I dunno mb, I think the situation’s been pretty clear all along, and I know that I specifically have been posting constantly that we shouldn’t make any hasty judgements about these teams just because they missed the draft. I also posted a day or two ago that I had proposed trades to FQ. I guess I feel kinda bad, especially since Hasselbeck is way better than Brees, but that’s FQ’s call for accepting the trade without exploring all his options, I guess…
If you guys think this is special circumstances and want to kill the Brees/Canidate trade, I’ll accept that. As long as I’m allowed to propose trades to compete with mb as well. But over the normal course of events, you can’t back out on a trade that’s already been agreed to just because a better offer comes up after the fact.
Not just Faulk, but Eddie George too – and I traded away Alexander, among the sturdiest backs you’ll find, and Green who obviously has no injury history. So I guess now I’ve got the All-Injury Team.
Sorry Steelerphan that you’re having such a problem with the commentary. I guess you’re not very familiar with Hamlet or any previous SDMB leagues. This is basically what you get, and for most of us the commentary/smack talk is a big part of the enjoyment.

I completely agree, and to the point that if everyone says “no go” on my trade offer that I understand. But, when I asked Munch what was up with trades to the quakers 24 hours ago saying I wanted to deal a QB. I honestly am not pulling this out of my ass after I saw your trade, I just thought his team was on hold until we heard from him, so I din’t propose.
So, we can leave this up to commish. I have already extended one other offer including Hasselbeck, so I will take which ever is accepted first. Or, if this one gets nipped and the other trade is not interested, that’s fine too. I just want to make it known that I had some plans for FQ in the works but because of the ambiguity I didn’t do anything before now.

I took your initial response as sarcasm, but now looking at WL and mouthbreather’s responses, perhaps I shouldn’t have. I assumed that you were joking along back with me, and if, in fact, I did insult you in any way, I apologize. From your posts here, over at JenniferGovernment, and at the yahoo league, it seemed you wouldn’t mind a bit of ribbing, and, in fact, would give as good as you got. If I was wrong, I’m sorry. Take nothing I say here or there too seriously.
I’ll go back to picking on Shibboleth, or maybe the Munch guy. Their teams are even worse than mine.
I understand what you’re saying and of course I believe that you had plans for trading with him. We’d all been talking about it.
But obviously I’m not going to sit still and just let my trade offer be overriden with whichever of your offers he picks. If my trade gets cancelled because you have a better one, I’m darn well getting a day or two to beat your offer too.
I just don’t necessarily think it’s right to penalize me for offering a trade to him when you hadn’t yet. The system lets trade offers pend for 10 days for a reason. This may be a gray area as you put it. And certainly since FQ had a computer draft he’s somewhat behind the curve as far as competition goes, and it’s only fair to let him find the best deal. Again, though, there was no reason not to make offers to him. That’s the only sticking point for me.
More headache than it’s worth. The trade is yours, as it seems FQ is going with yours anyway.
I’m in the same boat as mouthbreather. I had hoped to offer a trade for one of my surplus QBs but was waiting to find out if he was going to resurface or not. Then again there’s no reason that I coouldn’t have offered a trade myself. The best situation would have been for FQ to announce his presence and to have fielded multiple offers, but he didn’t. In part I’m inclined to agree with WL since FQ is able to manage his team as need be, but I’m also inclined to hear from FQ. Since some of us were under the impression that the team was a dead one, and FQ didn’t benefit from the complete list of options, it should be his perrogative to take a step back and change things. WL would of course get the chance to counter anything new, but it seems that FQ is getting hurt the most by mb and I with-holding our offers.
Yeah, I’m not touching this one. Sorry. The trade’s not terribly lopsided, and there obviously isn’t any collusion (something that would really suprise me in this league).
Steelerphan, don’t take anything personal from these threads. It’s all in good fun. If you do a quick search of all of Hamlet’s posts, you’ll see that blathering, drivel and other jester-like behaviour is par for the course. Just smile at the pretty colors and laugh at all the bells on his shoes. He sucks at fantasy football - we just keep him around for amusement.
I’m alive. For some reason I thought the draft was the Tuesday after all the pre-season games were done. I’ve looked through my draft and judged it to be…well, not what I would have picked. Oh well. It’s not terrible. Everyone knows I would have prefered the homer route that I pulled in the pre-drafts.
Hamlet: I’ll get you my pretty, and your little dog too! Okay, my team might seriously suck. But at least I have a pretty decent excuse. I’m just going to think of my team as the '78 Bucs, the team that might win some games and will embarass anyone that they beat. On any given Sunday, baby.
Steelerphan: I think that you’re new to this crowd, although I recall you’ve always had very strong opinions on games in general. Don’t get too upset about what anyone says here, as far as I’ve ever noticed it’s always been intended as good natured. Some of the smack is downright genius if you just let it flow over you; other stuff you can just ignore. And you can probably count on beating my team, although with Maddox AND Ward on my roster you might be upset if I don’t win a few. Good luck!
NurseCarmen: same sort of thing happened to me and caught me unawares on a road trip (to another country, no less). Had I know I could have at least spent a couple of hours predrafting. There would be some folks much less happy with their rosters if we’d been around, I can tell you. Misery loves company, baby.

You can pick people up at any time. The only restriction is those on the Waiver Wire, and those are processed by Waiver priority (reverse draft order - you can see yours on the Team & Coaches link). Players are placed on the WW when they are dropped from a team or added to the big list by Yahoo.
