The SDMB Dwarf Fortress Ongoing Game

2nd Hematite, 257

I have removed Lorbam from the military with an honorable discharge, since it looks unlikely that she will ever walk again, especially given that it took the surgeons a full week to get her to the hospital. Promoted in her place is Onol, the raw recruit who, as near as we can tell, struck the blow that wound up finishing Stibnir off. Not that it was really anything more than luck, but, it’ll be good for him.

In other news, I keep seeing dwarves leave parties because they are too hungry or thirsty to continue. I’ll have to see about setting up some classes in partying.

4th Malachite, 257

We have dug out scaffolding around several layers of the raw adamantine spire. The populace is divided. Some say to dig right in, that the legends of demons encased in in the rock are only myths. Others are more cautious. Luckily, one of our newest immigrants has made his life’s work of studying the adamantinelore, and he says he knows what parts of the spire are safe to mine, and which will release hellfire upon us all. I have my doubts, but victory goes to the bold. Without better armor, we rely upon the drowning trap to protect us from major seiges. And in any case, the adamantine calls to me, as it does any true ale-blooded dwarf. Tomorrow, we truly strike the earth!

28th Malachite, 257.

Joinglazed. Wonder of the Dwarven world. It was there we found the sacred adamantine, and in our greed, delved too deep, and awoke the nameless fear.

We’ll never know what happened. If our calculations were off, if they ever had any basis in fact, or if our miners simply mined too eagerly. All we know is that as Amsel swung his pick, it smote through the wall into a void beyond, and from that void issued a fell scream. A scream so horrible, it seems to slow down time itself. The demons are not a myth. They are real, and they are coming to rape Joinglazed, and after, the entire world… Adamantine walls are being built at various locations in the fortress, and for the sake of the world, I hope they hold. Our military, such as it is, will gladly spend our lives to buy even minutes of time for the walls to be built. However, the adamanite processing has been going slower than I would have hoped, and not even one breastplate is ready for wear. I fear they will slice through our armor like a goblin lash through a fluffy wambler. No matter. Armok’s will be done. For Joinglazed! For Sakzul! For Armok!

2nd Galena, 257

Despite Amsel’s amazing effort in sealing his breach, the demons found a way into the fort. Mosquito Fiends, Salt Ghasts, and Pterodactyl Demons roam the lower reaches of the fort, killing the miners, the military valiantly trying to slow them, and indeed, everyone and everything else. Among the dead are Duke Autolycus the Clueless and Commander Silophant. Above, the council huddles in the dining hall and selects a new overseer to spearhead the defense.

The file.

Autolycus gasps his last breath and proceeds to kick the bucket.
