Howdy Y’all! Been a big day of nuttin’ much. There was one bit of excitatement I forgot to mention this mornin’. The screen door guys got here a little after nine and put up the brand new shiny door on the back porch! We marveled at its ability to open and close with ease. Easily entertained are we. We had BLTs a little while ago, cause bacon is proof God wants us to be happy.
Nona hope daughter does not have the plague or anything else too bad and recovers soonest. Also hope hubs comes home for the weekend. I say make the bigass subs anyway, cause bigass subs. Sorry you got sent to the corner of shame on the book of faces.
Nuts congrats on your intro to tequila. Here’s a song for ya.
cookie glad the heat woes got fixed.
MOOOOOOM goddaughter was on a Frozen kick for a little over a year. Everything had to be Frozen. She even went so far as to tell folks her name was Elsa. It was a trip.
Oopsie by now your gig is over. Hope it all went well, which I am a hunnert percent positive it did.
Nettie I must now re-read Alas, Babylon. I love that book and haven’t read it in a long time.
Well, the $250.00 ambulance bill was a mistake, since we have Firemed. I thought we did, but since Wifey had arranged it, I wasn’t sure if maybe it had run out or something. Anyway, I called over to the fire department/ ambulance place and Talked to a very nice lady who I knew from when I worked the Old Fashioned Festival. She dug around and found out that we were listed under Lifeflight instead of Firemed in the files and we were covered until April, when we will re-up. It’s good to know people.
I spent a large part of today cleaning grabbage out of the garage and tossing it into the kids trailer parked in the driveway. Then, while I was taking a potty break, the wimmenfolk snuck out with the trailer to the dump, leaving me alone with 2 dogs, and a half a box of doughnuts.
Afternoon all. Soccer has been completed, low attendance due to the Moanday holiday and people taking long weekend visits, but still had fun. Very pretty day, high in the mid 50’s, but due to go to 26F tonight.
When they got back, were both the dogs and donuts still there??
If you want a really depressing story, try Triumph by Philip Wylie. Well-written but depressing and the last line of the book will stay with you (at least it has for me).
Sunny, this is indoor soccer (Futsal) that we’ve been playing since December. We finish on March 5th, which is when the outdoor season is due to begin,
Oopsie, too late to cross my fingers, but I know you did real well and everyone enjoyed it. Hope the jewelry shopping is enjoyable.
Cookie, glad the repair was something minor, that other company is not likely to get a good review from you…
I’m reminded of a quote from the TV show Night Court, when Judge Stone tells a rival judge/prankster "You may be younger, you may be faster, you might even be smarter…but you will never…ever…be crazier than ME!
OK, need to nuke some sustenance and be about the evening. All y’all take care.
And it’s quiet here again. Daughter and her brood have gone home. I need to put away some toys in the basement since Roxy didn’t. That’ll wait till tomorrow. Supper was good, and there were no leftovers. Dishes are done. I’m about to plop down in the recliner.
Hey, question for fellow SS recipients - Have you been getting your check/deposit ahead of schedule? I’m supposed to get mine on the 4th Wednesday. That has translated to Tuesday evening, except last month, I got it early on the Monday before it was due. And this month, I got it on the Firday before. Is is because this is a holiday weekend? Or are they messing with me??
FCD’s is due on the second Weds - we’ll see what happens next month.
I seem to have overburdened my computer designing this backdrop. Apparently a thing 20 feet wide takes a lot of memory. But the stupid thing is done now. This backdrop is in for about 2 minutes at the start of the show, then is never seen again. But hey, I’m not spending money on this, I is getting paid for it.
I decided to work on my taxes, which involves sitting up. (Also swearing in two languages and wishing I knew 5 more languages, or at least the expletives therein.) I can type lying down, though it takes longer, but I can’t scan documents, and apparently that’s what I have to do with TurboTax this year. Maybe last year. I’ve blocked it out.
Also, I hadn’t washed the sheets since the night before surgery, so I’m washing them. I was holding off because I’m sure the tucking-under-the-mattress part is not going to feel good, but WTH, I can lie down on a freshly made bed afterward.
I had that exact experience on my 18th birthday. I haven’t had tequila since, but now that [mutter-mutter] decades have passed, I’ve been thinking about trying it, maybe in a margarita or something if I ever go out again. Glad you’re not feeling too poorly. Did the snow stick?
shoe, nikki is sooooo cute! She can have all the furniture! (Easy for me to say, which is why I said it.) Pet photos cheer me up no end, especially now that I’ve been spending more time horizontal than The Happy Hooker. Grandbabies are also good medicine. [looks pleadingly at FCM and Boo]
nona, I hope your husband got home safe and sound and that your daughter is OK.
oopsie, let us know how it went. I wasn’t on here at 1 PM eastern, so I’m sending retroactive vibes.
Taters, yay on Adam getting the cast off! I’m sure he’ll lose the limp pronto. And thanks for your kind words.
bumba, I can think of worse things than hanging with two dogs and some doughnuts. I hope all three of you enjoyed yourselves.
Big hugs to those of you paying through your chilly noses for furnaces.
Glad the furnace woes weren’t anything major cookie. I wouldn’t blame you for leaving a negative review or two though.
It was a slothful day at CasaRoja. I did get a few things done in the studio. The little reddish doggo is asleep in my lap now, so there won’t be much more get accomplished until he awakens. <3
This is my laying tool and I use it for hours a day. There are many other laying tools in the world, but this one is mine! The size works well with my old hands, I’ve never liked really pointy laying tools and love everything about this one except the part that it is round and rolls off my desk whenever I put it down. GG thinks it’s a great toy so if I don’t get up fast enough, he takes it under the bed to knock around and it’s a total pain to get it back out.
If you could make one with a squarish end so it won’t roll around when I put it down I would happily pay your price. (I paid 8 bucks for this one 3 years ago, with the way wood has gone up, I would expect that price to have at least doubled if I could find another one.) I don’t care what color it is, but it does have to be very smooth because I use it to rub thread.
You could possibly list these tools on Etsy as well, they are very common tools among the textile crowd.
Who’s chair?
Nods. Thought so.
I was playing with milk at that time, but was pretty confident you wouldn’t need it anyhow. I knew you were rocking it! I hope you have a wonderful time.
Geeze Louise, just what you needed. At least you can honestly say that the furnace was recently checked over in your listing.
Is it possible for you to check Nextdoor for a cleaning person to come in. Our housekeeper wouldn’t have an issue changing and washing our sheets, she gets paid by the hour so more work means more money. I know that she also has a couple of clients who will only call her when they have guests coming and she’s OK with that too.
Today Hubs changed out the filters for our r/o system. I could sure taste the difference so I made a crust-less ham, cheese and broccoli quiche for dinner. Positive reinforcement is a thing with him!
I’m thrilled with how my new piece is coming out. I’m doing a stitch now that I’ve never done before, first you do horizontal long stitches, then do vertical long stitches over them and then go back and use a different color thread to anchor everything down with cross stitches. This one is going to the framer for sure!
This is an 8X8 finished piece with 4 squares and 2 different patterns. There is still beading to do on the second one, I don’t like to do the beading until I’m done with everything else because I say a lot of bad words if i get threads snagged on beads because I put them on early just to see how they would look.
That’s a lot of work. And it’s GORGEOUS! I might get motivated to do a small project, if I keep seeing such beautiful pictures, so keep sharing. Please?
Working on rounding up all the tax papers for the accountants (Swiss taxes and U.S. taxes). Got a lot of it done yesterday, today is for finishing most of it. For some reason our IRA stuff was only available on Friday, so there wasn’t much sense in starting it earlier. And I have to get hubby’s work account set up, so we can download his salary statements.
Went to the grocery store without a mask yesterday, according to the current rules. I think I’ll go back to mask wearing for that, at least for now. Too many people. Hubby was a bit congested yesterday, so he picked up something, but it’s not enough to bother getting tested, since we have no information about having contact.
Bought the makings for a Monte Cristo sandwich, which I’ve never made before, and haven’t had in 2 decades, so we’ll see how lunch turns out. Or maybe that will be tomorrow’s lunch, and I’ll make meatloaf in a muffin pan.
Had made Swampy’s cheese things with Manchego, and now I want to try it with Gruyere. However, I think we’re doing popcorn tonight, as we signed up with Disney+ and have a lot of movie watching to catch up with.
Guess I better go sort some more papers, before they start multiplying.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 34 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 72 and N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is deheathenization. This is our first Sunday without EYP. The Bishop’s main assistant (she is called The Canon of The Ordinary in Whiskypalian speak) will be with us today and will meet with the Vestry, which does not include me. YAY! We shall go by the Piggly Wiggly, AKA The Hoggly Woggly, AKA The Pig after deheathenization to score some Diet Coke as Coke products are on sale. We prefer Diet Poopsie, but we are also cheap thrifty and will buy what’s on sale. Today is also another any need to feed will be via forage day. The usual sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness are also on tap for the day.
Die I have never used fancy cheese to make cheese thangs. I am impressed!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
First thing I thought was why not get a square piece of foam, poke a hole in it and slide it down over the handle. But never having seen or used this item, I wouldn’t know how you use it and if a hunk of foam would interfere.
Shortly, I will upload BBBoo’s pics. She sent them to me last night, but it was after I’d shut this machine down and shortly before I dragged myself to bed (2 grands here yesterday done wore me out!!)
My last boss is coming over today - he asked FCD to make him a couple of little aluminum parts for his jeep - that’s what he and my daughter were doing yesterday. I haven’t seen Doug since I retired 2 years ago. I’ve worried about him since he’s got some autoimmune issue, but he seems to have survived COVID so far. Nice guy, probably not 50 yet, so he should still have a lot of years ahead of him.
That’s all that’s on today’s agenda. Apart from chillage, I think.
And from the other day when someone decided he needed to sleep…
And from a bit before when Roxy wanted to help feed her brother:
That’s enough cute for now!
Afternoon, mumpers! I have read much and retained little Last night there was more discussion on holiday plans which might now have to change due to weather conditions. Part of the trip involved a route that we’ve now found out may not be open until summer and since I don’t want to be driving in snow, we are re-thinking the plans.
Last night there were cocktails and films, thus today has been a late start and promises very little apart from slothage. Yesterday I took advantage of the brief period when there were no cats on the bed, managed to get the bedding changed and in the wash so I have achieved something this weekend. I ought to run the vacuum round and mop the tiled floors, but I have not got much enthusiasm today so we may have to spend another week living in squalour. I did get lunches prepped for the next three days as I have to trek to campus again.
