Ha! Thanks, samarm. Actually, I had not realized that this was a Pit thread. When I tried to post the first time, nothing happened that I could tell. So I wondered if shit was not accepted outside the pit. So I changed it to see if that was what was keeping the post from going through. That didn’t seem to work either – or so I thought.
Sorry for the double post, but after all, Bush does wear two boots.

kambuckta…
I am glad you have such wonderful opinions considering you are in Australia. Go bash your own leaders, you have lots to do there with our distracting yourself with OURS.

Glad to see you admit that Bush doesn’t make much of a world leader – except in the universe of Texas, of course.
I saw a documentary about his campaign the other week. Forget what it was called, but it was by this female journalist who was part of his press pack that traveled the country with him on a plane, on a train… don’t know if there were any automobiles, but there ought to have been.
Anyway, the journalist was an obvious Democrat, and she didn’t hide it one bit. During most of the documentary, GWB seemed to be a very friendly guy, with a surprisingly good sense of humour. He got more self-aware as the campaign proceeded, seriously cutting back on his previous approach, which was far more humane and personal. I guess that’s to be expected when the stakes are that high.
So, while I just about disagree with all of his politics, and while I think he lacks the intellectual weight of a true great leader, he doesn’t come across as a bad guy on a personal level at all.
He has, as of yet, shot neither the sheriff nor the deputy.
And I am told by John Ashcroft that they are fairly sure (who “they” is, evidently, remains classified. Code Plaid, or something. ) he was not the second gunner on the grassy knoll.
Oh, what really cracked me up in that documentary was that the journalist got all the plane passengers baseball shirts with a rather witty team name. Check out this story about the Major League A’s. Bush played along with the joke, wasn’t too embarassed about it.
Coldfire, oddly enough the reporter of which you speak, is Alexandra Pelosi. She happens to be the the daughter of Nancy Pelosi, the new House Minority Leader.
county, welcome to SDMB. You are so right about West Tennessee barbecue! It is different from the rest and is the best ever. Even in Middle Tennessee and East Tennessee folks admit that BBQ is all about Memphis.
I can’t find anything about GWB that I like. I mean, nothing. I can’t even watch the man on TV, he is that repugnant to me. However, I do have to admit that he is nice enough to live somewhere other than where I do. I do appreciate that.
Thanks! That helped me track down the website for the movie, the aptly titled http://www.journeyswithgeorge.com - a fun read as well as a good documentary.
Yeah, piss of kambuckta! Jesus, this fucking freedom of speach bullshit is just too much. Bring in Saddam, that’s what I say - he’ll restore some fucking order to things.
He seems like a nice guy on a strictly personal basis. Were he just the assistant regional manager of a chain of hardware stores, I’d probably be great friends with him.
He’s surrounded himself with intelligent advisors for the most part, although Ashcroft is simply a festering lump of evil.
