Once again, I think the whole hate-speech thing is counter-productive. By suppressing ideas – and even specific words – you don’t like, you effectively validate them, at least in the minds of those who hold them. Get 'em out in the open and rip 'em apart, I say. Sunshine is the best disinfectant.

I have never whined about personal criticisms of me (despite Ilsa’s best attempts) I have made stupid posts, I have started stupid threads, I apologize alot. I admit all these things. Does that mean I am a troll? Most trolls do not apologize. Does that mean I am a poppet? Most puppets do not last this long. I wish you would take your accusations of trollery and puppetry to the admins. I welcome any criticisms of my posts though.

Grrr. Not to hijack this thread, but this is an argument I made against political correctness in a Pit thread a while back. I couldn’t understand why people stood by PCness and couldn’t understand the significance of “taking back” words, not to mention the whole refutation vs. suppression thing.
