We’re supposed to get 1-3" of snow tonight. The DOT has brined the roads already. I got a new dog. He’s some sort of ultra mutt mix. His pound name is “Bishop”, but I’m leaning more towards “Gordie”. I’ll take some pics, if I can find my camera. Or my cellphone.
rosie, I’m not a fan of summer, either.
Congrats to HRH!!!
Muppet, that sucks about the job.
smartie, I’d go to the a dentist. You can always change later.
Snow? Again? Santa brought my Christmas present late this year!
I’ve officially renamed my Mountain Cat (the stray living on Mountain Friends porch). Her name was Duchess. It is now Duchess Siobhan (sha-vawn). Some friends of mine are having a baby in a couple of weeks and they rejected Siobhan as a middle name, so I’m taking it.
I do have a feeling the weather has turned the corner. Though Feburary and March can have some of the most violent (virulent?) storms of the whole season. When we do have a warmish day now, there’s a definite tinge of spring in it, and there isn’t the same tinge during a warmish day earlier in winter.
Myself, I don’t like snow and sleet, but I don’t mind the cold all that much. It’ll be hot and humid and buggy and sweaty soon enough. During February I’m still in hibernation mode, in my nice sweaters and reading under my Special Blankie, and making soup. (of course if I had to get up and drive to work in a blizzard in below zero tepps every day, I’d probably change my mind right quick!)
Stop changing dogs on me, Dogbutler–I get confused.
Yay on HRH, but go slow and be patient–potty training can take awhile and is not a reflection on future academic genius/social skills etc. (I know you know that–I’m just saying…)
Work in the library today was ok. I still like it a lot (and prefer it to nursing), but I am tired of feeling stupid at it. I wish I only had that as a job so that I could get good at it more quickly. I have two complaints about my library gig:
it is so freaking hot in there (and stuffy) that I am about to pass out. I have to take my shoes off because my socks are soaked. I wear my CoolMax running bras because otherwise I am damp all day. It’s horrid. She says it’s as bad in the summer, which means I will surely die. Plus my eyes feel like sandpaper in there.
Things seem to be kind of up in the air. No doubt she’s got it all taped in her head, but lots is not explained to me. Now, I do ask, but I don’t want to grill the woman, either. I do take notes and type them up later. She’s not a natural teacher, IMO (although she is very nice).
Sorry to hear about the crap at work, Mahna[sup]2[/sup].
This is one of the common problems that’s mentioned everywhere I’ve seen directions. They say to make sure your first stitch on each needle is really tight. It’s hard, though, isn’t it? That’s why I’m still practicing. I’m thinking of getting some additional yarn before I start in on my hat because I’d like for it to turn out OK. Might knit the same pattern in a different yarn and then in the one that goes with my scarf. Have you seen the video about knitting with DPNs on this page? I think I also read somewhere that some people slip one stitch onto the next needle with every round so that the looser stitches get distributed around whatever you’re knitting. I’ll have to go find out what the specifics were on that tip.
Sorry about the work frustration, Muppet. If I were you I’d look around for opportunities and get to know people who might be able to hire you or help you get an opportunity. You don’t need to tell people you’re looking, but actually being acquainted with people who can help you down the line is never a bad idea.
I think that you should tell She-Boss that you’re really impressed that she’s the goddess in her own religion, Nava. Because it’s apparent that she’s the only one able to imbue anyone or anything with value.
::makes note to add to GoodReads::
I think it might be better for that person to send recommendations to the hiring manager. Or maybe to both?
Left you a comment. Not sure why, but I like the second one best.
Yay!!! We want pictures!
Yay for HRH getting to know the potty!!!
Patience, rigsy, you’ll catch up eventually.
I went to see Inkheart with one of my work friends. Cool movie, but horrible song at the end. Really got on my nerves. Songs like that don’t usually bother me much, but this one grated on my nerves. The style was all wrong for the movie, plus the singer had…issues. I think she was off-key. Just went and looked on IMDB and the singer is the girl who played the daughter. Not too bad at acting, but singing…not really her strong suit.
Guess I should do something semi-constructive yet. But what?
It’s supposed tp snow tonight. I hope not, I don’t feel like having to srape snow at 8:50 in the morning. I should have parked in the garage…what was I thinking?
My life is hard. I have a hard life. My life is so hard that maybe a foundation should be started in my name to raise money for me. So hard maybe I should be signed up for an extreme home makeover. My life is hard enough that Angelina Jolie might consider adopting me.
I have to… god this is hard to talk about but I’ll try, just for you all, just to expose the horror that is my life… write a paper. I have to write a paper and I’m TIRED and would much rather watch TV. And it’s due tomorrow because I’m clearly the world’s most smartest person and didn’t finish it early when I was less tired and whiny. Stupid paper. Stupid teacher assigning stupid papers.
I am the VICTIM here. A victim of vicious paper-assigning schools. Stupid fascist school making me to work and stuff.
Yay to HRH success in beginning potty training! Yay for Doggio’s new doggy, which I’m anxiously awaiting pics of. Hugs for those who need them … like Dorothy.
I went to the docs today about my head cold; I ended up getting a nebulizer treatment, scripts for nasal spray, an albuterol inhaler and z-pack antibiotics. I can’t sleep, though, my head is still all clogged up. I don’t know if i’ll make it in to work tomorrow; I may stay home to try to recouperate. We’ll see.
We totally need to get together then, to… er, discuss the division of labor. Yes.
I liked the second one, too. They’re all way to “cute”, though, IMO, with those large puppy-dog (kittenish?) eyes!
Aw, you poor, poor thing!
My solution to your predicament is to define “tomorrow” according to your readers’ time zone. For example, by my clock you posted this early Wednesday morning. So you have all day Wednesday to finish it up “by tomorrow.”
you’re going to be so impressed at how brave I am. I mean, I even inspire myself. I should start a religion or something.
I finished my paper. All done. And it’s only 3 in the morning.
I bet nobody else has come through in the face of such incredible, horrific adversity. Anybody who wants to write e-mail forwards about my accomplishments is free to do so.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Today is my Thursday, so yay!
Dotster I am impressed you haven’t cracked up under such incredible hardships. Imagine! A school that expects you to do such things as go to class and write papers? Why, it’s just inhumane!
I have to chime in and say, I lurves Summer. I am a Summer baby plus I have a pool. Summer rocks!
Ok, time for more caffiene and brekkie foragin’. Also gotta purtify for work.
Funnily enough, those are my main reasons why, if I ever stay under the “Christian” label but decide to get rid of the RC part, I’ll be asking whether those of us who can’t drink alcohol are allowed to be Whiskipalians…
I thought my Swiss job had managed to effectively murderize my professional conscience, but apparently she’s still alive. After finding yet another dozen tables that are “needed” (as in, we do have to fill them in), redundant and… basically completely stupid… not to mention a waste… did I ever mention I have wastephobia (not as in “fear” but as in “hate”)… I so. Wanna. Go. Postal. On this woman.
With a flamethrower. Every chemist is a pyromaniac waiting for a good excuse, I swear…
Hate her not, for she knows not what she is doing…
… Like so many other so-called “Project Managers” in hi-tech, I might add…
You don’t have to be a chemist to be a pyromaniac. Just saying
Although it’s probably not coincidence that before switching to Comp Sci I started out college studying Chemistry…
