Would you like a plane ticket?

I am going to be there. Hopefully Mom will also be there. GG will stay home with boring ol’ homebody hubs. I’m looking at TX because it’s close enough to drive. I’ve picked the Dallas/Fort Worth area because it’s under full totality but I’m flexible if other places seem better.

I’m figuring that I’d better start booking rooms soon cause like you said, it’s going to fill up fast.

And your kitties agree and us Mumpers agree, so its all unanimous and stuff.

So what are you doing with it? Washing, mending, storing? The only thing I know about boats is that they are often described as a hole in the water you throw money into.

Thank you  I really enjoy watching the pattern come to life on fabric. The one I’m working now didn’t come with a color pic, so seeing the colors bloom on the fabric is even more fun.

Give your lil reddish dog some scritches for me just because he’s such a cutie.

Today I looked at GG and thought he’d been growing again. Yup, over 14 lbs and 18 inches at the shoulder.

You know those little screwdrivers mechanics carry in their pockets? I’ve washed several, all with very bad results. I can’t imagine the mayhem a loose razor blade in a dryer could cause.

Buy a cheapo refurb battery to trade the good one out and nobody will be the wiser. If they notice, they won’t care enough to do more than grumble and move on.

: stuffs Gordie into suitcase :

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It is rainy and windy and 66, which is about as warm as it’s gonna be today.

Inventory, to start. Then we’ll decide what we’ll replace. It’s all light brown, and we prefer gray. It’s Sunbrella, and last time I looked, it ran $25-28/yd so we’re looking a many hundreds of dollars to replace it all, and that’s assuming I can do the sewing. So that’s the other thing we’ll figure out - what can I do and what must we pay to have done. I’m pretty sure, we’ll pay for a new bimini. Beyond that, I just don’t know.

Similar here - the rain came thru overnight and it’s deceptively mild outside at the moment. But as the sun comes up, the temp goes down. ugh.

Plan for the day, apart from emptying the car: we’re going to start organizing FCD’s shop. I think first thing will be moving the storage shelves into what used to be the office. He needs space for the to-be-assembled plasma-cutting table. We also need to move a sheet of steel off the motorcycle stand so he can put his bike on it, repair the suspected wiring issue, then sell the bike for boat-accessory money. We just need to get SIL over here to help move the bike - the wiring issue means it can’t be started, so it’s going to take muscle to move it from the shed to the shop. But that’s not this weekend.

Meanwhile, I woke at 4, because. So shortly, I’ll assume the position and read till FCD drags himself out of bed. We’ll eventually work our way out to the shop and work till he can’t deal with it any longer. Then chillage shall ensue.

Happy Firday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and cloudy/rainy(ish) with a predicted high of 72 and rainy(ish) for the day. A good day to be inside and dry. I could go over to the church house this mornin’ and deal with candle stuff, but if’n it’s ick out I could do that tomorrow. [Scarlet O’Hara] After all, tomorrow is another day![/Scarlet O’Hara] Most likely we will work on our sloth and uselessness skills. Sup shall be steak, baked N.O.T., sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Afternoon, mumpers! We are somewhere in the middle of Storm Eunice, I think. Storm Dudley passed through on Wednesday and we had a lovely quiet day of sunshine yesterday before the dire predictions of near-hurricane force winds. So far it’s not been too bad, I went to the gym this morning and saw a few downed branches around the park again but nothing much else. Checked around the house and couldn’t see any roof tiles that weren’t where they should have been either.

Yesterday we had a couple of guys round to pressure-wash the drive which now looks like new! They also put some sealant on top to hopefully stop the weeds and moss coming back but as the weather’s been a bit poo, I’m not sure how successful that will be.

flyboy is it too late to change your mind on the rental car? Given the choice, I would have opted for telecommuting instead until your vehicle of choice is back on the road. Hopefully they will repair rather than scrap it, despite the costs, if the vehicle is roadworthy and structurally sound.

nellie you has an ouchie! Please take care of yourself, a little outside time is good for the soul but not at the cost of a day or more unable to move. A short walk, a rest and a short walk back, that may be what you have to content yourself with until you can see the doc and find out what’s really going on.

Sunny (think it was your comment!) we went to Mt St Helen’s on a previous trip to the Seattle area, but we haven’t really fleshed out the details of the easter trip yet. We have our starting and finishing points based on flights, and may have to schedule an appointment at one of the airports to do in-person interviews to renew our Global Entry thing. I’ve done the online bit, just need to know if we have to attend an interview somewhere for renewal. I am hoping not to, they’ve got all our details already and we’ve passed the UK background check so we know we’re squeaky clean!

Dicey thanks for the warning! 'im indoors likes to use co-pilot on his phone but I am a bit of a luddite and like to have some written directions or at least a list of which roads I’m looking for. We’ll be able to work that out when we have decided what we’re doing and where we’re going.

It’s Friday, irk is irksome as ever, and I have a pile of things in my inbox I don’t want to look at. I’ve already sent out the Desperately Urgent Hugely Important Email that students will either not read or totally misinterpret, so that’s out of the way. I now expect patronising instructions from the Head of Operations because she wants the email moved from my sent box to somewhere else, and I can no longer see the folder it has to go to. Ho hum.

Good morning and happy Friday to everyone.

I never got around to emailing, IMing, or texting the boss yesterday, so I am working. As it turns out, the MPA needs to take today as her in lieu of day off because Monday is a holiday AND I have a meeting with the State Director and one of the programs directors to start mapping out our return to work strategy. There are a variety of factors to consider, so it’s going to be a long meeting, which irritates me as it’s scheduled for the last hour of my workday and I know it’s going to run over. Monday was a fifteen-hour workday, including the travel time and I’m just completely knackered. I am asking for credit hours, but this only adds to the ridiculous amount of time off I already have and can’t seem to burn. I know, I know, such a first-world problem.

nellie, take it easy lady! I know it’s frustrating to sit around, but you don’t want to extend the sitting around time either.

I was going to tell you to get a Thomas Guide**, boofae**, but they don’t publish those things anymore, except for LA and San Diego areas. It’s too bad; they were good maps and were updated every year. When my husband was an OTR truck driver he always got one.

My work will be irksome too. There’s a bunch of stuff going on and I just can’t keep up. Also, my MPA will be out for the whole month of March for jury duty. She isn’t on a trial (yet), but I really need her; we have a move for one of our offices to plan for; she needs to deal with the fall out of the accident one of our staff got into, which became very complicated because the estimate to fix the other driver’s car is above the threshold for our office to pay and now needs to go to the OGC. Jesus wept. We have a shred/purge going on at our main office the first week of March; we’re supposed to travel to Wenatchee that same week or the week after to look at both the old and new space, count boxes for the shred/purge there, and start the property disposal process.

This is in addition to all the already planned and daily stuff going on. And, all of this presupposes Congress actually passes and budget or at least a CRA.

Ah, I’ll get through it, I’m just burned out on handling everything on my own. I was finally getting the MPA up to speed and having her potentially out for a month right now is just not good.

Good morning, Mumpers! It’s 17 F right now (“feels like 8 F” according to the app) and we’re supposed to get more snow.
Native Michiganders are all groaning. I just shrug: I got a knee-length parka, boots with crampons strapped on, and an ridiculous assortment of hats/scarves/mittens courtesy of my mother’s knitting.

I also got a To-Do List staring me in the face, since I couldn’t knock much off it yesterday besides laundry (which still needs to be retrieved and, possibly, put away) so let the procrastinating begin!

Morning all. Went to bed early (about 10pm) so up early (6:30am), we’ll see if nappage occurs or not. Nothing much on the agenda today, may go to the gym and do some exercising, we’ll see. Temperature is down to 31F and only getting to the 40’s today, but we’re due to get into the 70’s again next week (also supposed to get lots of rain right then…).

Taters, hang in there, you can handle it.

Boo fae, hope the roof (and the rest of the house) makes it through Eunice.

OK, need to search out some sustenance and be about the day. Worked a little bit on my Will last night (I have one, but it’s never gone through a lawyer yet, so I want to prepare to take it in and get it lawyerized sometime…)

Take care all.

FCD is now waffling or whether we’ll work in the shop or not. Whatevah! I’ve rolled the bags of canvas stuff down the stairs to the basement - we’ll spread them out down there to do an inventory and assess the condition of all the pieces.

Something is screwy with our boat insurance. They’re wanting a letter of compliance about the deficiencies listed in the survey. I thought FCD sent it off last month - in fact, I’m sure he did. So we need to do that again. I have had more problems with emails getting to the company - it took something like 3 tries just to get the application submitted. Heaven help us if we need to submit a claim…

As of now, I’m not sure what today holds. It’s gray and dreary and windy and the temp is dropping. We may yet go out to the shop. Or not. Who knows…?

That’s what I’m doing. But I do need to make an appearance next week.

Thank goodness you didn’t wash your box cutter shoe! The worst thing I’ve washed was lipstick (on a couple of occasions). It doesn’t do much damage in the wash, but, oh god!, the dryer.

Another who advises booking reservations for the eclipse now unknown. Friends were married during the 2017 one and booking accommodations for their guests was a nightmare.

It’s good to see you back OW! Come see us more often.

Moooooooom, FCD’s bike is likely a newer / different model, but I can put mine in neutral without starting it up to move it. Of course, it’s a manual.

Don’t overdo it nellie. Increase your activity gradually so’s you can be out and about for reals sooner.

I hurt last night, so I took a pain pill. I was zonked until almost 0700! I haven’t slept that late in a long time.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels ready for the dryer, a load of jeans on deck and housecleaning on slate after KP.

It was ~65F most of the day yesterday. This morning, I woke up to 29F! :frowning: Do.Not.Approve.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

He can move it - but considering his knees and back, he needs help, and more than I can give. SIL is young and strong (well, except for his knee) but with team effort we should be able to relocate it safely.

OK, no more goofing off. I need to accomplish something.

Happy Firday!

No park today. I was 54 degrees outside at 5am, it is now 34 degrees at 10am. Along with rainy and windy.

Shit ton of stuff to do today, and most of it irritating.
My son got a call two nights ago, his boss wanted to know if he’d like to have four more weeks of unemployment. Of course, he would. I took him yesterday to sign the papers, now today we got a message that there is something wrong with his unemployment. We don’t know if it is because of the extension or something else.
Of course, the website is acting the fool again, so who knows when it will be resolved.
I was supposed to have a check deposited on Wednesday, and it is still not there.
Small irritants, but irritants.
Still dealing with all the papers that keep coming here. We just got more tax stuff yesterday.

Sometime today, I am making a list of stuff for my son to do. He hasn’t done much of the first list I gave him. He has over four weeks to get the stuff done, and it really isn’t all that much.

We have a house full of food and I want some fried rice.
I’ll think about it. Usually if I order Chinese food I’ll spend over $30, but it will last for 2-3 days. My favorite kind of cooking is heating up leftovers.

I am so very happy it is Friday. Work has been aggravating to the point that I’m looking forward to my doctor’s appointment. On the bright side, I can get my car out of my driveway, so that’s nice.

sari, it’s usually precisely when I have a house full of food that I want something other than what I bought the food for. Speaking of, we’re hoping to get takeout today (again), this time something I can eat. My dearest wish at this point is that the doctor will tell me that the food intolerances are all in my head, I’m a yuppy dork and that I can have a cookie and a big ass mocha on the way home. Okay, it’s unlikely he’ll tell me that last bit, but a girl can dream.

I’m telling my team to log off early if they can. It’s been a crazy stressful month and, much as I’d like to buy everyone flowers, the time off is usually worth more than plants.

We did a little tidying in the shop and the pellet stove out there is fired up so it won’t freeze overnight. We went thru the canvas, with many examples of “What the heck is that???” and the discovery that I didn’t bring the bimini home - it must have been under the pile of cushions on the small bunk. Dammit. That was the one thing we really wanted. Dammit.

Most of what we found in the bags will be figured out (I hope) once we get the boat to our marina and can spend some time comparing sizes, shapes, and snaps.

Meanwhile, I think we’re done. For a while, anyway.

I just saw that we’re headed back to winter weather in the coming week. Gonna have to plug in a couple of timers and reconnect the space heater in the RV and the battery warmer.

There was a knock on the door as it was getting dark last night. A homeless guy asked very politely if he could take things out of our dumpster. I said “of course” and he went to work. A lot of stuff was gone this morning, including a broken wheel barrow. One man’s trash and all that.

Probably scrapping - which recycles various metals and other materials, keeping valuable resources out of landfills.

Plus, hopefully, that helped the guy. Good on him for being polite & asking nicely, and good on you for granting his request. Win-win-win all 'round.
