The Road Trip MMP

Damn.

{{{emily}}} I hope that your dad is feeling better pronto (and you as well)!

The hibachi grill was a bust. Almost everything that they grilled was covered in sauce that was better suited to pancakes. The tableside chef did the fake out squirt bottle to me not one but three times. You’d think that after getting the stink eye the first time and a frown, headshake and the stinkeye the second that he’d be able to judge the receptiveness of his audience a bit better. Had I been driving, I would have bailed the second time it happened.

SIL and I drove around looking at the lights after though. I did enjoy spending time with her.

Screwed up my meds this morning and I’m paying for it now, waiting for the evening dose to kick in. I’m in f*cking agony on Christmas Eve, and I’ve still got stockings to stuff and cinnamon rolls to make. Cancer sucks donkey arse.

And just for good measure {{{Mumpers}}}

It’s a rainy morning and I was awakened by a bit of a coughing fit. Ziva is out of the bedroom - hiding in the dining room, but out nonetheless. Cozmo spend the night sleeping in the living room without barking or whining, so that was good. **FCD **was ready to spend the night with him in the guest room, but that wasn’t necessary, so small victory.

My exciting Christmas Eve will involve some laundry, some food prep, and maybe running the vacuum cleaner. The rain is forecast to last thru the morning - we shall see after that. I may nap since I didn’t get even 7 hours of sleep, but what I got was uninterrupted. And somewhere along the line, I need to talk to my daughter about tomorrow and who’s taking Cozmo to my bro’s.

Happy thoughts for a better day all around. Happy Saturday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work, I get to leave a little early today.

My sisters haven’t responded to my “I’m not coming to Christmas” text. I’m sure there’s been some snarking back and forth between them. Do not care.

Someone sent my work a **25# **box of Hershey’s miniatures. I’ve been swiping all the Krakels. I’ve been on a sugar high for the last three days. buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The dogs, Taz, and I snoozed a bit, and Ziva is still under the dining room chair in the corner. Wuss. I just threw a couple of blankets in the washer - the afghan on the recliner reeked of cat pee. Dunno when he did it, but when I pulled the edge up under my chin, the odor was unmistakable. So it’s being cleaned. It’s still raining steadily and the weather folks promise it’ll be gone shortly after noon - fingers crossed.

TWENTY FIVE POUNDS of chocolates??? Dang!! No wonder you’re buzzing!!

I’m sorry for those who are having trouble. I’ll pray for you and count on things getting better. Sometimes they don’t, I once went to a funeral on Christmas Eve. But, like Tiny Tim, I’d like to say “God bless us, every one.” And…

…in spite of everything…
**
MERRY CHRISTMAS DOPERS !!!**

Merry Christmas Eve!

I did not sleep well at all. I guess I will be napping today. Just two more days and Christmas will be over. I think I can.

I think we have decided on ham and Tatar salad and greens. The grocery store is one plan for today.

Midget and Dotty and all Mumpers Hugs.

Happy Saturday!

Happy Christmas Eve!

It’s a grey day outside, kind of matches my mood.
It’s supposed to get up to 50, so at least it’s not cold or snowing. Which I wouldn’t mind because it would keep me home, but it’s not fair of me to wish for a blizzard and ruin holiday plans for others.

I woke up too early and I hoped to go back to sleep. I finally gave up and so I am up.

I need to do some laundry today, and some cleaning - always cleaning to be done.

I have some things to pack up to take to the armpit, some shirts I ordered for Sah-son that didn’t fit but will probably fit Niece1’s husband. Two jars of peanut butter since I can’t eat it anymore. I’ll take a bunch of the nice heavy grocery bags I get from the store, my mother likes them for recycling. Since I may stop by a friend’s house while I’m down there I’m going to pack up the scented kitty litter I have and give it to her. I may take the canned cat food too.

Thanks, all.

This day last year, my step tracker said I got to my 4 millionth step of the year. Because of the injury, I’m way behind that pace this year, but as of late last night, I’m assured of at least averaging 10,000 steps/day as I got 3.66 millionth one last night.

We have no reindeer, but we do have rain, dear, at least thru early afternoon.

Big plans for the day include going to the jewelry store district to get a bunch of watch batteries replaced as most of my watches are dead right now. I was walking around the Maul last night (lighted & warm - how do you think I got all of those steps in). Didn’t spend a single cent; in fact I only walked into two places - the Microsquash store, where I got to play the VR game that they had; scored higher than the three people before me, so no embarrassment there.

The other was the watch repair store to ask how much they wanted for battery replacement. First she tried to sell me the lifetime battery service option for $36.95. I’mma thinkin’ that this a) requires them to remain in business & b) requires me to not only remember that I bought it there, but know where the receipt is. :smack: Yeah - no! Their ‘cheap’ option is $19.95. The place I’m taking them to today wants $6.

Also, hope to be able to change the earl & get the tahrs ro-tated. Want to try to do the normal grocery shopping as the stores are (I believe) closed tomorrow.
Damnit! I thought I had the naughty elves* chilling for tonight/tomorrorsssh, but I need to call the po-po because I don’t have the Criminally Bad one.

*Doggio, iffn I can find one, you’ll PM me your address & I’ll send you a Lump Of Coal!

{{{dotty}}} Don’t overdo it. You know that some of this stuff can have a vacation until next year. I’m sure that your girls would rather have a mom who feels well than cinnamon rolls.

big kitty, my favorite from that mix was always special dark chocolate.

The only things that I have to do today are a couple of household chores that I didn’t do Thursday when I took a grocery run, filling up the gas tank on the car at the station at the end of the street, then crossing the side street there to hit the dollar store for an eyebrow pencil sharpener (who knew that using a sharpener for art pencils would just make a mess of the sharpener without sharpening the brow pencil? :stuck_out_tongue: ). Other than that, I’m playing in the studio all day.

Happy Christmas eve!

Heading out to the family house in a bit, to see if there’s anything I can do, and maybe get an update on my father’s condition.

Fourth load in the washer - go me! Two more to go. It’s still raining and Ziva is still hunkered down under the dining room chair. **FCD **is designing a cat tree for daughter - he needs to make it modular so they can get it home in their car.

It’s a dreary day, but at least it’s warm in the house.

I’m only on number 2 but I restocked the closets and made a large pot of tea. :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{Midget}}} Hang in there. I wish I could be closer and be of more practical help.

{{{Dotty}}} I hope you feel better! Can you take a painkiller now without waiting for later?

We made it to Redding (Northern California). Whiteout conditions a few times. The first time, right before bailing, I wound up at the end of a line of trucks and cars that were trundling along at 25. So I trundled. The second time I ended up behind snowplows that were blocking the entire freeway. They also moved at 25-30 mph, but I figured they knew where the road was, so I kept after them. After that I was out of the really bad conditions and kept going for a few more hours.

I almost have the kids awake and then we’ll keep heading south.

Like some others here, I have laundry and tidying up to do today. Also a quick trip to the store for some last minute munchies. Not sure if I’ll get it all done in time. Santa may have to do without home-made cookies.

Last load is in the dryer. Daughter came over because her BF was visiting some friends. They’re all at Lowe’s buying the stuff they’ll need to build her new cat tree. That’s the project for Moanday and Tuesday.

Rain has stopped, but it’s dreary out. I’ve spent my day in sweatpants and slippers and a ratty t-shirt - COMFY!!

{{{{{Everybody}}}}}

We’re going to the GirlChild and family’s house for dinner and general hilarity in a little bit. They just live about 10 blocks away, so no worries. Also, #3Granddaughter is home from college, so we’ll get to visit with her some more too.

Here’s a question for the Christmas observers: How many of you, if any, open some presents on Christmas eve?
When I was a kid, we opened presents from each other on Christmas eve and Santa presents on Christmas day. My wife thinks that is all kinds of wrong.
Anyway, I’m curious.

However you do it, have a Happy Holiday!
