As far as bra size, I’m pleased to say that, while I’ve lost inches around, I’ve lost nothing of my cup size, and a damned good thing, too, because at best, I was “average” at the beginning. Actually, as my belly gets smaller, my chest actually starts to appear larger.
I went from a 38C to a 36D. The trainer I work with at my gym said as long as I include some sort of chest routine in my exercise program, I should be okay. My boobs look bigger though, and they’re a lot firmer.
Exercise is my friend.
Y’all are probably gonna think I’m nuts, but my LOTR “One Ring” is falling off my index finger, and that’s the finger I got it for, but it’s kinda nice in a way too, because it lets me know that I’m losing.
I don’t wear a lot of jewelry, so forgive this ignornant question, but can rings be re-sized to be made smaller?
Thanks

Resizing rings smaller is easy! First you get some adhesive tape…
Sorry - I don’t know if you can shrink a ring. But you’ve gotten me thinking that I need to dig into my jewelry box and see what rings fit now. Not that I miss wearing any of them - I’m just looking for positive reinforcement.
Yay! I’m down to 130 1/2lbs! I have now lost 8 1/2 lbs since 10/13!
I’m having to bail on Phase 1 though. I’m not a big veggie eater, so I’m basically just eating meat. I can tell a difference in my energy level (a bad one), and since my two weeks was up in just a few days anyway, I decided to move on towards Phase 2.
How has it been working for you, Fairy?
Quasi, I’m pretty sure you can get rings sized smaller. A quick call to a local jewelery store could give you a definite answer and a price.
liirogue, I did a week on Phase one again and I ended it today. Once I got used to having pita and fruit, it was rough going back. I’m quite happy with Phase Two, so I’ll just hang there till I reach my goal.
Yeah, Quasi, you can have your rings sized. Just make sure you take them to a reputable jeweller.
My wedding ring no longer fits, and they can’t resize it because it has an intricate pattern on it. I think there are spacer things they can attach to the inside… well, I know there are–I used to date a jeweler–but the place I went had no idea what I was talking about. I think it’s because they were Korean though. I had to repeat myself about 10 times in different ways and I still don’t think they knew what I was saying
Boobs: In my early 20s I had 34A/B boobs and they were cute and perky. Then I got huge and attained C/D boobage.
Now I’ve got C/D boob-sacks underfilled to A/B levels, and they are no longer cute nor perky. But you know what? I’m going to save up and GET FAKE ONES! Yes, I know it sounds shallow and vain and stupid, but I have given it a lot of thought, even over the years (“if/when I lose this weight…”) and I really think it’s what I want to do.
You can store CD’s in your boob-sacks? Wanna get married?
Sorry, Opal, for going for the cheap laugh, but sometimes a guy is just a guy, sophomoric as hell!

Just as an experiment last night, I decided to have a few drinks (yeah, like you’ll believe that…). Rum and diet coke, actually, which is technically ok on a low-carb diet. I’ve been told if I drink to figure that I won’t lose any weight… but after weighing myself this morning I’m down another 2 pounds, after being in a holding pattern for the last week. Weird.
Okay, I’m not losing weight, so I’m taking the Atkins plunge. Oh, the meat I’ve eaten today (Quasi, no comment, please).
Shoshana: I hope you’ve either read the book, or at least been to the Atkins Center website, and you’re doing Atkins properly. You can damage your health if you’re not doing it right (because it’s not an all-meat-all-the-time kind of diet).
Okay, Shoshana. It’s out of my system anyway. (I think it was all that talk about a bustier (bousti-yay) Busties!- YAY!-or however you spell that!), that I’ve been reading in one of OpalCat’s posts, that mighta set me off. I’ll behave.

JavaMaven1, thanks. Yes, I’ve read the book (twice) and visited the website. I’ve been dieting and exercising for medical reasons since January but have been gaining weight back despite pretty good adherence to a low-refined carb, high complex-carb diet–possibly because I’m trying to go off the pill, which I use for regulation of unruly hormones. I will have follow-up bloodwork done for the latter in November. Today I’ve had meat, olive oil, non-balsamic vinegar, tea, stevia (1 packet), eggs, Gouda (2 oz), mushrooms (1/8 cup), cucumbers (2 cups), and an Atkins shake (1 carb), 45 oz water, plus my usual unsweetened fiber supplement and my fistful o’ vitamins and minerals (quite similar to what Atkins recommends in terms of chromium, etc.). For dinner I’ll make chicken sauteed in herbed butter with 7/8 cup of snow peas, and one more slice of cheese for a snack. And water, of course. We are about to walk to the store (2 miles, of which 1 is uphill) to get peppers and heavy cream.
I do notice that I’m shaky (though not hungry), which is interesting since I have eaten very little sugar and almost no white carbs (bread, potatoes, rice, flour, etc.) for 9 months.
Quasi, I admire your restraint.
Picked up two pounds somewhere, dammit! Y’all didn’t put one of them pentangles on the floor didja? Or maybe one of ya’s has an eff-u-gee of me that I don’t know about?
Or maybe :shuddder: this is a concerted effort of all of you thinking a hex on me at the same time, ‘cause I swear I could feel something suddenly pushing against my belly as I sat at my desk during the night catchin’ up on paperwork.
I haven’t checked lately, but I just might be the only guy left in the thread, and after what I said about OpalCat’s ta-ta’s…
Think I’ll go find that gypsy Thinner guy, and piss him off just a litttle, but then apologize right away, and maybe that’ll get me back on track.
Guess I can wait on the ring-resizing…
Happy upcoming Halloween, y’all!

Damn! Too many c’s, too many d’s and too many t’s. Must. Stop. Tremmmmblin’!
Q
Not the last guy in the thread.
I have been at my meeting for the past few days, and (obviously) took a bit of a sabbatical when it came to following the diet. My WW journal is blank for the past week. I’d decided to not worry about the diet during the meeting, but (sigh!) get back on the diet when it was over, starting on Monday (today).
So just to get myself up to date, I stepped my butt on the scale this morning to get an idea of what I’d done to myself, what with hotel restaurant food, hotel box lunches, hotel breakfasts and hotel snacks.
I weigh One Hundred and Sixty Pounds. Say it again. 160. 160. 160.
I didn’t even try. I’d had to stop running, except for once on Thursday morning when I got up at 4:30 to get something in. But I weigh 160 lbs today. My jeans seem looser than ever :D.
So I’m gonna stay on WW for about another 2/3 weeks, just to get an idea of what a maintenance diet feels like.
Man. I am so done.
You guys rock.
Woo hoo, Aguecheek!
169.5 I e-mailed those nice folks at atkinscenter.com, who told me to eat a tomato, a few nuts, or some cheese if I needed to kick up my blood sugar a little while I adjust to Induction. I’ll probably opt for a few almonds, which in any event seem to be helpful for stable blood sugar at night.
So far so good today–I’ll have a snack before the tense meeting at 10:00. Then a brisk walk to the natural foods store to buy more psillium husk!
Aguecheek! No, Dude, you rock! Man, that is so fantastic! Can I hang out with you?
Congratulations, man! Gonna show off that 6-pack at the beach next summer, right?
Quasi
AgueCheek, I second Quasi. You absolutely rock!!
