I woke up determined. I have GOT to get out of here or I’ll go bloomin’ bonkers. So I have dosed up with naproxen, the Rx muscle relaxer, and the hated oxycodone, and as soon as they kick in, I’m outta here. It CANNOT be good for me to just lie around all day, getting fatter and mushier by the minute. It’s not like the current plan is helping any.
flyboy, take it from us, you ARE good people, and you don’t deserve the run of bad luck you’ve had. Any chance your employer will spring for a rental car so you don’t have to drive the jeep to work? I hope you and Mrs. LA can go for your usual Friday night date tomorrow so you can forget your troubles for an hour or two.
VanGo, I like the Etsy idea. Actually, I like any idea that gets your wonderful skill and artistry out there where people can admire and buy it. In difficult times like the present, art is what saves us…all of us. You are needed.
I believe Irish coffee was invented for this very reason.
Started dumping crap in the skip today. Felt very good to just toss shit out. There is more, but a large part of it is done. The radon guy came back for his gear and told us that we are within range, which is a big relief; it would have been $2000 to install a ventilation system.
Howdy Y’all! Been a true day of sloth and uselessness here at da cave. The high temp today was 82 Amurrkin, so we enjoyed some back porch time. The annual pine tree orgy has begun, so in a couple of weeks it will be way to polleny (is too a word, I just made it up!) to do that. We also decided to day drink and had a couple early afternoon beerverages whilst idlin’ on the porch. Sup got cooked and et and that was the big effort of the day.
MetalMouse your current weather will be here tomorrow. Looks like it will start overnight. Hope it is not too bad where you are.
Supposed to have a Blessed Day Off today, but was asked to cover for a sickie (not the ‘Rona, thank Og, just "ate sumpin’ what should not have been eaten") and then wound up staying an hour late because it was a crazy-pants day and stuff needed catchin’ up on.
It started snowing right before I left, and I really wanted to take a walk in the snowy dusk (my favorite time of day) but my feet are too tired & now it’s almost fully dark.
Maybe tomorrow.
I think we’re supposed to get more snow tomorrow, anyway, and considering I’m closing Saturday night, you can betcher sweet behind I’m not covering for anyone tomorrow.
A girl’s gotta do laundry sometime yanno?
Well, I made it six blocks. I’m telling myself that’s not bad for someone with a machete stuck in her back. The pain is, oof course, much worse now. Was it worth it? I dunno. I had to go, that’s all.
En route I stopped at the office, as maintenance guy apparently forgot to mention the crying dog downstairs. The manager–a new one–said she’d “reach out” to the owners. That poor pup. Imagine being so miserable yo spend hours on end crying every day.
Apparently Jawja has some lusty pine trees. I’m now imagining staid oaks and hickories turning away and shielding saplings from such debauchery.
My insurance company offered a rental car. I didn’t take it, since I expected the Prius to be done this week. I think work will understand if I telecommute more. We can take the Jeep out Friday, but she’s tired of the Mexican place. She wants to go out to breakfast down the beach Saturday. (She was disturbed by the apparent Trumpiness of the place in Blaine too.)
nellie, our blueberries are called that because of the blue uniform of the temp agency that they wear. The company employees wear either black smocks or yellow / black high viz polos for the folks in the warehouse or receiving dock.
We got about half of the backlog done today with three helpers. The weekend shift will use their 36 hours to finish the job. Bossman was impressed with the progress. However, had he covered Covid Mary for the two weeks she was off, we wouldn’t have had a big backlog.
It was 64F and windy going to irk this morning and 65F, windy and raining on the way home. Tomorrow should be in the thirties. Ma Nature, please take your meds.
Since I thought I wasn’t working today, I’d tossed my jeans in the hamper last night. Since it turns out I was working, I fished them out (and gave 'em a sniff test) so that I could, yanno, wear pants.
At work, I was delighted to discover my box cutter still clipped to my pocket, because those things are almost as valuable as Sharpies at this job and I’ve given up hunting them down & simply bring my own.
… at which point I realized I’d nearly run a box cutter through the wash. You know the stoopit blade would’ve come loose or something.
Good thing the other guy was sick & I got called in!
Laundry is tumbling, and a loaf of crusty bread just came outta the oven. Still in there is a Marie C. pot pie for my main course. The bread (with both butter AND seasoned compound butter) is simply to devour pre-dinner.
Evening all. It’s still 62F outside but it’s supposed to get down to 29F tonight and only to the mid-40’s tomorrow.
Just lots and lots of rain and cooler temperatures here, didn’t seem to have the windstorms that were promised…might have been somewhere else. Might be a bit cooler there for the weekend.
shoe, glad you caught the box cutter pre-laundry; I’ve occasionally forgot a pen or some change (laundered money), but nothing too destructive.
nellie, hope the hurtin’ ain’t to bad and the dog gets checked on.
OK, some internettin’ and some readin’. All y’all take care.
Been preoccupied with irk and the car, so dinner was grilled ham & Swiss on low-carb bread, and garlic-dill pickle spears. (I also had some spicy Baken-Ets.)
Ugh. It sucks to have make big changes like this. I think there’s all kinds of gluten-free recipes now, because of keto. Try looking for keto cookies or recipes with almond flour.
Nellie I lurves ya, but please don’t push it. Which is to say - get out of the house = yes! Walk as far as you possibly can = no!!! Try down to the bottom of your stairs and back up. Then down and 1 minute out and back, and gradually increase it. If you try an increase and it hurts A LOT, then step it back. Aim for gradual strengthening not flooring it and breaking yourself.
This ends my lecture for today. Unless you do it again.
They are wanton and shamless! Thick yellow pollen all over the place. The oaks swoon. The hickories gasp. The pee-kahn trees clutch their pearls in despair. The elms, however, leer, cause they have the morals of a pine tree.
Napped, Alex Catt hornked on the carpet again. Having a Vieux Carré. Dinner was Smoked Paprika chicken, cheesy potato rounds with Bo seasoning, and spicy broccoli.
You are
But if you decide to turn to evil, have you considered stealing a Prius converter?
Good lord. If you lived in the area, I’d pay you to move into my house and manage dinners. Hell, I’d put a second house on the property so you didn’t have to put up with us other than feeding us.
Man, I’m not even done with the 1st episode of “Ozark” and I’m already ready for bed. I must be gettin’ old!
Heck, the lava lamp hasn’t even warmed up yet.
Well, laundry is in the dryer, rats are fed & watered, and the kitties got some treatsies. I may be calling it a day soon.
JaneDoe, my sister and I are in Kansas and we had planned, in 2024, to head northeast somewhere for the eclipse. No plans yet exactly where. just so we could find a place with maximum viewing time, about four minutes. In 2017 we were in Grand Island Nebraska, and had the max, about 2-1/2 minutes. If you are looking for accomadations I’d be doing it NOW, as I wouldn’t be surprised if places along the path of totality are already filling up. If you are really intent on doing this let’s keep up to date.
