The Secret of Harry Potter Six and Seven Revealed?
A British tabloid claims to have uncovered the titles of the final two Harry Potter novels. The Sun newspaper claim the sixth and seventh installments of J.K. Rowling’s wizard adventures will be called Harry Potter And The Mudblood Revolt and Harry Potter And The Quest Of The Centaur - after discovering the titles had been registered as trademarks with the UK Patent Office. They were mysteriously registered in July by a company called Seabottom Productions, who themselves were formed just days before and who share a London address with the British lawyers of Harry Potter film studios Warner Brothers. Sources close to reclusive Rowling have refused to confirm the rumors - but fans of the global literary sensation are already beginning to speculate if the titles are true, or just an elaborate decoy.

Personally I’m not sure about “The Mudblood Revolt.” Mudblood is such a vulgar word in the Potter world, why would she title a book using it?
Just curious about everyone’s thoughts.

My thoughts: I’ll wait the fifteen years that J.K. Rowling will take to write the next book to find out what the title is. And the fifteen years after that to find out the title of the seventh book. And I’m with you. “The Mudblood Revolt?” Sounds like a Star Wars title. Maybe the “House-Elf revolt…” Dobby with a Lightsaber…going Yoda on Draco and Lucius…That might be something.

On the list of believable and reliable news sources, the Sun tabloid ranks below the Weekly World News.

Good point

Dobby with a lightsaber, hell yeah. Let’s see them make a movie out of that. In fact, I smell a hit sitcom on UPN.

Am I the only one who thought to actually check? From the UK Patent Office, we find that trademarks starting with the text “Harry Potter” include “Harry Potter”, “HARRY POTTER.WY.US”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE ALCHEMIST’S CELL”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE CHARIOTS OF LIGHT”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE MUDBLOOD REVOLT”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOEN+”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN”, “HARRY POTTER AND THE PYRAMIDS OF FURMAT”, and “HARRY POTTER AND THE QUEST OF THE CENTA+”.

Checking specifics, we find that “Quest of the Centaur” was applied by “Seabottom Productions Limited”, as was “Mudblood Revolt”. “Pyramids of Furmat”, “Chariots of Light”, and “Alchemist’s Cell” are owned by Warner Bros.

I note that one of the trademarks for “Order of the Phoenix” dates from 2000, so it’s possible that the other titles are trademarked in advance, as well. Then again, I also wouldn’t put it past Rowling/Scholastic/Warner Bros/whomever to put decoys out, either.

That’s what we need. Another unoriginal idea from J.K. Rowling.

Give it a rest Soapbox monkey.

About the titles, I betting that they’re decoys.

‘Mudblood Rebellion’ doesn’t sit right. Mudblood’s a bigotted slur in the HP universe. It doesn’t seem it would be used as a title of the book.

I think you have a rare type of psychosis in which you think J.K. Rowling is out to get you. You are also the only OTP in SDMB history who’s trick is loathing J.K. Rowling. Calm down fella. Find something else to say, and then say it.

Holy crudcakes. if there is a “mudblood” (no offence) revolt book, that would blow my mind.

Those wizards don’t treat us normies with respect at all.
Let them see the power of a nuclear warhead baby!
Just kidding.

Just a small but important correction: “mudblood” refers to magical people born of non-magical parents. The vast majority of humans who are not magical are “muggles”. And the opposite, a person who has no magical ability despite having magical parents, is a “squib”.

Given the lyrical titles of the first five books, “Mudblood Revolt” doesn’t sound right to me either.

The argument put forward at The Leaky Cauldron fan site makes a lot of sense to me.

The good thing about HP is that it’s getting kids to like reading again, and will hopefully introduce them to other great fantasy novels.

Happy?

I’m personally going to register HARRY POTTER AND THE RETURN OF THE KING OF THE PHANTOM CLONES. If you could somehow work in the TITANIC, you’d make billions.

Personally, I think it’s a very original idea. I think you are just angry because you didn’t think of it. And how can you possibly extoll the virtues of J.K. Rowling, and then claim she has unoriginal ideas? Nowhere on the books does it say, “by Soapbox Monkey.” So leave me alone, you pretentious eye-rolling snot.

No cite, but research, unfortunately, had debunked that. It seems that, while it’s true that a lot of kids who read HP wouldn’t normally read anything, they’re not enclined to read anything else. Not even Horowitz, who is a logical (and highly recommended) next step.
But let me get this straight. I could run to the patent office today and have “Harry Potter and the Mouth-Breathing Bag of Boogers” copyrighted? Or would I have to own the right to use the name “Harry Potter” to begin with?

Harry Potter and the Attack of the Fellowship of the Pirates of the Titanic Reloaded.
