internet. I thought about comin’ back later yestiddy but didn’t.
I have read all but retained little so yays, boos, hugs, wedgies, smooches, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’ all around as needed.
We took mom to the ER Moanday afternoon because she was complainin’ about her right wrist which was swollen. No breakage fortunately just swelled and bruised a bit from the fall she took Sunday. Thus she has a wrist brace and some pain meds to take as needed. I saw my youngest niece’s new apartment yestiddy. Nice place and even has a doggie park so Wasabi and Ducky can go wild. She and fiance say they are drivin’ to South Dakota to see his 'rents next week. Needless to say sis is not too thrilled about this and neither am I, but they are adults and can do it if’n they want.
That’s pretty much the news right now. Ima go catch up on some other intartoobz stuff and then go to the Pubic Sto’ to get some stuff we’ll need to make Christmas dindin. There’s an Aldi’s here and I’m considerin’ at least stoppin’ in there to look around mainly cause I’ve never been to an Aldi’s so I’m nosy.
Sis has a doctor’s appointment in Columbus tomorrow so I may or may not be able to get back to the liberry as I will have mom duty whilst she’s gone. The liberry will be closed Firday through Moanday.
It’s N.O.S. and 42 degrees outside.
We got one outdoor chore down, the wild flower patch has been whacked.
Sah-son is not happy because he found a bit of mostly eaten mouse on the floor.
I’m a bit perplexed as I wanted to order something from the jungle and it said my 2 day delivery would be on December 27th. That is 6 days, not 2 days. So I went with 5 day delivery (which gives me a dollar towards a book or movie) which is December 28th.
I supposed that makes sense somewhere somehow but I have better things to do with my time than try to figure it out.
I still don’t know what I am doing for Christmas. I’d be just as happy to stay home.
Today will be taco day. I’ll make something else for me.
I think the “2-day” options business days only. Order today, it’s delivered on the second business day. Which should be Friday. :smack: Yeah, I got nothing. It could just be that vendor, if it wasn’t the jungle itself selling it.
Turns out my new migraine medication makes me feel like I’ve had 12 cups of coffee. Irritable and stressed are weak words to describe how I feel. I’m going to call the doctor and lower then dose again. Considering she wants me to get up to 4 times where I am, I can’t see how this is going to work…
{{{Sunny}}}
So happy I have never had to deal with migraines. I seldom get any kind of headache.
This is stuff coming from the jungle itself.
Just weird, I know it’s that time of year, but maybe then they should just not offer 2 day shipping.
So my mother called and I am expected on Christmas Day but since there are going to be a lot of people (chaos) there she’d rather we didn’t bring the dog. Sah-son will be happy to stay home with the dog, I wish I could too. However, my Uncle Jack will be there and my ex-bil will be there; I always enjoy seeing them.
When the dishwasher stops doing it’s thing I’ll start dinner.
